medea helped jason, leader of the argonauts, to obtain the golden fleece from her father, king aeëtes of colchis. she was of divine descent and had the gift of prophecy. she married jason and used her magic powers and advice to help him. in one version, when they fled and were pursued by aeëtes, jason, in conspiracy with medea, cut her brother apsyrtus to pieces and threw him into the sea to delay the pursuit. jason and medea had fled colchis with the fleece and had been driven out of iolcos because of the vengeance taken by medea on king pelias of iolcos (who had sent jason to fetch the fleece).
jason deserted medea for the daughter of king creon of corinth; in revenge, medea murdered creon, his daughter, and her own two sons by jason and took refuge with king aegeus of athens, having escaped from corinth in a cart drawn by dragons sent by her grandfather helios.Â
âhm, yeah youâre probably right ed. you should go into pr, celebs need more people like you in their corner.â the sirens in the distance made the decision for him. âyes, anywhere is fine â but a brisk jog might do it.â looking back at the driver who was frantically looking through their glove compartment for who knows what, thorne nodded, self assured. âletâs go iâll owe you one, one⊠whatever. just lead the way.â
he shot him a grin. âiâm my own pr team, thorne. you learn a little something after the first drunken snapchat story.â nodding quickly, he gestured behind him. a street that seemed to be slightly busy. âwe could lose them real quick in a busy new york sidewalk, come on. iâll tell you what you owe me later.â
âI would suggest leaving rat poison all over your apartment, but then if youâre gone too long the bodies would start to smell and that would be the worst welcome home present you could ever have.â Imagining the smell alone was enough to make Zander fake gag and in his heart of hearts he knew that the smell would be much worse than anything he could ever imagine.
He shook his head, frustration visible on his face. âI should save my money more. To pay for these things. I admit that I often forget about it because, yâknow, Iâm too distracted when Iâm travelling. Like who thinks about their apartment when youâre inside the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona?â
blue orbs stared into the wall opposite them, with a look that almost read as questioning before they snapped back to reality. blinking a few times, willow looked back at the person they had been talking to before a vision overtook her. âiâm sorry what were you saying?â she asked them, however she barely let them get a word out before she cut them off again. âi wouldnât go back to your apartment until later by the way⊠wouldnât want to go there now.â was the message vauge? maybe. a little cryptic? yes.
eddie thought it would be a good experience. heâs never been to a psychic, though his mother was a closeted believer, he was sure of it. however, he really didnât know what to expect. it was on a whim, after all. especially when he looked up the myth ( or well, not really a myth ) of clotho. he supposes that maybe asking her about his future -Â âdying lonely?â - could come true. at her words, his frown worsened.
âmy apartment? damn, i guess the rats are still in there.â he remarked. âguess i really need a exterminator.â
raina laughed, she looked over the chips with a very serious look before nodding at the selection.Â
â i think those will do. but maybe next time, something besides snacks? i know you at least can make pancakes. âÂ
there was something about his slight blush that made her stomach drop, as if she had dropped off a rollercoaster. it was familiar but spooked her nonetheless.Â
â your mom has much more right, doesnât she? youâre always traveling. at least, thatâs what i heard. â
putting the basket back down, he nodded. âi guess, but i donât know if everyone considers pancakes to be âproperâ meeting food. i always assumed everyone expected like..casual snacks.â he shrugged. âlike pretzels, or i donât know.â
at her question, he smiled and nodded. âjust came back from italy, actually. which warrants at least a week visit to my mother. and yeah, she does have a right to that. she just worries so much, you know? like iâd fall off a yacht while sailing or something.â
lips twisting into a wry smile, thorne shrugged. âdo you think theyâd believe me if i said it was just whey protein instead of soy protein?â looking around as the crowd grew around them, thorneâs grin faltered. âyou know a good place nearby that i can hide out at until this blows over?â
âas long as you donât say that in front of the media, i think youâre good.â eddie remarked. âcause once the media gets hold of it, you know theyâre gonna try and find something âinaccurateâ about whatever youâll say.â eddie weighed his options and eventually decided that to house another one like him wouldnât be too bad. âmy place isnât too far from here. hope youâre okay with walking? maybe running if we have to outrun a few nosy people.â he said, glancing at the growing crowd.
âSadly, thatâs most likely true. At least it would be one hell of a show.â There wasnât much point in taking off his clothes now that they were soaking wet, but he figured he might be able to get the water out of them with his powers so he too began undressing by pulling the shirt over his head and tossing it in the general direction of where heâd left his bag. âMy first time on the subway I saw one that was the size of a small dog. I almost pet it too but someone warned me it might have rabies and thatâs when I realized it was a rat.â
At the story, he had to laugh. âA dog-sized rat? Classic. Yeah, itâs why I have a lot of rat traps at the house. Youâd think I wouldnât care since I travel so much, but before, whenever I get home, there would always be a swarm of them waiting for me.â He visibly cringed. âWish I could hire an exterminator one of these days.â
âThatâs what I like to see,â he exclaimed as he moved out of the way so that Eddie could jump in beside him. âBesides, I bet it wouldnât be the first time that a pair of dudes ran around the city in towels. These crazy New Yorkers would probably not even bat an eye at the sight.â
âiâm sure theyâve seen worst. itâs new york.â he removed his phone and wallet from his pocket and placed them near his shoes and shirt before he took off his pants. âi donât know about you, but iâve seen bigger rats here than..literally anywhere else. thatâs concerning.âÂ
raina canât help the snicker that slips out, itâs just so incredibly awkward the way eddie says fruit- it reminds her of the first time they ever met, almost eight years ago. the way she had giggled and got giddy over every word he said to her. she shifts in place anxiously, nodding.Â
â my gram will be happy, sheâs always complaining i never bring gifts by anymore. says iâm too busy to visit her. âÂ
it went unspoken about why raina was so busy, it was hard to act like everything was okay when your world was suddenly flipped upside down.Â
â did you, uh, get anything to bring for the next meeting? â
though slightly blushing, he was relieved that his little slip up may have resolved even a sliver of tension from the air between them. at the mention of rainaâs grandmother, he gave the first real smile heâs given anyone today.Â
âi know the feeling. my momma says the same thing with me and my brother. gotta visit home from time to time.âÂ
he lifted the basket to her eye level. âdo chips count? iâm no chef, you know that.â eddie joked.
âYouâre honestly a true pal, where would I be right now without you? Probably trying to flood the entire city so that it wouldnât get out that I fell into the pool fully clothed.â He jokes as he kicks his feet to propel him towards where Eddie is sitting. âSo are you just going to dip your feet or are you actually getting in?â
âsounds about right.â he joked. he waited until zander was right where he was, weighing his options. âi donât know man. i donât really have a change of clothes, so..you know.â he pursed his lips. âwait, that never stopped me before. what the hell.â he muttered before taking his shirt off.
raina had expected to never see eddie again once he graduated, she knew he was traveling now and she was busy herself with the kids. however, apparently she wasnât the goddess of luck because he had walked into the god club one day and was introduced as jason reincarnated- that same meeting she had said she was going to the bathroom and then climbed out the window to head back home. she avoided talking to him for awhile, but, here they were. stuck in the same grocery store line and she knew she couldnât keep quiet for the next ten minutes.Â
â did you see that sale on cherries? almost bought the whole shelf. â
eddie didnât know how much could change when he walked into that one god club meeting. for years he thought that maybe him and raina were just..done. that maybe the only interaction theyâll have is through social media or âa friend of a friend saw her in that placeâ and âisnât she your ex?â kind of questions from curious people. he switched the basket he was holding from his left hand to his right. heâd been thinking of what to talk about for the last few minutes, trying to find one that could maybe last more than a few answers. he was relieved when she spoke up first.
âyeah, cherries are great. gotta love that fruit.â he found himself answering, voice going up a slight pitch at fruit, silently cringing shortly after. really? gotta love that fruit?
âThe sad part is that Iâm completely sober so I canât even blame it on the alcohol.â He pouted looking up at Eddie. âThis was all me and my clumsiness how will I ever show my face in this place again.â It was true, though, whenever he was on dry land he was the most clumsy person he knew, but as soon as he set foot in the water that all changed.Â
he gave a comforting smile. âyouâll be okay. team god club, right? you got this!â eddie tried to reassure him. âif anything, you could pretend to be drunk. iâll vouch for you.â he offered.
to say that thorne was in a bad mood was a slight understatement. sure he got hit by a car but there wasnât any damage to the nissanâs body so he didnât understand why he couldnât just go. sitting cross-armed in the street, he huffed, much like an oversized toddler when a shadow loomed over him. âbefore you ask, yeah, i looked both ways before crossing the street. i looked both handsome and radiant, too bad i still got hit by that car.â
to say that he couldnât believe the scene in front of him was an understatement. unlike the other gods, his own ability wasnât as flashy, so his exposure to things like this was lower than your average reborn god. âbad news is, theyâre probably curious to how you survived. and iâm sure the good news is that youâre still..handsome and radiant..â
âI know what youâre going to say, âBut Zander itâs not skinny dipping if you donât take your clothes off firstâ to which Iâll just tell you ahead of time that I was trying to take my shoes off and I somehow ended up losing my balance and falling into the pool fully clothed. Donât judge me, Iâm sure itâs happened to other people before me.â He calls out wiping water out of his face so he can make out whoâs judging him from the edge of the pool.Â
eddie sat at the edge of the pool. his feet soaked in the water while his socks and shoes sat neatly near him. eddie stopped by earlier to just relax. he found the water to do the job. he had laughed out loud as the other fell in. âiâm sure you did your best, man.â he remarked, giving a wave to the other.Â

eddie joined because it was something new, something exciting, but he knew everything would change if he chose to go back to olympus ; he had lots of things he wanted to do still
he finds the whole thing exciting though. loves being part of something.
