Spending a day reading as a reward for getting some writing done. I will probably due a major writing day on Thursday. I seem to have gotten slightly past my problem scene/dialogue in this current chapter.
It involved a character making a joke/comment to the MC and it was trying to get it right since later on the character who made the joke is part of the MC’s friend group and is very protective of him. The struggle was trying to make it believable on him being slapped but not so offensive/wtf when the two talk later and become friends. 🫠
Anyway, back to my book. Definitely enjoying volume 5 of Heaven Official’s Blessing by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu

Huge haul from my local Thai-Laos store. It's a small business and they closed them all up except this last one. It's my Disneyland. So much gluten free goods and staples. Some splurges too. $75 🥹🤐 But it was well worth it for me. ❤️

There was a lot of color for a few minutes this morning. This morning fog has thinned a bit but it was a pretty start for Saturday.
Today will be a rest day because my body is telling me that I need to stay off my feet. I guess I am not as young as I used to be and I have been pushing myself too hard lately. Okay, fine. 😠

Sometimes you just need a rest day
Yesterday's mission was rest and recovery, and it was an extra challenging one since I didn't sleep well the previous night and knew I'd be stressed last night as well. One thing I knew I could do right was food, though. I focused on eating when I was hungry (which was often) and eating good and balanced options.
Not long after breakfast, I was already hungry again, so I did an apple with some PB Fit. For lunch, I had leftover rice and chicken thigh with frozen peas, butter and seasonings.
In the afternoon, I went to my massage appointment, and it was such a win. I basically got foam rolled by a human forearm. 10/10.
My partner got back from his trip with my mother in law in tow, so I needed dinner for three. I picked this recipe inspired by @afitterbrittany's Turkey Assistant (don't have TikTok, so I couldn't access the original recipe!) I modified it very slightly by grating in a zucchini and carrot and used whole wheat elbows instead of white or chickpea pasta. It was a hit!
As I expected, last night was rough. My MIL is unwell (dementia) and it was stressful to have her in the house. I did everything I could to get some sleep, but I was just too anxious and jumpy that she was going to do something she shouldn't. I was awake a lot, and that's two nights in a row of poor sleep. Aside from being tired, I feel okay, though. My legs feel much better.
This evening, I want to try to check out the run club again and use that as my returning run today post-race.
On a lighter note: I wanted to take a picture of these cute slippers I got over the weekend, but one of my cats decided it was time to make her blog debut instead, so here's a cat reveal!
