Hello, it's @schoolhater. Siraj has given me his Tumblr account so that I may update you all on his situation.
He has been unable to access Tumblr for the past few days because he has been stuck in western Gaza City, right in the middle of the heaviest wave of bombing since the genocide began. I sent him the QR code for an ESim, but they require a stable internet connection to activate, so I don't know when he will be able to come back online.
Please read about his current situation in his own words. Here is a text message he sent me on Monday, Sept. 15 (emphasis and punctuation mine--he wrote this in a hurry):
The impact of nuclear missiles is devastating [according to] reports in the neighborhood we are in; from the severity of the strike, the ground shakes under us and lava comes out and then everything explodes.
Here is a message he sent me yesterday (Sept. 18):
What my family and I are going through now is one of the hardest days of the war, the atmosphere here is very terrifying, in the area we are in now there are only a very few families left only 5 families and they are preparing to leave, for us it is very difficult to leave because the transportation costs have increased a lot from a week ago, the transportation by shipping cost $500 today the transportation price is $2000 it is possible that next week the shipping owner will not be able to reach our area at this time we will leave without carrying our belongings of mattresses, blankets, covers and the supplies that we have with us, we will start from scratch again if we can leave alive.
And here is a message he sent me today (Sept. 19):
The occupation is getting very close to us. In a few days, if we do not leave, we will be besieged and will leave here in shrouds.
Siraj has begged for his survival on this website for over a year. I don't know he does it. I don't know how to inspire people to donate other than to lay out the situation as plainly as possible: we have money; Siraj's family does not; Siraj and his family will die without money. Never before has that fact been more urgent than it is right now.
There is no time for pity or begging. Siraj does not have time unless he can afford to evacuate.
As Siraj said, the transportation cost alone is $2500USD. He has received five donations in the past 24 hours, but that's not nearly enough. He will die if he cannot raise money to evacuate.
