reimagined's confusing timeline ★
(figured out by me duhhh :p)
of course, we all know that classic started in the 20th century while reimagined started in the 22nd century, but to understand everything that chronologically happens in the series, we have to take it back to when chris and joy were first born (which would've been during the middle or last decade of the 21st century)
in elisha and the syrians, joy's birthday video was taken a year ago before the events of s3 (the video was probably taken in s1 or 2). since she's seen with her uniform on, we can suggest that chris and joy first started out as 6th graders/year 7s during this time, since most schools in the us start the academic year in september — possibly making joy an autumn baby (or winter if you consider her birthday to be in december)
chris' birthday, however, was celebrated in elijah and the widow. if you remember correctly, he's confirmed to be a year younger than joy and assuming what phoebe told him to buy for his party and the overall environment/weather, he was most likely born in the summer
in s1, both of the kids were 11. in s2, s3 and half of s4, chris was still 11, but joy was 12. in the second half of s4 and onwards, they're now 12 together
from what we've gathered, the kids once mentioned that they've been on an sb trip before the pilot. additionally, there is a pdf for a promo of reimagined saying that the core 3 discovered the device while hanging out. none of these were ever shown in the series but are considered to be somewhat true in the reimagined universe. the amount of time that the trio's been travelling with sb would've been around a year and a half (or at least 2 years). the christmas episodes are a big indicator of which year the series takes place in
list of what could've happened chronologically (1st year):
- let my people go (joy's version if you count hers to be canon)
- the rest of s1, 2 + 3 until the events of the first christmas and the birth of john the baptist. those two would most likely be the end of the first year
- all of s4. this would be right around when the kids are now entering 7th grade/year 8)
- all of s5 until jesus heals the blind and the promise of a child; marking those episodes as a full year and the actual end of the series
