When I feel I want a easy shot and feel a bit cheap, I'll just head over to the welding shop!.. a great place to let take your camera off your hip!
My Favorite "move your lens while taking a photo shot!"
So, just select a focal point, put your shutter on bulb, aperture as tight as possible, adjust f-stops as much as it will let you and move your lens front or back as you press the shutter!
My rather Abstract, Cubist version of the 300,000 previous photos of Fargo's "Bras on Broadway"...
this was the first time a senior wanted pics of me taking pics of them!.. it was a great idea and makes an interesting story!
Brown, Yellow and Red Leaf Study...
Buffalo River State Park 10/13
Sometimes when you search for a photo, your best shot is looking back.. Everything aligned in this image.. clouds for great exposure, color for the time of year and the peacefulness of a quiet fall park. Sounds corny, but sometimes, maybe like a runner's high, you feel you are part of the photo instead of searching for the photo.
Senior Pictures and Downtown Fargo is a natural fit... I like to step out of the box if I can, but I like this some aspects of this one:
1) The subject is framed by two distinctive downtown characters.
2) I like the subtle reflection in the window
3) I like the body language of the two and the way that one naturally looks away.
4) The Senior is has a subtle highlight.
Can't wait to do the rest! (probably more traditional)
I'm always looking for composition, it seems I always need to be reminded that in photography the "Less is More" approach usually results in the best image.. I'm not saying this is a great image, but you would probably drive by this a gazillion time before realizing that it had image potential. Many times, I think about where I want to put myself to get a good image, but usually it's the "found" settings seem to be the richest.. Even in Landscape photography, it can easily look "propped" or "set up". These found images usually require a second trip, a different angle, or come in at a different direction.. I'ts usually not just there for you, you have to recognize the potential of the shot, then go out and find the composition it was mean to be
Car photography is an interesting lot.. First of all, No one really wants a Ford image if they are Chevy owners regardless of the lines and composition. What I see in a car show for images is completely different than the buyers.. better off photographing a sunset.. Meanwhile, I'm such a sucker for the lines and reflections.
Tower City and Buffalo Cruize today!
Fargo's alley's and tracks.. not often photographed.. much more interesting than different views of the marquee..
Senior Pics!
Downtown Fargo Imagery... Rain is miserable, but the rewards in lighting and bringing out the colors is worth it!!
