"Close-Up is based on real events that occurred in Northern Tehran in the late 1980s. Kiarostami first heard about Sabzian in 1989 after reading about the incident in an article in the Iranian magazine Sorush by journalist Hassan Farazmand. Kiarostami immediately suspended work on the film project that he was in pre-production of and began making a documentary on Sabzian. Kiarostami was allowed to film Sabzian's trial (the courtroom scene was real; the trial was only manipulated in the sense that Kiarostami was granted permission by the judge to ask his own questions) and also got Sabzian, the Ahankhahs and Farazmand to agree to participate in the film and to re-enact incidents from the past. Kiarostami also arranged for Mohsen Makhmalbaf to meet Sabzian and help facilitate forgiveness between Sabzian and the Ahankhahs."

Happy anniversary to Touhou 1 – 19 years ago today, the game saw its full public release at Comiket 52. To celebrate, I’ve put together a collection of rips from the game’s original music, not the arranged versions from Mystic Square. I’ve found it’s pretty hard to find these tracks out there in decent quality, so hopefully this can fill that void a little.

Here’s to many more years of the adventures of Reimu Hakurei, eternal shrine maiden.
