Kaldur was extremely uncomfortable. There was so many people. Had always been more than a little socially awkward when it came to less formal events. He grabbed a beverage, turning and knocking into the person behind him. “Apologies. Are you alright?”

“I’ve never been to an aquarium.” Kaldur admitted to them. “When I was younger, my parents had taught me to fear water. OF course, they had only been protecting me. But the fear ran deep. So when my school would do things like trips to aquariums, I’d simply stay home. They did not want to risk me being around that many visible fish” he explained. “And now well, I simply do not have the time.”

Kaldur kept his distance, following the person. The first thing he noticed is that they were in their nightwear. When they didn’t answer his first few calls, he realized they were sleepwalking. He remembered that it was never good to wake one up, but they were outside. It was dangerous. So instead he followed them trying his best to keep them out of trouble. That was before they almost walked into traffic. “LOOK OUT!” he called using his powers to form a tentacle and pull them out of harms way. “Apologies for the water. Are you alright?”

M’gann understood where the Atlantean was coming from, he was never someone who enjoyed the spotlight. It was what made him great for covert operations, still she wanted to do something nice for him., “It doesn’t have to be a party then,” She exclaimed. “Just something you want to do, an activity or place that makes you happy. How does that sound?”
“M’gann.” he said her name with a sigh when she pushed on. Honestly Kaldur would love a day of peace and quiet. With no one needing something from him. A day without responsibility where he could simply relax. “I appreciate the thought and it sounds enjoyable. Honestly. But I simply have too much to do. Perhaps next year.” he smiled softly.

“Right?” He remembered a time when Kaldur towered over him, though he also remembered towering over Kaldur from a different height. His powers were weird. “I’m all proper age, at least according to the Leaguers.” They probably would have preferred him this age when they first met. Ha. “I’m actually in college now, which is kinda wild.” He grinned. “What about you? Atlantis make you king yet?” He joked.
“Well that it certainly good to hear. Though you know age was never a matter, for me at least.” he smiled patting the boy’s shoulder. “Are you enjoying it? It is always wise to further one’s studies.” he smiled. “I am not. The league keeps me quite busy. Besides, I’d never think of usurping the royal family. The Crown belongs to King Orin. And then Princess Eldoreen.” he nodded.

“Kaldur!” Billy racked his mind for the last time he had seen the Atlantean but nothing came to the forefront. Maybe a League meeting in passing? “Been too long.” He grinned.
“Hello Billy Batson.” Kaldur smile seeing the boy. “Wow, you’re sure grown since I’ve seen you last. In this form anyway.” he smiled. “how are you?”
“-so I just kept thinking and thinking and then I realized Hello M’gann!! I could just ask you what you want to do for your birthday.” She exclaimed with a wide grin. “I could plan you your dream birthday party, or non-party, just a fun birthday.” / @assemblestarter
Kaldur chuckled at her enthusiasm. “As I tell you every year M’gann, as kind as it is of you, you need not throw me a party for my birthday. I enjoy just being around my friends. No need to make a large deal out of it.” he tried to assure her. Kaldur didn’t like to have the spot light placed on him.

he gave a sigh, feeling bad that he had scared kaldur. now that he was sober he was realizing how much he had fucked up. how much he worried others. “i relapsed,” he admitted, giving a slight shrug. “i had went to rehab, i am doing better,” he assured.
Kaldur frowned hearing he had relapsed. But at least he was in rehab. It would explain the radio silence on the archer’s end. “Well I am happy to know you are doing better.” he said patting the man’s back before giving him some space. “I apologize for dropping in on you so suddenly. Were you going somewhere?”

“i’m happy to be here,” she wrapped her arms around him, holding him in a hug. it felt good to be held again by someone, let alone her closest friend. she had dreamt of that moment multiple times while recovering. it was better than she imagined. “i’ve missed you,” she finally pulled back, wiping her face. “sorry, i didn’t expect to start crying.”
“It is fine to show emotion Tula. It was one of the things I have always admired about you.” he told her, his lips curving slightly in the corners. ”Are you staying on the surface? Or will you be returning to Atlantis?” he asked curiously. He hoped she would be here for a little while, as self as it sounded.

she smiled softly, moving to take the plate out of his hands to put on the nearest surface before stepping closer so he could touch her. she didn’t think it was wise to waste food so her attention was saving it from the floor. “i am,” she smiled, moving to grab one hand and hold it to where he could feel her heartbeat. “i had just enough energy that they put me in hydro-stasis so my body could mend. i’m sure the scientists home weren’t meaning to lie. i heard it was a big chance that they’d fail.” when she was well enough years had passed and it took another just to get her strength back. “oh how i missed you and garth,” she smiled, little tears filling up. she hadn’t expected to be so emotional seeing him.
Kaldur was in a state of shock for a few moments. He stood there listening to her, feeling the warmth of her body beneath this hand. He brought his gaze back up to her eyes and realized she was tearing up. Finally breaking out of it he pulled her to him, hugging her close. “I’m so happy you’re here.” he chuckled, trying to hold back his tears. He wasn’t used to showing much emotion.

noire cringed, knowing this was going to be difficult than she realized. she would have to continue with the coffee cup lie but for how long? this guy seemed pretty smart and she was sure whatever tactics she’d use would fail miserably. this dare was so stupid to begin with, why on earth did she even take it? “um, it’s kind of a cool looking coffee cup. it has the flash on it, ya know, an art illustration and stuff, yeah it’d be hard to miss.”
“Very well. Stay here.” he said going in the door and locking it behind him. He checked the lost and found, where any items no matter how small ended up during the nightly cleaning. A few moments later her resurfaced. “Sorry ma’am. Someone must have grabbed it. We don’t have it.” he said to her.

when roy came back he had heard about kaldur asking for him. kaldur even came back to the surface. as soon as roy was settled enough, he went to find kaldur. it was good to see the lad he grew up with not be so much of a lad anymore. then again, roy wasn’t small anymore either. “hey kal,” he said, walking up behind him. “long time no see.”
Kaldur had been on his way back from Jason’s place when he heard his friend’s voice from behind. “Roy!” he sad with a smile. Relief washed over him finally seeing the man face to face. “You had me very concerned. What happened ?”

“It’s fine, Kaldur.” Oliver wasn’t upset that he hadn’t been noticed that the Atlantean was going to be showing up. He was instead concerned that he was showing up at all. “What about Roy?” He asked, stomach dropping. The last time he had seen his son, he was doing good, but that always changed. “Did he relapse again?”
“I’m not sure. We usually speak a few times a week but I haven’t heard from him. I was getting worried.” he frowned. “I was hoping you would have some insight? I know Lian’s mother has recently returned to the city. I just wanted to be sure he was alright.” Kaldur frowned. “Perhaps I should seek council with Jason.”

❛ i was going to say, i wouldn't do that if i were you. ❜ Kaldur shook his head and held out his hand for his friend to come closer. “Come . Let me dress it for you.” he chuckled grabbing the first aid kit. “You really should let Donna handle the cooking now that she is s back. I fear you may burn it down.” he teased. “Why are you cooking in the tower? I thought you had your own place now?” He had a sneaking suspicion on the way, but Kaldur had never been one to assume. “Be ready, this will sting a moment.”

tula heard how her recovery was framed as death - well, she basically was death. she wasn’t sure if he heard about her recovery or not. she walked over to him, taking a carrot off his plate and took a bite. “hello, kaldur,” she gave a soft smile.
The carrot being taken off his plate wasn’t much to phase Kaldur. He was used to never finishing a meal without someone picking at it. It was the voice that caused him to nearly drop his plate. He stood up quickly, turning to face her. It was ...unrreal.“Tula.” he sighed, not sure if he should smile or cry. Awkwardness filled his body, she always had that effect on him. “You’re....you are here?” he asked her, reaching out to touch her. He’d imagined her so many times, he thought she might just be another figment of his imagination.

“i am a regular citizen, sir.’ noire nodded surely. “who happened to leave my coffee cup in the area during the tour the other day.” she stared at him with a thoughtful frown, “plus, it’s not like there’s anything to steal in there. the only valuable thing you guys have is the hot statue of superman. other than that i just want my coffee cup.”
“I am afraid I still cannot let you in at the moment. Can you describe it? Perhaps I can be of assistance in locating it.” he offered. Kaldur was always a duty first kind of man. And right now, that duty was not letting anyone into that door. “I know it is not ideal but it’s the only solution we have at the moment.”
