Newt’s limp!! It’s just a quirky thing that you can sometimes spot in the background of the movies. It has zero tangible effect on Newt’s character.

There’s that deleted scene of Newt explaining his suicide attempt, and that’s the closest connection we get. But I want to know how it affects his decisions. How does he handle running through the Scorch with his able-bodied peers? Is there chronic pain? Does he have different needs? Is he angry at his past self or has he accepted it?

I think his disability doesn’t affect the plot becuse they prioritized a spectacle—a show of action/adventure that can’t be “slowed down.” This killed so much potential for character development, not just for Newt, but the whole cast.

Ok I know it’s his character, but I must disagree anyways. Thomas would NOT escape the island “at your expense.” He spends the entire tmr series trying to save his friends but he fails because he is literally living in an apocalypse. I’d love to see more sympathy for Thomas because that boy tried so hard.
