Rose was lost. No matter how many times she looked between the map and and her surroundings, she just couldn’t make heads or tails out of this thing. Seeing how she was losing daylight fast, the mouse gathered up what little courage she had and asked a passerby, “Excuse me, but do you know the nearest place I can rest my head for the night?”

“… Hello there, ma’am.” The male mouse tipped his hat– A pleasant beige fedora crushed in at the top. “I think I c’n help you find something satisfactory. I’m a reporter, so I pretty much know my way around any place.” He smiled but not to where it would become uncomfortable to the lady rodent.

“Cameron Squeak. I will admit I’m somewhat of a fa-mouse person, but I don’t let it go to my head, and I hope it won’t go to yours… Uh, meaning there’s no reason to be uptight around me if you already know my face ‘r name from the news ‘r somethin’…” He shuffled his feet forwards, sort of just assuming she would follow. Cam could be absent-minded in that way.

“I’m sorry! If you’d follow alongside me, ma’am, I can take you there myself. I was on my way to a conference at the hotel Ritz-Crackerton; as it happens, right across the street is a place much more affordable. It’s where I usually stay when I have business at the Ritz…”

If you could run away from it all, where would you go?” Yes. It is semi-ironic- the pilot turning the questions on the reporter? Dameron didn’t much care though.
