"I did not get out of the cab." Kat knew it made her sound stubborn, but she didn't like that her choice had been taken from her, and that her 'friend'--a frat boy who pretended to be just that, but had obviously hoped for more and got mad when she drew that line--had made fun of her for setting a boundary. "It was," she said, shrugging.
"Mm, anyone who fat shames, or makes fun of accents." Knowing he meant more activities than behaviors, she added, "Hunting. I do not wish to hurt anything, or anyone." At school, they'd recently started studying cadavers, how different weapons could tear through flesh. She didn't like thinking of it too much, but knew better than to communicate it, at least as a med student.
Darcy laughed a little, "Good for you," he grinned. "That's so fucked. Sorry that happened, but also hope that person learned from it." He added with a little sigh.
His lips parted, brows tugged together. That hadn't been his question but he licked his lips and filed the information away regardless. "Mm," he nodded when she said hunting. "Copy that. I understand that too," he didn't ever want to pull the trigger. "We both see so much death, I don't... I don't think that's ever anything I'd be interested in in my spare time either."
"Different in that it's less fair," she said. Realizing she'd said it aloud, Raisa bit down on her tongue, returning to her silent fuming. She knew Quinton and his partner signed up for it, but she didn't care--it didn't feel like a choice. "For the record, I never want us to do something you aren't 100% interested in the moment, regardless how interested I am." She knew he liked helping her experience new things, expand her sexual palette, but fuck that if it meant selfishly stealing his option of choice.
"To be fair, I did sign the contract. They never forced us to do anything, there were just things they wanted to do? I guess there was probably pressure but, it was good money so I didn't think about it too much. It was like, get paid to do something you like to do." But that wasn't how it always felt. "In the moment? I know you wouldn't want me to do anything I'm not feeling, I wouldn't--I've never felt pressured." He didn't want her to ever think that.
"Mm, good. I told someone once and they got me in a cab for a surprise, then tried to convince me to get on a ride once we arrived." There was a difference between a surprise and a trick. "I understand the desire to help, but I do not think that is the way." It...forceful. Even manipulative.
"So you have been to Coney Island but you didn't see the beach?" he asked with a small smile, "What a dick." Darcy paused, "Sorry, that was assuming they were a guy but, statement intention stands," he corrected himself. "Do you have any other fears or like hard no's?"
Raisa nodded but didn't have anything to add, pressing her tongue against the inside of her cheek until it started to ache. She understood Quinton and his then-girlfriend wanting to get comfortable on their own terms, own time, but didn't like the industry's push for it--didn't like that it hadn't naturally been their idea. Something akin to defensiveness--on his behalf, and hell, on his girlfriend's--boiled within her for a minute, but she was trying so damn hard to learn how to stifle, to lower it to a simmer, instead of letting it flare like a firework.
Things were so different now with people putting things on websites on their own, where Quinton had been a performer for a site, they had stories, scenes, kinks, things to show off their list. He'd been contracted. "It was different than something like onlyfans then," Quinton shrugged, not fully explaining it if she wasn't interested. Still, she'd brought it up.
"Are you only saying all that so I do not sound so ridiculous?" she asked. She knew a lot of people would consider it a silly, even childish fear, especially considering how many times Katyrina had a gun pointed in her direction these past few months, but she could tell he wasn't making fun of her.
"No, god no," he sighed, "I won't step foot in a fucking lift for mostly the same reasons. It's a little box on a damn cable. No, if there was a ride I would go on it would have to be one that was inspected more than once a bloody year. A place more scared of lawsuits," he chuckled.
"I didn't say it was," she quipped, quick to knock her hip into his. "Ah. Did you like..." She bit on the inside of her cheek, not sure if she should ask--now or ever. "Audition toys, to use on-screen?" Raisa wrinkled her nose the moment she asked. "Dude, you don't have to answer that."
He ran his tongue over his lips and nodded once slowly, "Yeah, something like that." Quinton shook his head, "No it's cool. There were things that we knew they wanted me to do, and her to do, so yeah we sort of tested restraints, ties, vibrators," he'd told her that there were more intense scenes they wanted him to film and he'd done those scenes with his then girlfriend.
"I am not scared of the rides. I am concerned of where they are." She tensed against his lap, just for a second, before relaxing against him again. Her nose twitched, a frown briefly crossing her lips. "They are big metal giants on wood, on stilts, above the water."
"Right, right, it's the loose screws and the water right there--I get it," Darcy nodded slowly, "I agree, I wouldn't ride one of those things if you paid me." Elevators were bad enough. "It's actually insane that those are on wood, fuck that," Darcy shook his head.
"You don't exactly have a small collection," she teased. "That's a lot of unmarked deliveries, babe." She could make an easy guess as to why Quinton didn't shop in public, but she also didn't want to assume, definitely didn't want to ask while anyone could overhear. "Have you ever gone shopping with someone before?" It was possible she got an ego boost, each time she heard she was, in ways big or small, a standout from his exes. A first, when hers seemed to outnumber his.
"It has accrued over time," he purred almost a little sheepishly. "It wasn't all at once," Quinton shoved her gently with his hip and shook his head, grinning brightly. "To a toy store? Long time ago," he nodded, "But with my co-star so, we were trying things." Quinton explained with a little tilt of his head. "So it's been a while."
TED LASSO - 4x02 ↳ Curiouser and Curiouser
“Ah, he curses.” Looking pleased, Felicia’s eyebrows rise up in the kind of mockery reserved just for him. Better yet, the kind of mockery she reserved only for his masked self. One day she’d learn to separate the two and bury the hatchet she had with the man standing in front of her, the pathetic and nerdy Peter. “Yes, it is on you, and I really need a drink,” She doesn’t wait for him to start walking, simply trusts he’ll be behind her when she turns her head to check. “Did you manage to get any sleep? Those eyebags are getting a bit excessive for my taste, which is why we should start meeting mask-only once more.”
Peter scowled a touch then shrugged, exhaling a little sigh. "It's gotten to that point, yeah." He deserved to be called out, he hadn't been like that before. Though he really tried to keep up the Friendly Neighborhood thing while the mask was on, his grief ran deep and only fueled a rage he slowly had stopped fighting. He couldn't even catch a damn break when it came to something simple like his watch. "Me too," he sighed following her not too far behind. "Cute," he countered with a bit of a scoff. "No, I uh, I didn't really sleep." Peter brushed his hand through his already messy hair and skipped a step to catch up with her. "Not all of us have money for those little under-eye-patches," he tried to tease but all he was wondering was why she'd asked to meet.
"You’re looking at me like I’m already yours." ( tobias )
Four took a slow deep breath but didn't reply right away. His jaw tightened, his temples pulsed and he shifted his gaze. He didn't like being called out like that.
"Of course that's the part of the name you remember, she said, giving him an incredulous look. "Love Potion #69. And considering that these places are becoming more subtle with their branding, you probably had one nearby your old place." She did, but Raisa still hadn't revealed how bad her last living situation was--or the real reason she left in such a rush.
"Ohhh like the movie," he nodded, "Or song I guess," Quinton chuckled lightly and shook his head. "I didn't realize they were starting to get subtle about it," he admitted it. "I probably did, but I always shopped online if I needed something." He didn't let himself linger on the exact why he didn't often go to toy stores, but being with Raisa helped him forget. Part of him hoped that his content was long forgotten? Maybe enough time had passed that he wouldn't be known for his past career.
"Your shirt… is that blood?" ( tobias )
"It's not mine," Four replied simply but gruffly as he moved through the common area to grab food. He didn't feel like he owed anyone an explanation, ever. If she was concerned about him, which he didn't see why she would be, telling her that it wasn't his blood should have squashed it.
"Mm, rent-free would be nice," she said. Setting her phone aside, Kat drained the rest of her rose before relaxing against Darcy again, curling up while somehow occupying as little space as possible. "No. There are many horror stories about rides breaking apart." Something as massive as a carnival ride breaking on a pier would surely send people into the water.
When she tipped back her drink he followed suit then set his glass on the coffee table. Darcy leaned back and stretched his arm out behind Kat as she scooted closer. "It gets crowded, but if you go in the off season you can do all the games instead of rides. I really didn't think you'd be scared of amusement park rides."
big man, small kitten
Raisa gave him a playful roll of her dark eyes, but the tiny smirk on her lips revealed the truth; she wasn't remotely bothered, instead seeing the compliment at face value. He squeezed her hand, reassuring and proud without drawing attention to how much she hated being vulnerable, and for that, she was grateful. Raisa wasn't sure if 'power couple' suited them--not the way the term was usually used--but they were powerful, stronger together. When Quinton called her baby and pulled her close, she nuzzled into his ribs, wrapping an arm around him to give him a quick squeeze as they came to a stop at a crosswalk. It was the kind of soft, loving move she'd normally scoff at, even going far enough to shove a guy off her, but instead, she leaned into it, adding to the moment of soft intimacy.
Quinton brushed his palm over her arm, keeping his arm comfortably around her as they waited for the cross walk sign to change. When it did, he dropped his arm and slipped his hand back into hers as they crossed. "What was this place called again? Something 69?" he chuckled. "Also, what are the odds the place we move to has a fucking sex shop close by? Life is weird."
