âI mean it might make getting in and out of rides a little hard, could always just tear it off so itâs shorter.â Giving a playful wink he chuckled, knowing full well that she would probably oppose ruining such a lovely garment. Or was the garment only lovely because of the person who wore it? Smirking again as he tried to stay focused, but having her standing beside him, staring at him the way she was with a not so subtle blush spreading across her cheeks, he kept thinking about what else they could do today. The fact that he was winging this stressed him out, he didnât like to bullshit his way through things, meticulous planning was what he was good at.
His face went a mix between shock and surprise as she looked at him so deviously, he wasnât sure whether he was imagining it or not. No, he must have been, she was much more sensible than he was. Feeling the wall against his back all of a sudden, it was his turn to show the telltale sign of awkwardness as his cheeks had the faintest hint of pink creeping across them, growing a little darker as she took what she wanted, pleasantly surprising the hell out him. One hand immediately in her hair, pulling her deeper into the kiss, the other hand snaking around the back of her waist, pulling her up onto her toes. A small hiss parted his lips as she took a step back, he had to admit, she knew how to keep him interested, and it was infuriatingly frustrating. Standing up straighter against the wall, chest rising and falling slightly faster than normal he raised a brow at her before smirking.
âNo.â
What was he thinking! Heâd never said no before, so why did it feel so right to say it now. Something was definitely wrong with him, perhaps he should go to the doctors, he was starting to lose all sense. Walking around her he stood pressed against her back, hands running up the edges of her arms slowly. His head nudged the side of hers, whispering in her ear. âTrust me, I want to. But I am going to do this right.â He didnât want any part of this to feel like another night, another girl. Not to mention he was a little worried (not that he would admit it), that she would regret being with him. He was a mess of contradictory thoughts right now.
Opening her eyes to Haydenâs suggestion, surely he had to know better than that. She knew she wasnât the most fashionable girl around The Pier, but she certainly wasnât bold or stupid enough - whichever one could call it - to just rip a dress like that to ride anything. Besides, that was one of the only dresses she had borught with her when she had left home, and it reminded her of her family, no matter what had gone down between them. However, she didnât have time to answer; next thing she knew, he was responding to her kiss, his face flustered and the subtlest of pinks appearing on his cheeks. It was nice to see him out of his comfort zone at least for once, that way she knew she had taken him by surprise.
He was so into the kiss as well as she was, that when she pushed him away she liked the hiss coming from his lips, but what happened jext caught her completely by surprise. Brow raised, no doubt taken by surprise as well by her request, only one word came out of his mouth. âNo.â No? What the hell? Had she heard correctly? She opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out of her mouth, leaving her there, staring at him, dumbfounded. She was talking to Hayden Dark, wasnât she? Her mind was racing with a million thoughts, repeating what had happened not one hour before. Had she done something wrong? Did he not want her?
She was completely aware her eyes - or rather her face was showing exactly how she felt. It felt as if her stomach had a hole in it and something had dropped inside and there was a knot in her throat, she felt like crying. âNo?â She muttered, more a whisper than anything audible. She wasnât sure if he had heard, but then he was talking again, and she felt like she could breathe again. He wanted to do things right. Not sure how, or what he meant by that, she just nodded, moving closer to him and wrapping his arms around his waist. Leaning her head against his chest, she smiled, even though he couldnât see her. âAlright, Hayden. Should we get showered - separately, of course - and changed to head out, then?â
