the most beautiful scene. i felt like he was talking to a younger version of himself as well as baby jane doe. that 8 year old abandoned by his mother at his grandparents who was very aware of this abandonment. i also thought he was talking to himself a little as well.

robby, you are so loved. even when you hold people at arms length and you lash out and you fight. you deserve to heal yourself and see wonderful things and be loved.

also I started reading my fave (transmasc autistic) author Andrew Joseph White's new book, his first book in adult fic rather than YA, and damn he is not kidding about all the content warnings holy shit right outta the gate

would highly recommend all three of his YA books for sure. I know I say this all the time. TBD on this one but other than trigger central i'm sure it'll be good as his writing always is

I think Crane wanting the outside to match the inside is what finally made me realize the source of my SH.

Wanting the inside to match the outside.

Wanting to be as hurt and scarred on the outside as you are on the inside.

I think of crane putting his head in that water and it brings me a sense of peace. Despite the pain, the obvious reflection of his state of mind, and the self harm; he did it for himself.

it’s a common theme in the book that crane has a hard time existing without guidance, and him burning his face was a way to take back control.

it’s beautiful in a way.
