โYOU EVER JUST wannaโฆ not?โ Areum mused softly, a desperate languor descending heavily upon her. โYou ever get to the point that everything feels like such a chore, and youโd rather justโฆ not?โย Recently, it was a recurring event for the vampire, and she had to wonder if life had always been so monotonous, or she'd simply been too busy to notice before. Either way, she was long overdue some excitementโperhaps her companion would happily indulge her need for chaos? Arching a finely shaped eyebrow, a light entered deep, obsidian eyes, and Areum felt a smirk tugging at her lips.

Father died in the war, mother left to raise the children alone.
Growing up, Areum became caretaker to her siblings while their mother went in search of work, and she always resented the fact.ย
When she was twenty-six and still childless, she garnered yet another admirer in a long line of men trying to woo her. Heโd follow her into the forest whenever she collected plants for food, offering to help. She always refused, but he wasnโt to be deterred.ย
At first she assumed he was harmless, just one more man vying for her heart. And then one night he cornered her alone in the forest, trying to convince her that courting him was a good idea. She rejected him, yet again, and things quickly turned physical.
He tried to physically restrain her, and when she screamed, he attacked. The man bit her in a bid to silence her, and to Areumโs surprise, started drinking her blood.ย She fought hard, but it was fruitless against the much larger male.
His feeding was interrupted by the sound of approaching footfalls, so he gathered Areum into his arms and fled deeper into the woods. Too weak to fight anymore, she could do little more than cling to her attacker.ย
She lost consciousness, and when she awoke she was in a strange room, the man that had attacked her, standing over her, offering her his wrist. Confused and alarmed in equal measure, Areum started a weak fight against the other. He was rambling, but she barely heard him. Something about turning her, so sheโd be his forever. She scratched and clawed at the man, screaming for help and trying to get away.
He pinned her to the makeshift bed sheโd awoken on, and covered her mouth and nose with both hands. She didnโt make it easy for him, but soon the world around her started to fade to black.ย
Then as quickly as sheโd succumbed to the encroaching darkness, she was opening her eyes, only to be met with the same inky blackness as before. Only it was denser, much more intense.ย
Realising sheโd been buried, Areum started digging her way out, and it didnโt take long from there to figure out that sheโd undergone some serious changes. The moment her eyes opened, she found herself filled with an insatiable hunger, only her appetite wasnโt for run of the mill, regular food. No, she wanted blood, and as much of it as possible.
Her attacker was long gone, but the villagers whoโd come to her aid the night of her attack, were still searching the forest for her. She had no idea how much time had passed, but she needed to eat. And they smelled so good. She attacked the men, draining the blood from their bodies, and leaving their corpses for someone else to find.
Confused and horrified by her own actions, Areum made her way home, to find her brother there alone. Without thinking things through, she attacked him, draining the blood from his body. Shocked and horrified by her own actions, Areum fled.
She went to Seoul, where she roamed the streets at night, feeding on any lone stranger she happened upon. She learned fast that daylight was something sheโd never walk in again, and set about discovering everything she could about what had happened to her.ย
Areum dedicated herself to the discovery, and as her life passed, she found clan after clan, but had no intention of joining any. She just wasnโt one for being part of a team, or family. Sheโd had enough of that growing up. She loved her freedom. But it got lonelier as the years went by.
During her travels, Areum learned about Wilshire, and headed there. Her arrival was a quiet one, and sheโd didnโt do much to integrate at first, choosing instead to live hidden in the shadows. She needed money though, and started dancing in nightclubs to make ends meet. She could afford decent enough accommodation, and no one at her job asked any questions.
Without a clan, and not searching for a family, Areum decided that maybe a partner would be nice to have around. Someone to truly bond with. So she volunteered for just that.ย
โI donโt like making assumptions since I havenโt been long but,โWangji paused to take a long sip of his milkshake.ย โWhy do most of the inhabitants here seem always on edge?โ
โITโLL BE THE stick,โ Areum murmured softly, clutching at the straw in hand and using it to swirl her frothy milkshake. Not that she had any intention of drinking it, but keeping up appearances was important in Wilshire. โFirmly lodged up most peopleโs asses.โ
