a slice of lies

My favorite is when you go through a phone screen, and the guy's like, "Great, I'll send over a coding challenge!" You shoot him a thank you email the next day, saying you look forward to the coding challenge, and wait. You send another email a week later and wait.

It's like telling a girl you'll call her, and then not calling her. WHEN IT'S YOUR JOB TO ACTUALLY TELL HER YES OR NO.

If you actually didn't want to move forward, or if plans changed, it is on day 1 of 'Being a Human 101' that you learn that you send a polite email and decline.

To the recruiters who don't use Jobvite yet still don't even have the decency to click a 'Reject' button to have a machine do all the work and send an email for you,

I guess I kind of get it. I've left Facebook friend requests unanswered even when I know I don't want to accept them because I don't want them to be able to friend me again. I currently have one person in friend request purgatory. Never to see my profile. Never able to add me again.

I'm really trying to help justify this for you, but when it's actually your job, there's no justifying being a piece of shit about it. All I want is a rejection so I can move on.

By the way, Jobvite is a savior. You can see exactly which recruiters are lazy fucks and which ones are on top of their game. (C still has an application marked as "New" from 8 months ago.)

Sometimes I want to apply a company just because I see they use Jobvite because I actually get transparency about my application status. Why other hiring platforms don't help out jobseekers this way, I have no idea. It's just another client-facing app. That displays the data you already have. But less of it.

Don't put up a job listing if you're not even going to review the applications you receive. WE HAVE JOBVITE, WE KNOW EXACTLY WHO YOU ARE.
