Counter Possession Measures
I met someone today and I gave them this website, so it made me feel like I should post something on here. These are some words I wrote down to melody I was playing a few weeks ago.
Counter possession measures running wild through my mind speeding up counter clockwise and erasing all the time feel it running roughshod through me daemonic and that’s fine first time in such a long time feel my soul flow out like wine
Counter possession measures they’re eclipsing all the light that they try to shine right through me from spires upon high feel them tickling my neurons into a frenzied dance as energy trapped within me is released out from its trance
Counter possession measures automated immune response from their anti-acrobatic asceticism of cosmic dust feel them crawling through my skin automated programs of sinister inertias with anthropotechnic stares
Counter possession measures auto-plastic self repair to drive out unwanted hexis of a cultural master promulgated endless virus so catapult me from its glare too high, vertically ascended you’ll never reach me from Down There!!

I’ve spent years in frantic flight from my own beating heart a million miles I’ve run away to only find myself at the start wondering why I spend the time dwindling like wax dripping in the dark such frantic heartbeats of fright running from the phantasmic ghouls of my own mind’s mighty spark I’m deciding now to stop the race, to go inside, deep within to really feel the heart that sends blood to my own very writing hand to soothe and massage each self inflicted wound so that someday I can feel the present without my blood clotting and sending me, always around each bend, to the coroner’s room.

This is the first three paintings of a series I am going to pursue based upon herbal formulas from traditional Chinese medicine (Its what I went to graduate school for). You see, in Chinese herbal medicine, each formula, and in fact each herb, has a very specific nature, quality, or action. Their flavors, their colors, the way they cause your body to react, and the cascading changes they cause within the body, make each herb unique and individual. Chinese herbal formulas are carefully balanced in order to avoid side effects, unlike western drugs which are synthesized to be extremely potent, but are often very harsh to the body as well.
The idea I had was to look at the composition of some of the most classic formulas, meditate upon the ingredients and the actions of each of the herbs and how they interact to create a cohesive whole, and then attempt to spontaneously capture the feeling this sparked within me as an image. These are the first three results. I found that this was also a great study tool for me, and I will be creating more in the future at some point.
The herbal formulas depicted are as follows:
Photo 1 - Liu Jun Zi Tang - ‘6 Gentleman Decoction’
Photo 2 - Xiao Yao San - ‘Free and Easy Wanderer Power’ (the name is a reference to a chapter in one of the Daoist classics by Zhuangzi)
Photo 3 - Ba Zhen Tang - ‘8 Treasures Decoction’

Summer Archaeology
I wrote this piece before a group meditation last summer, in 2014. There are two parts. This was written before meditating, the second part after meditating. They both unconsciously manifested in various ways. This blog is one manifestation of these writings.
I'm digging and sifting through caverns deep within my soul, full of booby traps and snake pits. To reach the Pharaohs chamber is the metaphor for my goal, but the path remains unknown. Archa is the word that was shown to me months ago and I use it to symbolize the process. Experiments will take place in which I am the subject but also the researcher. What do I expect to find?
I want to pull sounds and structures out of nothingness and into this universe. Physics tells me that everything in the universe already existed at the beginning of time. Does this account for the music buried deep within my soul? I don't know what lies underneath such sediment. My guitar will be a serpent staff which I will use to cast incantations and spells; a snake charmer. I want to emanate vibrations of creativity this summer. I want them to flow out of me like the heat waves off of hot pavement blacktop. I want to mix my creative DNA with foreign samples to create solutions that have never been heard or seen before.
But really, I am curious as to what could possibly lie under the limestone and miles of sand. Will I be pleased with what I find, or horrified? How can one understand the brain without going out of mind? This summer represents evolution. But the caterpillar cannot conceive of life as a butterfly. Still, one day it retreats to the cocoon to fulfill its contract.
How I used to meditate
from an old notebook:
observe value judgements like water falling through cracks slipping in between the holes of my focus push through discomfort of the eyes turned towards the self it feels like sliding across sand paper my back hurts today
