Hit bench after squats. Like squats, I gave myself 3 attempts, and I opened with something I knew I could hit, 285. It went up like butter. I was debating between going for 290 or 295, but I said “fuck it lets go balls deep” and went for 295. It felt like 285. From there I KNEW I could hit 300 and gain admission into the 300 club, so I hit that shit, as you see in this video. After hitting 300, I got a little too confident and tried to hit 3 plates. I was quickly humbled by the iron. But its ok though- 300 is a respectable number. Lately my bench has been feeling really good! Im definitely going to work on my pause though.

Thanks man! It took hours of searching find a tank-top of it... but soon after I bought it I saw a tank-top similar to it except it had king kai's symbol on the back. It's really easy to find shirts, but not tanks .___.
Last, but most definitely not least, I did deadlifts. IN THE SPIRIT OF HALLOWEEN, I DID THESE IN MY BANANA COSTUME. It was my MISSION IN LIFE for this whole day to hit 4 plates. Ive been dreaming of this moment since I started lifting. My opener was 4 plates- i wasnt having anything less than that. So I walk up to that bitch and rip that shit straight off the ground like it was 135. That shit was hella free. Honestly that was all I wanted to do- I wouldve been completely happy just hitting 405, but it was so easy that I knew I could go up, so I attempted 425. That felt like 405! My buddy was like "dude I bet you could hit 4 plates and a quarter if you had a belt on!" But I dont own a belt... I ended up going for 455 anyway. That shit was a grinder, but I picked it up! With my new maxes, my total is 1140, a 110 pound increase!

Aaayyyye finally got into the gym yesterday after a week long recover phase to prep myself for maxing out. Obviously I gotta start with squats. I gave myself 3 attempts, like in a powerlifting meet. My opener was 355 which went up really easily. I knew I could hit it, but I just wanted to see how my legs were feeling that day. From there I went on to my projected max, which was 375. That was actually my old max, but lately ive been trying really hard to train myself to hit depth, something I've always had trouble doing. I hit 375 pretty easily. Honestly my goal this time was to hit depth on 375, but I had one more attempt so I decided to go for a 10 pound PR and hit 385. I wasn't sure if I could hit depth so I had a guy from the powerlifting team watch and record me. The video wasn't very good because the cage got in the way, so i tried recording it again from a different angle, which is this video. So in the end, I guess I gave myself 2 attempts on 385. I just wanted to make sure I hit depth, and honestly I still dont know if I did. Gotta work on that in my next training cycle. That and core strength to keep myself more upright.

Did 385 for a 2x2. Man, my bench and deadlift are really improving nowadays! The first rep went up pretty easily on both sets, but the second one was a grinder on both sets. My spotter was getting ready to grab the bar since the rep was looking pretty shaky. I noticed that I started flaring my elbows pretty early in my second rep compared to my first rep, so I loosen up. Dang, I gotta make every rep look competition worthy. I cant really say that now though since these were touch and go. I need to work on my pause in my next training cycle. I switched up my foot placement( cant really see it in the video)- now I bench with my heels off the ground and my feet tucked in way behind me, as advised by the powerlifting team's coach. I need to get used to it still, but i'll definitely put my trust in the coach. This will be my last heavy sets until next Friday when I go for some new one rep PR's!

That shit felt hella heavy on my back. I think it’s because lately I haven’t been squatting as heavy so I could train myself to reach the proper depth. That has always been an issue for me… The forward lean in my squat is kinda dramatic… Ive been told that maybe that’s what’s making me think that im reaching depth when in reality I still have a little bit to go. Needa work on keeping my chest up! In other chest related news, yesterday I benched 280 for 2x2. My old max was 275, and I just hit more than that for a couple reps, so im excited to see what my new max will be.
