Variety: But then there’s the blowjob scene. That was comedy.
That was improv.
Variety: What?
Hudson: "Yeah, to a degree. Connor and I were kind of goofing off in the makeup trailer, which was a cottage that was a two-minute drive away from that cottage, getting ready. I was preparing my monologue the whole morning. I’m prepping it, working it. Then Connor, being the great scene partner he is, he was like, “I’ll be here doing this.” Then he did something and we were hitting each other, goofing off. Then he’s hitting me, hitting me and he did this slap. I was filming myself on my phone doing this. I was like, “Do that again.” I couldn’t hold in my laughter because it was so brilliant. It’s so funny, and it makes sense for where they’re at in the story. I remember showing that to the intimacy coordinator. She was cackling. She’s like, “You have to do that.” Then Jacob was like, “Go for it. Go crazy.” The first take was the first time I broke broke because Connor is taking all the liberties. I am shoving him. I’m slapping him back. I’m putting the phone away to get in the gasps and moans. I’m so happy with how that scene turned out."

"hollander" (this doesn't have to change, we can go back, we can just be hollander and rozanov and ignore the strings, we can pretend it's nothing more and never talk about it and I'll never say shane again, I'll never ask for more if this is all i can get) "hollander" (there's nothing I can say to keep this from crumbling but i'm begging you)
these two are how we're being rewarded for surviving 2025
At least they know we are great at kissing. It was a pretty top-tier kiss. [The Long Game, chapter 32]
Okay okay so what if. What if you were a hyper-intelligent transport that does research on stars (and also super-secret anti-corporate espionage/action) and you care about your crew SO much. And then you meet a rogue SecUnit and it seems cool and you become friends and you help each other and you speedrun a deep friendship starting with media and threats. And then you don't see it for a while but that's okay. And the whole time you're apart it has a direct comm to you inside it next to its ribs. Which neither of you use but it's there.
And then you get attacked and your crew gets kidnapped and you only have time to save a copy of yourself and give the people attacking you a direction. So you direct the attackers towards your friend using the direct comm that it's been keeping in its chest because if anyone can fight them off and save you its the one.
And it does come and it does kill them and it finds your backup hidden in a file that you've password-protected specifically for it. With its secret name that only you call it and that the other people who love and care about it can't even pronounce. Can't even see. And it saves you while its literally falling apart because of course it does.
And then its saved you but its angry because you kidnapped it. And really its angry because in trying to save your humans you put its humans in danger. But you work so well together and you have to save your crew and you start talking to each other again (because it spent an hour ignoring you because now that you're both out of immediate danger it really is angry (but not as angry as it was when it thought you'd been killed)).
And while all this is happening the non-romantic, non-sexual relationship you two have is unquestionably taking the space where a romantic subplot would be in the novel you two are in. Dramatic saving, emotional breakdowns, fights, slow reconciliation and everything.
AND THEN you two HAVE A CHILD. And then it (your friend SecUnit not your child) gets kidnapped but like for real this time (not by you) and you are about 5 seconds from bombing the colony that you came here originally to try to save to get it back before somebody comes up with a better plan. You've already done all the hardware updates to be able to bomb the colony until they give it back you were so so close to doing it. And then you do save it!
And THEN its favorite human comes and meets you and that does cause you to go into a panic cleaning of everything. And then you invite it to come live with you and meet your entire family properly (not just in the process of saving them which. It did do for you.)
And also the entire time since it stopped ignoring you and started working with you on getting your crew back there's been a teenager narrating your relationship like it was a romantic one but ever saying or really even implying that thats what's actually going on. Anytime she sees you two interacting.
…something had knocked it out of the air, and it was splayed and flattened to the deck like something had stepped on it.
I wanted to pick it up and have an emotion over it like a stupid human.

In my mind palace/alternate history to the alternate history, Robin goes home with Ramy.
He travels with him all the way to India just to meet his family, to enjoy their hospitality, and to explore Ramy's home through his eyes. It is joy, because they never imagined that this luxury would be afforded them. Freedom. Solitude together.
Escape from Oxford doesn't exactly change their relationship, but it somehow magnifies it. For all that they know about each other, there are parts they can never quite see clearly, living in a city where Ramy is always performing, and Robin is always hiding.
Mischief, stubbornness, native tongues, old songs, memories, irreverence, childhood passions they laugh to remember, it all bubbles to the surface.
It is the first time Robin understands the word home in a very long time. The lightning and thunder between them rumbles. It transforms. It explodes into fireworks that Robin can hold in his hands, for just a moment.
In a quiet moment under a banyan tree, Robin scoots close to Ramy and says softly, without looking at him, "If I ever lost you, I don't think I could go on".
Ramy says gently, fondly, "There's no need to be morose, Birdie, we are young and free, which means that we are immortal," and he slings his arm around Robin's shoulders.
Robin wiggles closer, against his warmth, and insists that he means it. He can't say what he means, but inside he knows that he has lost so much, he truly thinks that his soul is too damaged, he wouldn't be able to weather it. Ramy is the embodiment of love, the very definition. He is home. He doesn't say it, though. He sits tongue tied. Ramy was always the brave one, not him.
Ramy looks at him quizzically for a moment. Then he promises with a gallant grin that even if he ever dies, he won't leave. He will haunt Robin in his dreams. They laugh, and somehow Robin is reassured. And then after a moment of peaceful silence, Ramy leans over and kisses him.
Brave Ramy.
Beautiful Ramy.
It is Robin's first kiss. Ramy's too. It doesn't matter that it is wobbly and awkward. It is soft and warm and it is love.
