I'm so passionate about female health because it seems like no one is. Our society shouts and shouts about female rights and reproductive health but I never see them actually fighting for medical and societal change when it comes to: maternity care, lactation support, endometriosis, PCOS, uterine fibroids, ovarian cancer, painful periods, infertility, hormonal imbalances, low progesterone disorders, excessive estrogen disorders, miscarriages, PMS, invasive birth procedures, PTSD from hospital births, poor treatment of pregnant women, postpartum depression, etc. these are all topics that are rarely brought up. These are all topics where women struggle immensely, yet little research is done about them and very little treatments are offered. Birth control is thrown at us like it solves everything when really all it does is MASK our symptoms. It doesn't solve any of these things. Women deserve to be heard. Pregnant women deserve a voice in the delivery room and deserve to know exactly what an induction does or the consequences of an epidural. Why is a mother coerced into laboring on her back when it is generally the worst laboring position for her, these are questions we should be allowed to ask. We deserve to be informed of the consequences of certain procedures or treatments. Women deserve better than to be thrown under the rug and told to take a pill or get this life altering surgery. Deal with your symptoms or shut up is our diagnosis most of the time.
