“y’all ever thought about string theory? how we’re all interconnected and meant to one day meet each other and everything, everything you ever did in your life. cross the street one way rather than the other – has legit let up to you hearing me say this. to this moment right here.. no? yeah, me neither. how about them cowboys, huh? not kneeling?”
“i’ma need you to repeat that one for me, man.. real slow this time too.”

feeling a football hit his head, logan jumped up, unaware of when he had fallen asleep in the library. “yo, whoever threw that football…” he stopped, not really having the energy to keep going, but instead taking another sip of coffee. frat party on a sunday? a mistake, but who was he to let down his brothers? brushing a hand on his face, he sat up and reopened his books, scanning the pages before closing them again. “fuck it. jamie’s making me rich.”
“jamie?” lily had simply been walking by.. and she wasn’t going to stop, really -- but she had decided she was sick of feeling like an outcast in her own town. yes, she had made a mistake in the past but that didn’t mean she had to walk on eggshells around logan forever. if he wanted to stay mad, then he could stay mad. she was going to kill ‘em with kindness, just like her mother had taught her. “if jamie’s gonna bring riches into anyones life, it’s mine.” she tilted her head to the side, a small smile forming upon her darkly colored lips. “i’ve already put in my time, he knows the deal. i’d be happy to cut you in next though but you might have to fight for that spot. jamie’s got a lot of friends in this town.. heck, he’s related to almost everyone. Sorry to be the one to say it, Logan but you’ve got your work cut out for ‘ya.” lily shrugged, pausing for a moment before continuing. “look, i know i’ve been staying quiet for awhile but we’re bound to see each other around.. like we are right now, i don’t want things to be weird between us but if they have to be.. i can deal with it. i guess i’m saying the ball’s in your court, lo. i’ve said my apologies and i meant them.. i’m not sure there’s anything else i can do.”

the young blonde sat on the bleachers of the school, carrot in one hand and a color pencil in another. she twirled her pencil in her hand, whilst her eyes remained fixed ahead at the boys who were practicing, her glasses keeping her eyes covered and unreavealing of where her stare was; her mind wandering to what she would much rather be doing or where she would rather be. cheerleading didn’t excite her anymore, and though watching the boys sweat was her other favorite thing, she just wasn’t interested today. a noise brought her out of her day dream, immediately taking a bite from her carrot and looking up to see who was there. “what’s up doc?”
“what’s up doc?” jude repeated. “you practicing for halloween, blondie? channeling your inner bugs bunny? i can dig it although.. if you wanna go as a rabbit, my vote is for lola bunny. that bitch was smoking.” she took a seat beside her on the bleachers, draping an arm around her shoulders. “listen, i’ve got a question for you. did you give my number to your webcam fans? i’ve been getting a lot of hang ups and weird text messages.” he handed her his phone, open to a stream of messages warning him against hanging out with sawyer.. or else. “i’ma need you to be real with me, if this is a prank.. lemme know. i don’t fuck with this shit in october, ain’t nobody coming for me in the spookiest month of the year. i won’t stand for it.”

“ it helps that you’re attractive. “ the brunette replied with a scrunch of her nose. “ and i have dark impulses. i may be all about the sunshine and sparkles on the outside but inside of my head? ooh… it’s a dark place. “ was she joking? well half of it was a joke, after all she had spent one afternoon after having watched a criminal minds marathon attempting to plan the perfect murder. “ you have to admit the idea of pulling off a modern adaptation of romeo and juliet would do wonders for our reputation… “ she stated before reaching for his hand as she hopped out of his truck, she looked around a curious glow in her doe eyes now evident as they took in the sight in front of her.
the restaurant was quaint and very inviting it reminded her of his dinner but it also seemed completely different and that was the thing with dating noah, every day seemed to bring in some sort of new surprise for her to learn. “ so after this… are we going to the woods. “ she finished the sentence just for the satisfying feeling of having finished one of her bits. after all an incomplete bit? who could live with that? it would also irritate him a little and well it’s like she said before nothing was more attractive than a flustered noah. as they walked inside, she wanted to make a snarky comment about ignoring the rules. just as he usually pointed out that she did however the comment was lost as an older woman approached them.
her curiosity spiking as the woman hugged noah, she tilted her head and smiled as she stated that she’d heard about her before. “ whatever he’s told you… i’m sure they were all lies. except the ‘ she’s undeniably stunning part. ‘ that’s true. “ she joked as a chuckle slipped her lips. “ but likewise, it’s lovely to meet you miss luce. “ she finished with a polite nod of her head, and well hey at least she didn’t curtsey that was already a win win situation right?
noah watched the two women interact, the scene brought a smile to his face. not many people knew of this side of his life, which was part of the reason he wanted to bring riley here -- to show her just how big of a part of his world she really was. they may have only been dating for a few weeks but this thing between them had been going on for years, he couldn’t help but feel like they had finally gotten something right.
“alright luce,” noah took riley’s hand in his. “we’re gonna take our seat because either of you say something to embarrass me even further.” if anyone could, it would be these two ladies. riley acted as if she majored in noah studies at college and lucy had known him his entire life -- known his parents, even. this conversation here was beginning to feel like a set up. he led riley to a small booth near the back of the restaurant, making a mental note to thank lucy for setting it all up later.
“i know this may seem..” he paused for a moment, looking for the right word. “a strange place for me to bring you on a date and if you want to head somewhere else, just say the word but i wanted you to.. i don’t know. lucy, and her husband matthew, knew my parents. they were best friends. after my dad died, they helped me keep the diner up and running. they’re pretty much the only family i’ve got left.
noah was aware he usually didn’t talk this much, he was also sure riley was dying for a chance to jump in but he wasn’t going to give it to her quite yet.
“this thing we’re doing here, you.. me? i’m all in, riley. i just wanted you to know that. this is my world and i’d like for you to be apart of it.” he reached towards the bottle of champagne which had been left for them and poured them each a glass, dreading already having to drink it. “do you remember the first time we met?”

" so…. “ the brunette began with a scrunch of her nose. “ where are we going? “ she had promised to stop pestering her boyfriend about the whereabouts of this mysterious date he decided to take her on. after having asked over and over again for the last twenty minutes. ‘ tell me, secrets break relationships, what if i was dying would you tell me then? ‘ were just some of the few phrases she’d used during what felt like the longest car ride of her life. but hey patience was never one of her virtues, he knew that. “ i crossed my fingers. “ she justified her now broken promise, batting her eyes in his direction as a way of distracting him.
“ what’s with the secrecy anyway hmm? are you taking me to a woods babe? finally decided to let me in on your serial killer secret? who is it? i bet it’s old pete isn’t it?… and the world said romance was dead. “ she rambled on not allowing him to get a word in as was the usual between them. “ or maybe it’s a cult… we’ll end up drinking poisoned kool-aid with a room full of strangers pulling the weirdest adaptation of romeo and juliet ever? “
@aprilcdgates !!
pulling into the parking lot of what was a diner very similar to his own, if not only bigger, noah questioned his own sanity. he had thought handling riley on a longer than usual car ride would be a walk in the park, he had experienced a lot of practice recently in the art of moore, but he had been a fool -- he’d had to start tuning her out half way here just to keep himself from opening the passenger side door and shoving her onto the edge of the highway. noah always thought he’d dealt with the most annoying version of riley (lacking caffeine, half asleep, running around his diner) but what he hadn’t known was the worst was yet to come (confined in his truck, hungry, bored, caffeine overdose).
“how many times do i have to tell you i’m not a serial killer?” he groaned, shaking his head. “by the way, isn’t it a little weird how willing you are to date a suspected murder? maybe you need to take a hard look at yourself and what turns you on, moore.” he knew she’d have something to say, so he continued before he got himself killed right here. “no cult either, just a restaurant. how shocking, i know!” he jumped out of the car, making his way over to her side. he opened the door and helped her out, taking her hand once they began walking towards the entrance. “i come here a lot, or i try too, hard ‘cause i’ve got my own place but you know what i mean.” he ignored the wait to be seated sign, bracing himself for impact once he say lucy striding towards them.
“hey luce,” he took the older woman into a hug. “i know, it’s been too long.”
“sure has, noah.” she squeezed him tighter, causing him to grunt something resembling disapproval. “and you must be riley, i’ve heard so much about you from noah here. it’s nice to finally meet ‘ya.”
pssssst. i don’t know if i owe any other replies but can we pretend i don’t? awesome.
suttcnbrcdy:
jason nodded as she spoke, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration. he was fueled with anger, anger at finding a man here, anger at her being with a man, anger at this entire conversation. “that woman? that woman is my wife whether you like or not, mia! meaning she’s their step mother. you’re going to keep the kids from me because you don’t like her? like it or not they’re my kids too, amelia and you don’t get to take my right to have say in whether or not they come to my house.” the man shook his head, while he stood there angrily, practically glaring at the brunette. he understood where she came from, but surely she couldn’t keep them from coming to his house – that was their house too.
“the routine started when i went on vacation, mia!” he shouted back at her, “i’m sorry i don’t know your bullshit routine because it started when i went on my damn honeymoon because i owed her that!” jason continued, his eyes never leaving hers, “i stayed here. for you and for our kids. i promised her we would go a couple of months after they were born. i owed her that. she’s my wife.” a huff fell from his lips as amelia continued, “unbelievable. there you go again. your kids. your fucking kids,” the man nodded, there was nothing, absolutely nothing they could do or say after this. it seemed that the more they kept trying to make things work, the more they hurt each other.
“spend the rest.. did you tell me? did either one of us after that day even speak to each other about it?” he questioned, knowing the answer already. “we avoided it like the plague, mia. by the time that we decided to talk about it, i was already engaged. i didn’t choose anyone! i would have chosen you over and over again but we were both too scared to say anything and look where that fear has us! i love you. till this day, i am madly in love with you but what good is that now?”
there seemed no possible way to settle this and the only other alternative was something that he knew either of them never wanted.
“listen,” he gulped, his voice becoming softer as he came to the realization that maybe their kids was all the relationship they had now, “you and i – it just seems it’s never going to work out. you’re angry at me. you’re angry at gemma but those are my kids in there too..and no matter what i do or say, you don’t want them near her,” he paused, knowing that what he was going to say next was going to hurt both of them. her, even more. “i’ll see you in court then, mia.” jason finished, walking past her and towards the door, heading out of the apartment.
minutes after jason walked off (and mia stood silently, her mouth ajar in shock), finn showed up for his afternoon visit with the twins. amelia stupidly took this as a sign from the universe -- she deserved the last word and she was going to go and get it. throwing a few be right backs, and no explanations, in her best friend’s direction, she quickly grabbed her keys from the rack near her front door and left -- leaving all common sense behind.
in her car, mia drove haphazardly down the roads which led her towards jason -- it was a route she had taken more times than she could recount, knowing it just as well as she did the way to her own apartment, but something was different today. her usual calm and collected vibe had been thrown aside for something much darker -- if jason wanted to play dirty, well she was going to do the same. she had spent most of her life playing the role of the good girl; good daughter, good student, good friend, good girlfriend, good amelia.. maybe for once, just once, she wanted to be bad. she wanted to throw everything and everyone else aside to get what she wanted -- that want was no longer jason. it was the security of knowing her twins would be with her. that’s what she wanted.. no needed. and she was going to make that clear if it was the last thing she did.
spotting jason’s car ahead, amelia sped up. she swerved through traffic without thinking, putting the safety of herself, and all those around her, at risk until she was beside jason. she rolled down her window, prepping herself for what was to come.
“hey,” she scream through tears she wasn’t aware had started to fall, honking her horn madly. “jason ford!”
she looked back at the road in front of her, steadying her hand on the wheel before turning her attention back to her baby daddy.
“who do you think you are?” she spat, “you do not get to tell me you’re taking me to court and just walk away! we weren’t done talking yet! we won’t be done until i tell you we’re done! you need to pull over right now! jason!”
suttcnbrcdy:
“see you later, alex!” jason shouted as he watched the boy leave. blowing a whistle almost immediately after the young man turning the corner, his eyes meeting doe ones. “tsk. he looks young,” he said, almost sardonically. nope, he wasn’t too happy about his most recent findings but amelia had every right to go about her business just as he did. “did you?” he asked, walking into the apartment. “i guess i didn’t hear you, i was too busy greeting the guy but that’s okay, i’ll take them while they’re sleeping. i have their car seats with me,” he said matter-of-factly.
the man noticed the anger on the girls face, he watched her intrigued, “no, i get it,” he started, “but there was a man here. in your apartment with my kids,” he continued, “gemma, my wife, is not allowed to be in the same room, no forget the same room, she’s not allowed be in the same building because of your crazy jealous antics but you can bring a random stranger to see my kids?” the blondes eyebrows furrowed, his hands on his waist while he both watched and listened to the woman intently. jason was over the top angry, infuriated and as she continued talking about routines, his eyes widened.
“what horseshit!” jason shouted, “now there’s a routine?! just admit you’re angry amelia and call it a day,” jason scoffed, walking away and deeper into the house, “there’s a routine,” he mimicked. “since when the hell do the kids spend the morning with your mother? i mean, if you want to go ahead and get down and dirty with your twelve year old, do it on your own time, amelia. not when my kids are around.”
“the kids didn’t even know alex was here!” amelia practically screamed at jason. she had made sure to keep the twins away from her friend but seeing how bad jason was taking this, she kind of wished she hadn’t -- but this wasn’t about them. it was about what was best for the twins and what was best for the twins, mia had decided, was to keep them away from gemma. “and he’s not that young! he’s only a year or so younger than me! what? is that so wrong? better tell yourself that then, seeing as i’m a year or so younger than you! but that’s besides the point here, jason. the point is, you are not taking my children anywhere with that woman. i don’t care if she’s your wife or not, we talked about this. i do not want her anywhere near penny and davis. i’m their mother, they don’t need to put in a situation where they may get confused.”
the truth was, mia was terrified -- she was scared of her feelings for jason, she was scared of his relationship with gemma and most of all, she was scared that one day the twins would love their evil step monster more than they did her. she wasn’t going to let that happen. the blonde had taken enough from mia, she wasn’t getting anything else.
“maybe if you hadn’t run off on vacation, you’d know the routine!” they were now fighting to see who could get louder. sensing this was not close to being closer, mia slammed her front door shut. “don’t even start, you know my mom helps me out. i was tired, okay! it’s been hard with you gone and i needed a break! my mom only had them for a few hours, three at the most and alex was only here for like forty minutes, jason! you were gone for days so you don’t really get a say in how i schedule my kid’s time!”
at the mention of her sex life, she’d had enough.
“if you’re going to disrespect me in my own home, you can leave.” she said, matter of factly. “you don’t get to imply i’m a slut, jason. after that night, i thought i was going to spend the rest of my life with you. i was done. so all the boys, all the bars, who cared? i had you. but you left. you chose her. you married her. i am not going to apologize for living my life. you don’t have a say in it anymore.”
suttcnbrcdy:
third cousin? he nodded as she spoke, pretending to be eating everything up. really? was he suppose to believe that? how many times had he himself told girls that chicks where his second cousins? “oh, is that right? so, you all like to keep it in the family, is that it?” he was frustrated, angry. “oh, c’mon. really? the cousin thing? i’ve used it before, ana. think of something better. why don’t you.” lucas scoffed, shaking his head as he looked at her. his hands turning into fists. oh, he could just sock this guy in the face – but he wouldn’t, he had control or so he thought. bringing his fist up in the air, he extending his arm out and immediately punching the other right in the jaw. “stay away from her!” fish shouted at the boy. blue eyes met hazel, his eyebrows furrowing together.
“i came to ask why you haven’t been answering my text messages,” he spoke, “i thought we were good but i see sure as fuck now that i was wrong,” lucas continued, ignoring the pain that now rang in his fist. “i get i was shitty as fuck but at least text me someshit like hey, fuckboy, i don’t want anything to do with you. leave me alone or something.” lucas knew he wasn’t really owed anything due to how often he himself played her – in fact, he probably deserved it – but he was too angry to think of that right now. right now all that mattered was that there was boy he didn’t know beside her. who the hell knew their third cousins anyway?
“i was coming down here to see what was up with you and tell you that if i fucked up again, i’m sorry but i want to make this work – but i get it, new town. big school. fucking…preppy mommy loving boys,” he stopped, glaring at the boy that was rubbing his jaw. his eyes practically telling the other to stay down if he didn’t want another punch to the jaw. “…i get it.” fish glared at her almost angrily. “you want a good boy or some shit. a prince charming.” the boy shrugged, his hands now in his pocket. “you think i can’t be that for you.. but i thought we were trying again?”
liana watched in horror as her cousin went from standing up straight to cowering on the ground -- what the hell?
“lucas!” she yelled but he kept going and going and she continued to just stand here.. shocked. apparently her limbs were not in the mood to move.. nor was her mouth. she was not handling this situation very well. she watched him closely, seeing his anger grow and grow -- truthfully? she was getting a little scared. she hated when he got like this. she hated being scared of him. of course, she knew he would never hurt her but the people around her? clearly they were fair game. she was going to have a hell of a time explaining this to her grandmother.
“why don’t you head home,” she said softly in her cousin’s direction. her face looked as sorry as it could without her actually apologizing for her boyfriend’s actions. that would come later -- but she had a feeling those words would only push luke further. “i’ll see you later, really. put some ice on that and maybe head to the clinic? just to make sure nothing’s broken.” the last bit she almost yelled, her cousin scrambling to his feet as he took off. liana was just happy he wasn’t the fighting back type. that was just what she needed -- to be in the middle of a huge fight during her first month on campus. that would really help her with the whole loser thing.
“i don’t even know where to start,” she said as she huffed in annoyance. she tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear as she shook her head. “you can’t just hit people, fish! especially not people i’m related too! and yes, i’m really related to him! he’s my grandmother’s cousins’s grandkid.. or something. i don’t remember exactly but we are both becketts, through and through. i don’t know what you tell girls but i don’t lie, you know that or you should know that.”
of course, that wasn’t exactly the truth. she hadn’t been lying to him these past silent weeks but she had been avoiding him -- and that was almost the same thing, right? just as bad anyway. and seeing the look on his face as he stood in front of her now, she knew she had to explain herself now -- no more hiding behind her fear.
“i didn’t not text you back on purpose,” she started, her voice suddenly softer, her eyes now darting from specs of dirt on the floor. “it definitely wasn’t because of anything you did, fish. we’re okay, we really are. i just got busy.. like you said, new school and all. i was actually heading home earlier before he showed up. i was going to surprise you after i saw my mom but i guess that didn’t happen.” she shifted her weight from foot to foot. why was this so difficult? she was used to him disappointing her but now that the tables had turned, it was quite uncomfortable.
“that’s not what i want,” she looked back up at him, their eyes locking. “i don’t want some preppy boy on campus or some prince charming. i’ve always wanted you, that’s it. i thought you understood that.”
