#i think that as sides are added it gets more and more sci fi#but eventually you circle around to having so many sides its a sphere and also fantasy again
Asymptotic Fantasy
okay, what about Artemis Fowl and the Eternity Code? In that one they are fighting over a cube. But fairies and whatnot exist in that world, so itâs definitely fantasy.

Hi! Sorry to pop in, but I just finished watching the 2024 BBC adaption of The Count of Monte Cristo. Iâve heard that you love the book, so Iâm wondering which adaption youâve enjoyed the most? (Iâm waiting for the book to come in at the library!)
Hiii!!! Sorry this got a bit lost in my drafts.
I am a *bit* of a snob in the sense that, if I like a book a lot I am not too quick to watch any adaptions. But here's what I do know about the adaptions.
I've seen enough of the 2002 adaption to know it's TRASH. I truly despise that one. Though I must admit Henry Cavill as Albert is good.
I haven't seen the 2024 mini series, I'm still debating watching but I haven't heard anything bad or good.
I just watched the 2024 French movie. I have very mixed feelings. If you haven't read the book I'm not sure I'd recommend watching that first. I really enjoyed that they pulled a good amount of lines right out of the book, and the cinematography and casting is wonderful. And it's super fun to hear it all in French. I did not like how, predictably, they changed a several characters' stories and left out a lot more. But it's still no where near as bad as the 2002.
I haven't seen any others yet but I'm probably going too. I will certainly post about them here if I decide to watch them lol
Thank you for letting me ramble on!!!
I would say the 2024 TV series is probably the most accurate adaptation Iâve seen thus far, simply because it is 8 episodes instead of a movie, so they were able to fit in a lot more of the plot and didnât have to do drastic changes like the movie did.
The biggest change is probably what they did with Caderousse, and some bigger changes they did with Villefortâs secret son subplot. Overall, I thought they did a great job, and even with some of the changes they made, they still got the spirit of the story quite well, which most of the movies did a poor job of.
imagine there is one semi-redeemed dalek who works at the space dmv. they hired it because it makes lines go quicker. someone forgets their papers and instead of arguing about it, they hear a dalek start yelling PAPERWORK. PAPERWORK. and they apologize profusely and leave.
"average dalek doesn't kill anyone in its lifetime" actually statistical error. dalek todd, who works at the space dmv and has actually saved lives by providing spaceship driver's licenses, is an outlier and should not be counted
space dmv gets denied proper funding for equipment the fifth year in a row and dalek todd unleashes all his hatred onto updating all their computers with superior dalek tech so that they can process requests faster. everyone loves dalek todd. he's a joy to have in the workplace. sometimes he'll tell you that you would make a better dalek then [insert species here] and he would convert you in a heartbeat, but we think that's just his way of being friendly. if balance your coffee on top of his head when he gets mad, it heats up.
dalek todd was not involved in the time war because and i quote "THE DALEK EMPIRE DID NOT REGISTER ITS WAR SHIPS PROPERLY. SAY WHAT YOU WILL ABOUT TIME LORDS BUT THEIR PAPERWORK IS IN ORDER. I WILL HAVE TO FINE EMPEROR DAVROS TEN BILLION SPACE DOLLARS."
Unfortunately there was that time when Dalek Todd's supervisor (a semi-redeemed Cyberman) got into a heated "discussion" with him over who was better at converting other species and they both had to attend sensitivity counseling
Dalek Todd hates the Doctor not because the Doctor is the enemy of the Daleks, but because the Doctor travels to a place, fucks up that place forever, and then DOESNT FILL OUT ANY PAPERWORK ABOUT IT.
I normally donât repost things from reddit but I CACKLED at this.
Long Post Lotad
Okay, this post is stupid long thanks to tumblrâs new 30 image limit on individual posts, so if you want to avoid it please blacklist the tag #long lotad or #long post. If you choose to ignore this warning, forge ahead, and end up regretting it, just know that i did warn you up front. Now, without further adoâŠ
But like, why?
I'm starting to sound insane but this genuinely might be my breaking point. I can barely put it into words how disheartening this is, all of these changes are not even just pointless, they are stupid and this one in particular is probably the worst one yet.
There are so many meaningful and important moments that revolve around Percy's birthday. His 15th in botl being bittersweet bc he thinks is probably the last one he will ever get to celebrate, annabeth (and tyson)'s birthday cake after the battle, but most of all, after actually surviving everything, Percy has to spend the rest of his life knowing that his birthday is the day dozens of his friends died. He has to carry that with him FOREVER.
His birthday is his and annabeth's anniversary, it's luke's death day, it's the end of a centuries old prophecy, it's the day the battle of manhattan ended. And you're just gonna throw away this whole thing, the whole entire fucking story just to "fudge it a little"? TO WHAT END? What can the narrative possibly gain from losing this? I don't understand
Okay I am by no means a Percy Jackson show defender - I was quite disappointed by the 1st season and havenât seen Season 2 - but like, the article you linked literally explained why they are doing this? There is a reason? They know it takes awhile for the show to be made and filmed and by the time Season 5 comes around Walker is going to be way older than 16, so they donât want to pull a Stranger Things of pretending these 20-something year olds are young teens. Itâs to make that a bit more realistic. They can age Percy up just slightly so it doesnât look odd.
re-reading THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO for the third time and DRACULA DAILY girlies for the love of God!!! you MUST read this book you will lose your MINDS. edmond dantes IS pop culture's idea of dracula except his arc is about moving on and getting a different girlfriend. vampire tropes flock about him. 10/10 recommend.

Jack Duquesne has won me over with his disdain for the circus of a trial he was put through, his theatric and enthusiastic moves when beating people up and his knack for muttering one liners that are absolute show stealers. Sorry not sorry.
your world is dying. your husband presumably dies in space so now you're a widow and your world is still dying. then 50-ish years later your husband everyone assumed was dead pulls up in a random spaceship full of a highly volatile atmosphere with the solution to your impending apocalypse and none of the original crew from his mission and instead with a wet, blobby alien that he pack bonded with and almost died for and is now emotionally codependent on that now wont stop complaining about the temperature of the water in its enclosure. your name is adrian and you dont know how you got here
Andy Weir's subgenre of science fiction being "what if everything works out despite the odds and caring for others is the thing that saves the world?" makes so much sense when you find out he's a diehard Doctor Who fan
