And I have to keep telling him, I will be keeping all four of my babies and I will be adopting a Himalayan next week. And, so long as I’m not in breach of the original contract I signed, which I’m not, there’s nothing he can do about it… I think he and I may have gotten off to a bad start…”

“Aphrodite,” Oliver repeated, trying to commit it to memory. “Yeah, they can be. But it totally worth it. Stevie’s got this whole personality I had to figure out. It’s like living with a human that’s, y’know, got four legs and loves to cuddle.”

“You’re just making me want a dog even more. I love to cuddle so that would be very beneficial. Or it would make me never want to leave my bed which wouldn’t be very good. It’d be worth it though.”

“That… Selfie.. Song?” If he hadn’t mentioned it before, his music knowledge was terrible. Ask him about Queen and AC/DC, and he’d be able to tell you things, but a selfie song didn’t ring a bell. “Isn’t a selfie a self portrait?”

Aphrodite laughed softly, she couldn’t help but think his cluelessness was adorable. “Yeah it is, but this group of kids made a song about it that got like super huge and it was techno.”

Oliver smiled back down at the stranger as she gave Stevie a few friendly scratches behind his ear. “You should. They’re pretty awesome to have around,” he said, giving his dog a few pats on the back. “I’m Oliver. This is Stevie,” the Englishman introduced them both and held out his free hand to the stranger.

“I can imagine,” she leaned up to shake his hand and present herself. “I’m Aphrodite. Stevie? And adorable name for an adorable dog,” she smiled as she patted his head again. ”I’ve always wanted one but aren’t they a lot of work though?”

“The techno-ey kind of music nowadays? Some I understand but … A lot of them is just the same beat repeated over and over again? Do you folks actually like that now?”

“Like that Selfie song. It was quite a hit a couple years ago. It depends, some people truly like. I think some of it is good for dancing so I’ll enjoy a bit of it every once in a while. For most part I’m usually just amased at what people can do these days with just a computer.”

Oliver was enjoying is day off and one of the last few days of summer heat by taking Stevie out for a run in the park. As they approached the end of his route, Oliver dropped the leash and the two of them sprinted the last 100 yards together. But before the footballer could catch his breath and pick the leash back up, Stevie was already making his way over to someone else to say hello. Oliver groaned and rolled his eyes, jogging to catch up with his pup. “Y’know, sometimes he might too friendly for his own good,” Oliver said with a chuckle as he picked up the leash.

Ever since Aphrodite had moved to Montreal a couple months ago she had been obsessed with walking around the parks whenever she had free time. She never used to go out on walks much back when she was living in Sweden but this was a new city and she enjoyed exploring it. She smiled widely as the dog walked towards her and crouched down so she could pet him. “It’s okay, I really don’t mind,” she smiled up at the owner. “I’ve always wanted a dog, they’re adorable.”

“No, but I tried. The older you get, the harder it gets to keep up with the youth of these days.”

“The songs pretty old but yeah, I get it. They’re always coming up with new crazy things, some of them are pretty fun and some are just kind of insane.”
