could you link us to the stories you read last night? v interested
it’s a 7-part reddit thread about a park ranger’s experiences, and overall a very interesting read. however i recommend you all NOT do what i did. love yourselves and read it during the day, and take breaks. i know that sounds goofy but this stuff is paranoia fuel
I read all of these in one sitting at 10PM and I am Very Freaked Out because I had an experience with the fucking stairs this guy talks about a few years ago. I just messaged my friend who was with me to confirm the whole fuckin’ thing happened and sure enough she remembers that shit too.
Big, wrought iron, spiral staircase in the middle of the fucking woods behind my house. We’re lost at this point, neither of us have phones, and we just crossed a big fence (that also had NO REASON to be in the woods. It wasn’t a land divider, we owned all the land.) I remember I wanted to touch the staircase really badly. It was dilapidated, rusted, and on it’s side. I wanted to push it so it was standing up. I wanted to right it and I wanted to climb it. But I couldn’t get close to it. It felt fucking wrong to be anywhere near it. So I didn’t fuck with it. And when I decided I didn’t want to mess with it, we were going to keep going, I noticed this tiny shack a few yards off. It had power lines going to it but there was no reason for it to be there either. I could only see one window and it was fucking terrifying because I felt like someone was watching me, or someone was going to pop up in the one, pitch-black window.
My friend confirmed feeling the same thing.
Also, before you ask--the staircase couldn’t have belonged to the house. This house was nothing more than a shack, I’m telling you. Looked like it maybe had three rooms in it from the one side I saw. One floor.
One. Floor.
This spiral staircase was huge. Like, twenty or thirty feet, it was BIG. I don’t know why I ever thought I would’ve been able to pick it up and put it in a correct, staircase position, because the thing was solid fucking iron and gigantic. I was maybe 14 or 15 years old.
I’m really glad I didn’t touch it and we got the fuck outta dodge. We eventually found the road and followed it back to my house. But we also found a little alcove with bones. We brought my grandma back to the alcove because we were genuinely creeped the fuck out. She said they were just animal bones, raccoon or something (we were sure we saw a hand, but there were no skulls) but there weren’t any animal prints. Or human prints. There was nothing, just dirt and bones in a small alcove of the trees and bushes.
We never went back.
