Fearsome beast, trying to attack the training sword the first time she saw it

The thing about Miss Piggy is that she kind of has a Roger Rabbit comedy superpower where she wins nearly any conceivable fight she's in. But unlike other characters of which that's true, like say, Bugs Bunny, who tend to win because they make the opponent play the game with their rules, Miss Piggy wins because the joke is that she can beat the shit out of literally anybody.

blacksmiths--or people who know stuff about blacksmithing--i have a possibly stupid question that feels like it should be obvious but i want to be sure: does the anvil get hot when you're working a hot piece of metal on it. could a person theoretically come up behind a blacksmith who is working at their forge and put their hands on the anvil to pin them against it. also are anvils even high enough to do that even if they don't get hot.

#as I was directly baited #it is very very rare for the anvil to get too hot to touch they are very much a heat sink and often a smith has to plan their heats around #how much will get lost to the avnil will you are hammering #the smith who trained me talked about how in the colder months it was often good to start with more basic projects in the morning #both to get into the swing of things but also to test how much heat you are lossing to it that day #as it varies depending on if its plus 30 or minus 30 by a lot #they also would say that starting with these simple projects would “warm up” the anvil #which is would really except maybe marginally #the only time that i have ever experinced that anvil getting warm is when we were working on a major project #with really thick metal and like 4 smiths constantly working to keep a constant stream of iron on the anvil #and even that didnt heat an anvil hot enough to be dangerous in any way #just like got it to room temperature at most #and yes anvils are supposedto be about waist height #and specifically measured to the smith that is the primary smith of the shop #as that helps keep them from having repetitive muscle strains and hurting themselves ergonomics are important #the thing i will bring up is what style of anvil are you putting into this story #if its a “london pattren” style which is likely what you picture when you think of an anvil first started to be mass produced #in the mid 19th century #thats the one with the horn and the long face with one foot in the middle #its reallt good has a lot of utility and while a number of companies made them there were a few that made them incredibly well which is why #they became the standard #but before that (and to some degree after) there were a wide vareity of other styles of anvils used around the world.#french ones tended to have four feet and look like little creatures #a lot of chines and japanese ones were big upright rectangles #a lot of traditional african anvils were hard stones or blocks of iron #they have a wide range of shapes and styles #the next gen will always have a soft spot in my heart for showing the people of Barkon 4 having a anvil design completely unique to them #also different smiths would have different sizes of anvils #some of the largest were the railroad anvils that can get up to 3 to 5 hundred pounds. that largest was 1352 and used for fixing anchors #but i also have a really cute 5 pound jewelers anvil

Going to your first dream island in pokopia is a really fun experience of doing your best to take everything that's not nailed down, some of the things that are, and the nails.

I really love how close pokopia is to going yeah spontaneous generation is real if you set up the right conditions pokemon will just appear, but pulling away from it by establishing that these are (in some cases) specific pokemon with established relationships with each other reappearing, not new ones being created. So functionally the pokemon have the power to disappear into the ether if they don't like what their conditions and only return when the conditions are met again. Or as I like to think of it, hibernation + and a much better way of handling winter then we have.
