that’s right, folks, we’re back! Argonauts is revamping and will be getting started soon, so be sure to follow the new main, and let me know over there if you have any questions--

I apologize for my relative absence the past few days -- tumblr has been giving me a bit of trouble with logging in and out of my various rp accounts, this one included. that being said, rather than post an unfollow notice today for the accounts off hiatus who have yet to contact me, I’d like to make a quick post asking those members who are still invested in this group and would like it to continue on to like this post or message me.

activity has been incredibly low since the holidays and has yet to pick up; in fact, there’s been no activity on the dash in the past four days at all. I know people are busy and it’s hard to be active with so many people on hiatus or absent, and I am beginning to think that it would be better for this group to just go on hiatus rather than continue to drag on with nothing happening. I’d be happy to re-open this group at another time, when people have more time to commit to the group, and I’d rather do that than slowly post unfollow notices for everyone as activity dwindles.

if everyone who sees this could let me know what they think, I’d very much appreciate it as I make my decision over the next few days!

when will your next event be? do you recommend joining during or after?

with several people still on hiatus from the holidays and the current event still in it’s early stages, out next even likely won’t be for a few more weeks, so I’d definitely encourage you to apply before rather than waiting! there’s still a lot to do in this event, especially if you’re interested in a character like Rajan or Levesque, who will have plenty of work on their hands with the power fluctuations!

TASK 4: LETTERS FROM HOME

while light-speed delay means that communications from Earth have grown scarce and arrive with increasing delays -- meaning that messages the crew is receiving these days were recorded fairly soon after they left Earth, four years ago -- the crew does receive messages from their friends and family back home.

each crew member was asked to provide a list of family members and friends authorized to send them messages through mission control for the duration of the mission, and when mission control sends communication bundles to the ship, any messages from the crew’s family and friends are a part of those bundles. those messages anchor them to Earth -- sometimes, they’re a pleasant reminder of home, other times a bittersweet reminder of the things they’ve given up to be here.

write about your character receiving a message from the people they left behind back on Earth.

it’s been nice to see the dash already picking up again now that the holidays are over and to see a little more activity after what I know has been a very busy time for everyone!

of course, now that the holidays are over, I’m hoping that everyone who isn’t still on hiatus will be able to jump back in and we’ll be able to get the plot really rolling again in the next week or two -- to that end, I just wanted to let you all know that I’ll be doing an activity check on Friday and that I would really love for there to be nobody on it.

if we’ve got nearly everyone pretty active again by the end of the week, I’ll start working towards the next cycle update and more updates for the WARNING event so we can keep on trucking towards Proxima B and some alien contact!

alt fcs for levesque?

as mentioned in the rules and faceclaim guide, I don’t provide general alternate faceclaims for characters, since each skeleton comes with three suggestions. if you had someone else in mind, though I’d be happy to let you know if I think they’d work.

Levesque’s faceclaim must be over 30 and either First Nations or Alaskan Native, so if you really don’t like any of the options I’ve provided and are stuck finding someone else, I’d suggest looking for First Nations fc masterlists and seeing who you like!

how active is this rp?

we’re a little slow at the moment, with a few members on hiatus and traveling for the holidays, but I’m hoping that after this week we’ll be able to pick up the pace a little and get the plot rolling again! in general, I’d say we have a fairly relaxed pace, but the dash certainly isn’t dead--

is this plot from a movie or book????? what the hell i need to watch/read this i'm so pumped i just read the plot and i'm so !!!!! don't leave me hanging man

it’s not from anything specific, it’s an original plot that I wrote! I drew inspiration from several different sources (most notably the book The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell and Contact by Carl Sagan), but the particular plot is just for this rp – I’m so glad to hear you like it!

Anything you'd like to see on an application for Davies? Things you'd want the applicant to expand or focus on?

I’d love to see how their military background sets them apart from (most of) the rest of the crew, and how it impacts their view of the mission! what motivated them to come on the mission – sheer military discipline, or something else? and how does the fact that they’ve been in the military for the majority of their life impact their life on a non-military ship, on a non-military mission?
