🎬 1939: Margaret Hamilton played the Wicked Witch of the West in the iconic film The Wizard of Oz. 

She was severely burned by a fire during the filming of scene where she makes a fiery exit from Munchkinland. She suffered second and third degree burns due to a faulty trapdoor. She had to have her stand-in handle any scenes involving fire afterward. 

Despite her terrifying role, she was a kind-hearted animal rights advocate and a former kindergarten teacher.
