— ANONYMOUS : what is allowed weapon-wise, if at all, on the ice walk? and are there limitations to what you're allowed to bring?
for the ice walk, each participant is given a single weapon by their mentor the person who helped them prepare for their journey, it is most often the weapon they were trained with; sometimes being a new or modified version of it. this moment is often looked at as a gifting ceremony and many teens look forward to the moment they receive their ‘final weapon’, as typically any weapons they possess after their ice walk are ones they’ve found or had forged themselves.
additionally, the clan supplies each one with a small hunting knife so they may clean any kills they might be lucky enough to make. aside from their gifted weapon and the hunting dagger, the ice walk participants are not to ascend the mountain with anything else except the clothes they wear. no additional food or provisions are allowed and failure to uphold these sacred laws can lead to banishment from the clan.
children who are raised without guidance and who have no mentor to train them on how to survive their ice walk are at an extreme disadvantage as they are unable to bring a weapon up the mountain, only the hunting knife provided by the clan.
