The way Leah Sava Jeffries does these micro expressions every time Walker’s Percy says something so loyal it’s unhinged? Like Annabeth’s world keeps getting tilted from its axis?
Oh this girl is talented alright
I finally watched Clueless and I cannot believe it took me so long. Absolutely incredible movie in general but it was such a good Emma adaptation, I'm honestly shocked by how well it worked. Loved the attention to detail like Elton's love declaration happening in a car and Tai burning all of the mementos she kept!! I'm still dying over how they modernised Frank Churchill's arc💀!! Also Paul Rudd was an exceptional Knightley.
Clueless, along with Fire Island (an amazing modern queer retelling of Pride and Prejudice) proves that Jane Austen's novels work in any time and any setting. Her characters and stories are timeless.
5 stars. Masterpiece.
as a movie-only enjoyer, tuah’s lore dump library didn’t really work for me. i rewatched the first movie last week and ykw i like it best when “truths” about the immortality are gathered from the team’s observations and notes on their experiences, or when they debate the whys, hows, and whats of said experiences.
—we dream of each other. they stop when we meet.
—why?
—i believe it’s because...
—why us?
—that way madness lies.
i like it when it leans towards vagueness in the first movie, the way that the older ones are so old that sometimes some things are lost to the mists of time or memory. i like that we don’t have a pinned era of birth for andy, quynh, and lykon. even a definite answer on who’s older, lykon who lost his immortality earlier or andy, is left open.
—how old?
—too old.
—andy was alone for a long time before she found someone like her, a very long time.
i’m also more interested in the snippets of old experiences they drip-feed to curious baby member nile and by extension, the audience, like the abandoned mine in val d’argent. andy says that they’ve been using it as a safehouse since the 1150s which, if we put that tidbit together with earlier notes on the timeline by nicky and joe (eg. they died in the crusades + andy and quynh had been companions before the crusades + quynh was locked into the iron maiden in tudor england) then it means that quynh also lived in that mine, that it’s likely that the stuff piled in there is not only andy’s but also quynh’s.
more of that and less of the exact mechanics, the stripping of the mystery, of the immortality kplsthnx.
The violence of decolonization, of fighting back against an imperial/colonial force, is absolutely required for liberation
Butches 💕
I just finished reading ’Stone Butch Blues’ for the first time. A book has never wrung out so many tears out of me - both the happy ones and those you cant stop, the ones that feel as if theyre sucking out all the air out of your lungs.
Never before have i seen myself in a main character so much, which was both exhilarating and terrifying. I don’t think till now it has really sunk how lonely life as a butch can be.
I mourn the version of myself that never got to talk to an older bull butch, to ask how we’re supposed to survive this, how to not feel like a fraud. I mourn that we dont have spaces for dykes anymore, no refuge to go to.
Even with the heaviness of all that - i’m hopeful. The message that Leslie Feinberg left me with is „Fight tooth and nail for your community. Organize. Love each other.” Its just incredibly difficult to find that very community to give my all to.
The book is free, posted by the author on the link above - i urge you, give it a try. Its not only meaningful, its well written as well.
i had the idea for this last tdov but it didnt come together until now 🥖🍷 though i'm not religious, this quote is beloved to me
Butch wearing a shirt that says butch bait, you agree.

hang on to every single aborted half-finished flimsy unrefined story/narrative/oc idea u have ever gotten obsessed w for 36 hours and then set aside like "idk how i'm ever going to use this. oh well", and/or every story bit u ever test drove for a while but then got bored of/outgrew but always thought a little longingly about, etc, bc maybe one day u are goign to get nailed straight in the forehead w the cumulative story idea that instantly combines like literally every single one of them. i do not guarantee that story will be good but what can u do
