Almost considered doing something with my life, but then I sat down and logged into Tumblr. Psht.
It's pancake day in Britain; yes, I'm celebrating.
I’m seeing Vanessa’s everywhere again.
I'm not. That makes this Oompa Loompa sad.
That awkward moment when you leave a store without buying anything and all you can think is “act natural, you’re innocent”.
Big Apple Dreams || Phil/April
Phil too offered a gesture of greeting to the sharp-dressed man, noting the slight pompous air that held around his high-stature features, before they were welcomed into the comforting interior of the richly modernized building. To the Illinois-native, it was a contrast to it’s outside in which cream coloured walls and large glass windows and structures made this seem something unreal, and something far too out of their price range; however stepping insides the pair were instantly hit by a homely warmth, orange hues and wood furnishings at every corner making this seem almost tight-knit and isolated, like a cottage or a cabin by a calmed river. He supposed the spitfire would have already known this, after glancing at the listing on the internet already, but Phil was overcome in its foreign and yet striking beauty. He never thought he would be someone to appreciate this, but he would have been lying to say that he wasn’t already falling into adoration for the place.
His darkened hues were darting around every inch against the inner walls, his mindset going into another world that was filled deep with relaxation before the older man quipped up, offering them a tour of the abode. With a silent nod of his head, a slight smile etched into his fuzzed features, the pair were led slowly to the first room - their perhaps future living area which housed already furnishings that Phil wouldn’t have dreamed of ever having back in his old Chicago home. A charcoal-black leather couch graced the center of the room, coupled with bookshelves and paintings galore; an Aztec-symbol rug nestled itself under the couch, next to it a completely glassed coffee table complete with mini statues and pot-pourri bowls which held the faintest hints of lavender. To say that the tattooed wrestler wasn’t stunned would have been an understatement, his hand almost gripping tightly onto the Jersey-natives, needing to feel her besides him, a decision that would have to be made for two.
‘Whoa.’ Phil simply ghosted under his breath, perhaps audible to the others that now stood in the room. Smiles against the business man as reassurance combined with a hardened glare to gauge the couple’s reaction was strong, but the former Champion didn’t notice, his optics too swamped with taking in the lavish and honestly breath-taking surroundings that the room had to offer. A breath hitched hard in his throat already, partly through nerves and partly through a thought of that never in his life did he expect to be in a place such as this. He was too poor, or too stuck in his ways of having a simple, care-free life; nothing compared to this. But he was strangly enjoying it in the depths of his soul, the fact it almost made him feel special and of a higher-status for the first time in a long time out of the squared circle; something he could only hope April mirrored in her own feeling.
As the couple were led into the lavish-looking structure by the grandiose male, the small smile that was present on Aprils delicate features remained put. She could already tell by obvious body-language Phil's thoughts on the outer-look of the greatly-rich, typical New York style construction. Neither of the two were one's for overly-decorated materials of any sort, this was a fact April knew, and one that she kept present in her memory as she searched through the listings when in look-out for the perfect apartment. The contradistinction of the outside and inside was merely evident. The extravagant adornment to which was displayed from the outside was in no way a contender to the warm, homely, cozy feel the inside offered. Something the young spitfire knew the older wrestler would have appreciated.
Although his actions not obvious, the petite brunette could tell by his simple gestures here and there, the generosity he felt when the older; formally dressed man gave them a tour of their optionally, soon to be home. Glad wasn't the word to describe how she felt knowing he appreciated her choice of adobe, somewhat. Another factor that had been weighing on her mind when she'd informed Phil of their house-viewing. Almost scared he'd reject or turn his nose up at her decision. After all, she did when in search, look attentively for somewhere both of them would find comfortable and a place they could refurnish into their own. Dark-brown optics scanned every nook-and-cranny of the beautiful surroundings that were in full exhibit for the couple to admire. "Do you like it?.." A soft whisper from the Diva ghosted into the silence of the homely room; a vulnerable question from the younger woman, almost as if she was looking for approval.
Gingerly steps towards thoroughly cleaned glass of the window followed, a silent - almost satisfied - sigh could be heard falling from the plumpness of her lips as she digested the view. A view in which she was all too familiar with. Jersey city. The interlocking of their fingers tightened, a small glance up at the Chicago-native as if to confirm this was the place she desired to be, the place in which she wanted to spend the remainder of her life, with him by her side, somewhere she could already picture the two pro-wrestlers spending their time in after retirement days had graced them, comforting views and furniture which accompanied, would be ideal if children were to ever be brought into the picture. "It feels like home.." A Jersey accent spoke, nearly inaudible. Too magnetized by the views which were presented before her very eyes.
Big Apple Dreams || Phil/April
Phil wasn’t one for lavish luxuries, far from it and in any other moment he perhaps would have turned his nose up at the home that presented itself in front of his gaze. It wasn’t so much the fact it didn’t possess qualities that would be grand to live in, but it usually wouldn’t be the Chicago-natives style; a small apartment or home doing justice quite fine. However upon getting out the car, as his dark optics gazed upon the almost royal style feel to the modernized, sophisticated complex, he thought that perhaps he could alter his thoughts, a sudden change of mind tugging at his heart-strings. After all as long as he was with the Jersey spit-fire, did it really mattered where they resided? New York was a state that Phil had always wanted to live in, purely for the neon-lights and the sheer insanity of it all, so perhaps upon first impressions, this wasn’t such a bad choice after all.
‘I feel like a red carpet should be out or something fancy…’ Phil couldn’t help but quip as he took a tattooed hand to hold against April’s dainty own, leading the way to the front door. Butterflies had hit at the older man’s frame with no reasoning as to why; he knew this was a big step they were taking and wanted it too, so he was sure it wasn’t due to nerves. Excitement must have been the source, the idea that this was the first step into a future they both so craved with one another. Sure, moving in together may have been a quick decision, but after months of feelings shared without no such knowledge between the two of them, it had felt like a lifetime, actions being put into place now almost as if to make up for it. Phil could only be thankful that things were finally being put into place now, the pieces of the jigsaw finally fitting together, it could have been a lot worse and a life could have been lived that was filled with misery and regret.
Squeezing a hold of the younger woman’s hand slightly, Phil regarded her with a soft gaze, chewing at the metallic object embedded in his lower lip: ‘So…do we just go in and look around or do we have to wait for someone?’ He wasn’t very experienced in house-hunting, and he didn’t particularly want to be; he simply wanted to find somewhere that he was going to spend his future days with his love with, it was all that mattered.
The notion of even having a simple homely-home, never mind the overly decorated, lavish complex that stood before her, was a completely foreign feeling to the spitfire. Growing up she never had what everyone else would call a stable home. Due to some severe financial issues that had crept up between her family, it had left her and her siblings homeless for two different spurts in their young life. Crashing in whomevers place would allow them too, just to have a roof over their head at night was a tough gig for the then teenage April to withstand. Now, the WWE Diva was the breadwinner for her family; something she'd always dreamed of doing. Giving her parents and siblings exactly - what she thought - they deserved, and not only them, but herself, also. At 15 years old, living in some strangers cold, dark apartment would she ever of dreamed to be one day house-hunting in one of the richest cities in the world, with someone whom had her heart in the palm of their hand? She wouldn't of dared.
Yet, here she was. Stood outside in the bitterly cold weather of The Big Apple with the love of her life, ready to do just that. "Psht, I know right?" The brunette replied, a barely audible laugh passing the thin slit of her lips. Butterflies of her own waving through the pit of her stomach. Good, bad? Could of been a little bit of both combined. Good, evidently because this is exactly what she had wanted. to share a house, a life, with the man of her dreams? It's all every girl ever wants, right? On opposing factors, some could be described as nervy. This was a new experience for April. As said before with her past, this was a totally foreign occurrence for the young woman and she would be lying if she had to say she didn't feel slightly out of place.
The comfort in grip the Chicago-natives tattoo'd flesh offered hers was all the reassurance she needed to know, even though this was completely new to her, it would all be worth it in the end. With her free hand, black nail-polish clad finger nails ran gently through the long, dark tresses of the spitfire as her eyes scanned the rich; yet welcoming surroundings. "Uhm, yeah. We were supposed to meet someone here. Guess he's running late or something?" A reply in the usual soft tone of the petite Diva. "We can just wai-" The brunette began only to be caught off by a clean, smartly dressed man - probably in his mid forties - gracing the presence of the couple. Offering the gentleman a warm smile as he greeted the pair politely. "Hi, I'm April." Kindness lining the Jersey-natives voice as she accepted a formal handshake.
Big Apple Dreams || Phil/April
It was almost strange - taking a break away from the events and meetings that business used to throw at Phil at every corner and now all he had to do was make sure he turned up on Monday nights, albiet the odd house-show, and read off his lines. The Champion’s way of life was over, and even though thankfulness ran through his veins at the prospect of a somewhat simpler way of living, he would’ve been lying if he said he wouldn’t miss the chaos. However, as darkened hues gazed out the window of the taxi, darting across surroundings that could quite possibly be known as home, a feeling drenched through his veins. A feeling of a need to settle down and begin the Game of Life with the spitfire he had confessed his love upon all those weeks ago, the days that followed nothing but warmth in April’s company. The Illinois-native simply nodded at her gentle words, noting the light gesture against the clothed barrier of his thigh. It was comforting and Phil couldn’t help but etch a smile slightly into his fuzzed features.
Championships could come and go, and to say he wasn’t happy to see a legend in the squared circle, despite attacks of him never gracing the WWE Universe with his presence often, win the title belt would have been wrong. He was grateful to palm off his reign to someone else, whether better or not, and start a new path in his career. Coupled with the events that were about to take place, it cemented Phil’s and April’s relationship almost as something meant for keeps. It solidified the fact they wanted a future, to spend the rest of their lives together and make every second count. For the tattooed male, it was something he had craved for for a long while, and doing it with the woman that latched onto his heartstrings just made it all the better.
Taking another casual sip from his coffee cup, he shifted a little in his grey hoodie, noticing that for a state such as the Big Apple, it was mighty cold in this time of month. A slight shiver coursed throughout his spine before he turned his attention to the Jersey-native, eyes gleaming, a smile wide on his face: ‘I’m sure it is wonderful if you’ve picked it out, April. I have every faith in you.’ With his free hand, he tapped a digit on the end of her nose before laughing softly under his breath; it was a relief to finally be in company that he could be himself with, light-hearted and carefree. It was something he had missed throughout a good part of his years, former flames such as Amy Dumas making life hard for him; with April however? It was a breeze with every second, nothing seemed to faze the pair, making their connection stronger with each moment that passed between them.
It never once occurred to the Diva, now the Chicago-native wasn't necessarily top-dog in the profession, that it would actually give the two more time to spend together; and not just on some incredibly cramped, cold bus which the Diva had shared with the older man as of the past month - but in perspective, an actual place the two could call a home together. New York, of all places, was the desired destination for the somewhat spontaneous couple. April had figured when the subject was brought to surface, Phil would of rathered to have to stayed in his beloved hometown of Chicago Illinois. The brunette would've had no problem if that were the case, but in a u-turn of events he had informed her of the tainted memories with past lovers his now former home beheld. The more the younger woman studied the concept, it was probably the best option for both individuals. A fresh start, as they were calling it. A better one at that, most importantly.
April's own storylines as of late couldn't particularly be referred to as significant, if from the stand-point of her own career. The same-old love angle Vince liked to whip out every now and again was constantly been thrown at her doorstep. Too scared to approach her awfully intimidating boss about the worries of her future endeavors left the spitfire feeling somewhat unrewarded. Years of training and perfecting her craft seemed to be at a standstill, not being recognized in the way she hoped they would have when she first entered the business. Although, career wise, things weren't going according to plan in a negative sense, the same couldn't be said on a personal degree. The only thing keeping her sane - no pun intended - at such an irritable time in her career was the man who graced her presence in the silence of the taxi.
A small; yet hearty giggle escaped the perfectly glossed lips of the Jersey-native. Such gentle gestures carried out by the self proclaimed Best in The World were never overlooked. Always noted in the younger woman's mind to return the favor, when most women would probably take advantage or just not notice such things. She appreciated every single thing about the man that had claimed her heart. From the times they were intimate, to the times they could play a video-game or two together, watch a movie or above everything else, fall asleep in each others arms at night; these were things the petite lady cherished and prayed to be able to experience for the remainder of her life. As the infamous yellow taxi of New York came to a halt outside a lavish, tall, modern looking building; maroon hues traveled towards the window to gaze and admire the surroundings of the place that was, optionally in the near future, to be called home. "Whoa. Extravagant, eh?" She joked; a light laugh passing her lips and her hand extending to open the car door.
Big Apple Dreams || Phil/April
Even though it was through scripted segments planned for a long time, Phil hadn’t exactly had the best week in the business. Losing his title that he had retained for nearly two years coupled with the reveal of his involvement with the faction SHIELD, it had put a dampener on his mindset. It wasn’t due to the fact of what occurred in the squared circle however, it was what happened outside - where fans would shout and tweet alike about their raging opinions on the subject, making the Chicago-native’s mind reel. He was simply trudging through the motions now, his mind only focusing on work and the one woman that took priority in his heart.
Phil was glad to have the weekend free, just to spend some quality time with April - the bus hadn’t exactly provided them with much comfort despite the cozy nights they had shared together throughout the week - yet they had both mutually decided that this would be the right time to get a change of surroundings and go house-hunting in the state of New York, as they had talked about some time beforehand. The flight had banked them towards their destination early in the morning, coffee fuelling their bodies as they arrived some time before lunch. Luggage had been placed into the hotel near the airport, and once getting into the taxi, the older wrestler took a glance over towards the spitfire, offering a question.
‘So where is our next stop? You said you saw somewhere by the Hudson?’ Phil mused, a tilt of his head as he questioned in the quiet of the taxi, nothing compared to the extreme chaos that occured in the city, something that the tattooed male was actually looking quite forward too. Mocha cup in hand, he took a sip of it, awaiting her response.
The events of the past week for both individuals could hardly be comprehended as smooth, or straight-forward, even. The longest title reign of the modern-era had came to an abrupt end for the spitfires self-declared love. To say she was upset would probably be an understatement, even though she was more than capable of separating scripts from reality, it still had put a somewhat damper on her mood to see someone; whom she not only loved so deeply on a personal level, but a professional one also lose to a, even though part-time - still arguably, one of the best entertainers the WWE Universe has ever seen. The pocket-rockets own storyline antics involving colleague and ex-flame, Nick Nemeth was probably adding salt to the wound, as they say, resulting in the young brunette feeling almost guilty for making the atmosphere probably worse than it should've been.
Although, in attempt to push all negatives to one side, both parties agreed to go apartment viewing in the City that Never Sleeps; where only a few nights beforehand the couple had decided upon the concept of sharing a house together in said state. The thought alone sent shivers up the young woman's back, pure compassion for the man she'd spent nearly the whole month of January with remained coursing through her veins. A feeling that would never become numb to her, a feeling in which she awoke in the morning with a desire to feel. The notion of this step being the beginning of many to come sent the Diva's mind into overdrive of where this relationship, to which she believed she already felt complete in, would take the both of them.
Clad in some light-wash skinny jeans, combined with a white studded belt, plain white tank-top and her ever beloved converse the brunette was ready for the events of the day ahead. "Yeah.." She responded; a small tanned hand reaching towards the back pocket of her jeans to pull out a torn, white piece of paper with black scribblings engraved ontop. "River Terrace, that's the street it's on." A happy, almost excited tone lined the Jersey-natives voice as she informed her boyfriend, as well as the taxi driver of their destination. A bright smile was etched into the Diva's delicate features as her free hand subconsciously crawled towards the jean-covered leg of the older man, giving it a gentle squeeze. A gesture of reassurance. "You're gonna love it. It's beautiful."
