🍲intention: you choose ingredients for a reason - to make a specific idea become reality. salt isn't just seasoning - it's grounding. honey isn't just sweet - it's a charm for attraction or harmony. even a small thoughts, like "may this soup soothes the throat" - the act moves from cooking into spellwork.
🧄sensory engagement: when you smell garlic as it browns or feel dough come alive under your palms, you're aligned body and food. that awareness turns physical motion into ritual.
🔪when you enter a rhythm/flow: you slip into that state where time stretches - chopping, stirring, etc - it's like a trance. your nervous system calms, and your energy imprints on the food. that's what we call soul food - it's a slow and steady magic.
🍴when food is shared: eating is one of the oldest communal rituals. when you feed others - or even just yourself - thoughtfully, you're performing practical alchemy: transforming intention into something tangible and edible.
🥣gratitude: magic is sealed when you recognize completion. the first bite, the toast, and the satisfied exhale after a meal. it's an energy loop that goes through the food back through you.

Kitchen Witchery: Chocolate Cherry Dip 🍒🍫
I don't have the biggest sweet tooth, but this just does it for me. It's sweet, it's light, and absolutely delicious. A great little sweet treat, or something you could vamp into dessert.
On the witchy side of things, chocolate and cherry shine here. Both are often used in love magic, which makes this an excellent companion to any love, romance, and passion workings you may be planning.
Ingredients
8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temp
1/4 cup butter, softened to room temp
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp almond extract
6 tbsp finely chopped maraschino cherries
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Directions
Combine cream cheese and butter in a mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer, beat until smooth and creamy.
Beat in powdered sugar and almond extract until well blended
Stir in diced cherries and chocolate chips.
Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, or fresh fruit. (Or just spoon it into your mouth. No judgement)
Autumn Pie Summoning Ritual : Sept 1-7
It's back! (actually I've kept up doing this even while not on here, but anyways)
Let's summon Autumn with Pie!
The idea is, we get a bunch of folks baking pies with the intention of bringing on the cooler weather. Any pie will do, at any level of skill! Sweet or savoury, entirely from scratch or using various purchased bits. There is no judgment, only fun, group magic, and delicious food.
As always I'd like to share my favourite pie crust recipe that I use every single time I make a pie, any pie. Veg, fruit, meat, whatever... it works.
As shown in the picture above I have oft used a cast iron frying pan for pies. Gives a great crust, no soggy bottoms here! Recently I was gifted some Emile Henry pie plates, mini and reg size, and they work wonderfully as well. So this recipe truly works with what you got.
If folks want to share their fav pie recipes I've turned submissions on, and you can also send in thru asks.
I'll be baking my pie feast on Sept 6th, but we've spread the ritual out over a week to accommodate as many people as possible!
Harvest Stuffed Squash
Sharing in case anyone needs vegetarian recipes for upcoming holiday meals. This is my go-to meatless main dish for fall holidays! The recipe is my own, adapted from the "Comprehensively Stuffed Squash" from The Moosewood Cookbook.
Ingredients:
2 butternut squashes
1 cup chopped onion
3 cloves minced/crushed garlic
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 tsp sage
1 tsp thyme
4 TBSP butter (substitute olive oil for a vegan version)
2 TBSP dry white wine (omit if you can't cook with alcohol)
2 cups lightly toasted bread, coarsley crumbled (I like sourdough)
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts (to get small pieces, you can run them through a food processor for a few seconds)
1/2 cup grated gouda cheese (I like to use smoked gouda if I can find it!) (substitute vegan cheese for a vegan version, or omit and double the walnuts)
Salt and pepper to taste
To cook:
Split each squash lengthwise down the middle. Remove the seeds.
Bake the squash, face down, for 30 minutes at 350 degrees or until tender.
On the stove over medium heat, sauté the onions in butter until soft.
Add the garlic and celery and sauté several minutes, until the celery is also soft.
Add the white wine and simmer until the smell of alcohol cooks off. (If not using wine, skip this step.)
Combine the cooked veggie mixture with the crumbled bread and grated cheese.
Stuff the squash cavities with the filling.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
