Hello, I hope you doing fine ♡ I dont know if you take requests but if you do I would be really happy to get headcanons (getting closer to him through war and as best friends) about Cobb from Band of Brothers. I never saw headcanons about him but I think he's pretty cute.. idk xD I love that useless boy.
I’m kind of living for this right now, and I’m sorry that this is awful. I haven’t written anything in a while so I’m trying to get back into the swing of things.
Getting Closer to Cobb/ Becoming Best Friends:
Cobb was always the guy that had been easy to hate…
He always had something to say, and majority of the time it was negative and made him sound like a total asshole.
But then there were other times when he was a bit reserved and kept to himself, which never lasted too long.
A lot of the guys from Easy Company had no problem putting him in his place or calling him on his shit
Not that they were rude, but it was just easier to do that than have him causing any problems.
(For female readers) He would never understand how you were allowed to join the Paratroopers, which meant he would try and put you down as much as he could.
This usually resulted in Martin, Bull, and a few others to stick up for you because they knew you were good at your job and didn’t deserve any of the hate he was throwing your way.
You also knew how he was though, and were able to block him and the things he said out pretty easily.
It wasn’t until Bastogne that you and Cobb grew closer.
He most likely (definitely) said something ignorant, and considering the circumstances and everything that was going on, you lost patience and finally yelled at him to shut his mouth.
He stayed away from you for a while after this, not knowing how to react since you were never one to snap back at him and usually had other people get in the way to do it instead.
However, guys like Cobb also need someone to lean on, especially in a place like Bastogne
So despite how stubborn and ignorant he may be sometimes, he finally did what nobody thought he would ever do
Which was coming to his senses and apologizing to you.
It was hard to process at first, because he’s the kind of hard-headed guy that usually always has to be right and when he’s in the wrong he never owns up to it
But you could see in his eyes that he was genuine, and that he really did mean it.
Of course, to make matters easier for everyone and to avoid any further tension, you thanked him for apologizing and told him that it was fine.
And even though telling him that it was okay seemed to be a small act, this was more than anyone else had given him.
After this, he avoided ever crossing you again, and did little things to make up for being an ass.
He would come over to your foxhole after an airstrike to make sure you were okay.
Offer you his blanket to hopefully make you a bit more warm even if it meant he would freeze.
He’d make sure to save you some hot food because if you weren’t in line soon enough it would either get cold or someone else would eat it first.
Whenever someone was making coffee he would stroll on over and ask “Mind if I take some to Y/N?”
It wasn’t long until you started to return these small favors
And soon enough you two would actually start spending time together.
Having heart-to-hearts in your foxholes at night, and just being the one person he felt like he could actually be open with.
Even though at first it was like pulling teeth.
All of the other guys noticed the increased time you two spent together, and would always give you a curious eyes as to how someone was actually able to stand Cobb.
After Bastogne, your friendship didn’t fade away, but instead it grew stronger.
Anytime he picked a fight, mostly when he was drinking or just not fully caffeinated, you would be the only person to talk him down.
Something that everyone was thankful for because it meant less dramatics for them to deal with.
He also wouldn’t start petty fights if you were around, because seeing you just had a calming effect on him
And if you were around, chances are that all of his attention would be focused solely on you instead of what people were saying or doing.
Being so close to him also meant that you knew what was on his mind without him even saying something
His face kind of just showed all of his emotions, even though to anyone else it kind of just looks like he is always pissed off.
He could walk into a room and with just one glance at him you’d know what kind of mood he’d be in.
This was reciprocated on both ends
If he could tell you were upset he’d grab your arm gently and pull you aside to ask what was on your mind.
Honestly, just a sweet friendship.
But there were also ups and downs, because well… its Cobb.
He’d also be the kind of person who might try to push you away at some points
Because he’s scared of getting hurt or being left behind, which was one of the reasons why he was always a jerk
It was his way to make sure he didn’t get too close to anyone
Because if he avoids that than he doesn’t have to worry about what might happen if one day they’re gone.
Whenever this would happen you would make him look you in the eyes
And assure him that nothing was going to happen to you
And that you would always be there with him, and for him.
He trusts you more than anyone, so he would just nod his head and the two of you would move past it.
