@userarmand
their contrasting demeanours have bewitched me
the funny thing about this season is that they landed on three big important moments for lestat: his relationship with & nicki's death, magnus turning him forcibly, and waking akasha. and all three are the highlight of the season.
notice how the only things that worked this season were things they lifted directly from the book so what does that tell us
ASSAD ZAMAN The Vampire Lestat After Dark: After The Failures
accidentally let the biggest seagull i've ever seen into sainsbury's
and if i said they didn't anticipate jacob and assad's chemistry to translate as warmly as it did onscreen which is why they're now desperately trying to convince us that there was never any love between loumand despite the evidence to the contrary
also was paul being there confirmation that lestat did indeed make him jump or was it just some bullshit?
the long table scene just being a complete mess because what tf was marius there for??šš neither his fledgling nor his Maker.
and then lestat on the stage in the dream sequence looking at those "he loves the most" but nicki and armand aren't there (nicki's there in the dream but not in the assembly of people he looks at when he says those "he loves the most") but fuck ass tough cookie and marius are there. marius??bitch that's his bossššthat's how they chose to adapt it. so now why do they want book maristat nachos? LMAOO
armand's name never leaves his mouth and nicki is haunting him the most the entire season but those two aren't in "those he loves most". #ok
the nickimand in lestat's mind palace were away somewhere making out i've decided
It's a title that he has given himself, or has been given to him, but he's never felt it. I don't think he's ever really wanted it or I don't think it gives him happiness. He would much rather have a maĆ®tre in Louis and I think that goes back to his other previous partners [ā¦] or people that he's had in his life. But here thatās his cloak, that's his kind of mask. [At the] end of episode four [Louis] calls him Arun for the first time and for Armand in that moment thatās Louis seeing Armand for the child that he is, for the innocent that he is, and thatās what makes Armand melt [ā¦] Thatās a sigh of relief that he doesnāt have to do this alone because heās been doing this alone for so long, maintaining power, maintaining structure, maintaining the coven, and now Louis [has] said with that phrase, I can share that burden with you, even better I can take it from you, I can hold it. There are the sexual dynamics in that as well, and thatās the submissive elements to it. Itās protection and I feel that he kind of sees Louis as his protector, but itās difficult because he wants to give that control but wants to also control Louis [...] but you canāt have both and thatās his downfall. | Assad Zaman
you're so brave for watching the after dark episode... if i was the cast i'd sit in mute silence.
assad zaman has led me places i wouldn't even go with a gun
if this show were competently written i would say that 'a love that will cradle you' is a nod to benji and sybelle but as it stands i need the writers not to touch that dynamic with a twenty foot pool
if they wanted the arun name drop/age reveal to really hit they should've actually maybe let armand tell lestat and gabrielle his backstory and explored his dynamic with marius but no let's just blame it all on louis because that totally makes sense
u know the episode is bad when userarmand doesn't even wanna gif the armand scenes
i agree with anon on assad's acting although i don't think it's his fault. assad's acting according to whatever direction and the direction just feels off because it's just now how armand would act. almost feels like they stuck nicki's mannerisms over him the way he's all over the place?
it's too demonstrative for armand. they should've kept his behaviour more in line with how he was in 2.05.
i'm also still annoyed they did all that to baby jenks for no other reason than so lestat could fuck her on screen misogyny is a helluva drug
waow
regrettably i have butterscotch bitch stuck in my head will the indignities never cease š©
i can't believe i'm saying this because i love assad so much and i think he's an incredible actor but his mannerisms in the torture scene didn't feel like armand to me. they just looked like the mannerisms he's used in stage roles i've seen him in. the material itself and the dialogue were so out of character perhaps it was hard to make the performance fit with his previous portrayal of armand? again i'm not hating because i think he's amazing. i just couldn't find armand in that scene and it makes me sad
you can't find armand because nothing that happened in episode 7 was in character and if you felt it was reminiscent of assad's stage work it's because the writing was so over the top he was basically doing a prolonged villain monologue. the only time he felt like armand to me was at the end when he's reacting to louis' "amends" (louis sweetie we'll get u outta there)
