me hearing racists openly bash Hailey Bailey, an extremely talented and beautiful human being, for being cast as a FICTIONAL DISNEY ROLE about a FUCKING FISH. Ariel’s race literally is not mentioned nor is a large role into her character but the fact that she was A FUCKING MERMAID and has red (that shit ain’t natural) hair.

Hearing “Well, if they casted Selena Gomez as Princess Tiana, there would be outrage.” You KNOW you are being racist and you know the issue is because she is Black. Selena would need to know how to sing, honey. Black people can be Danish too, boo. Tiana may be a FICTIONAL character but she is a young BLACK women in the South at a time where the affects of the Jim Crow Laws were at an all-time high. Tiana being black is important to the story because it applies to what she experiences every day. Mulan being Chinese is literally a large factor of the story, it is based in CHINA. It took Disney around 70 years to get us THE FIRST BLACK PRINCESS so don’t come at me with that bullshit of, “well, you guys have Princess Tiana...” I will never understand this type of outrage about a fictional character being depicted but get off when any live-remake about actual historical and religious events, (the Bible), has an all white cast. Representation matters. To see grown ass women sending death threats to a Black women for collecting a bag and shifting how little black girls see The Little Mermaid as now someone they can look like them and can admire is what I call: clownery. Have the whole back row if you’re mad.
