Getting up early had its perks and one of that being this. She rolls over and smiles at the serene look of Carol's sleeping face. A rare sight, for sure. A blessed one indeed. Hitsugi remembers Elfnein telling her of the date, 3rd March. She closes in and gently brushed stray strands of hair from Carol's face. "Happy Birthday" she says, kissing her forehead. A proper birthday greeting awaits the woman when she's awake later, but for now, it's time to bake the cake!
Considering her long life, there were a multitude of things that Carol has forgotten. She threw away various ideals, dates, friends and people all for her ideals and goals. Of course, that was how she used to be. Things have changed, and surprisingly, for the better.
What would things be like if she simply erased herself from existence, along with any possible trace of herself for people to cling to? It was a rather depressing thought, wasn’t it? But perhaps that’s something that managed to manifest due to what today actually was.
It was an important day, wasn’t it? At least, to some extent. Hitsugi was surprisingly much more inept at remembering dates. Carol could remember the day they met, their anniversary, even simple things such as making a mess in the living room once from getting a bit too eager in research.
‘But I suppose it’s because those thoughts…are ones I don’t want to forget.’
No longer did she wish to erase her memories, even back then she didn’t, but it was different now. A different out look, one that the one beside her managed to help invoke, whether she realized it or not. Carol sat there with her thoughts, a warm feeling enveloping her body even with Hitsugi already making noise.
“…I have long since thrown away something so simple. But maybe, it’s not so bad.”
And it wasn’t, not anymore, once she noticed the young woman baking as she walked into the kitchen.
“You’ve been busy I see.”
