My problem with DCEU’s Birds Of Prey

I was excited that we are gonna see Black Canary, Huntress and Montoya as the Question and possibly Barbara as Oracle and Cassandra Cain’s live action debut. But then I read the rumored synopsis.

“After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.”

Okay if this rumor is true. I honestly have no interest in this movie.

Helping Gotham to Season 5:

Gotham’s time for renewal announcements is due sometime in May. There have been mixed reportings of whether Gotham will get a fifth season or not from the cast and crew, so no definite conclusion can be drawn from those sources.

It may all come down to ratings for the final episodes of this season.

You can also make your voice heard, using Twitter. Twitter is often used to track interest in a show, especially while said show is airing. It’s the best platform for getting the message across as it’s the easiest to track for television shows by use of hashtags.

It’s almost Christmas!

I just had like a super cute dream about the joker and Harley! It was in jokers perspective and they had joined a team a villains to fight the justice league or something. But anyways, Joker was pretty much second in command of this group if not already the leader, which left Harley feeling like seriously wasn’t an equal to him cause he was always away from her and coming up with plans with out her. And some of the guys in the group would hit on her so after a while she just indulged in the praise and teased the guys to feel like she was important. Meanwhile joker starts noticing that Harley isn’t there distracting him as usual so he goes to check on her only to see her flirting around. Surprisingly he doesn’t blow up he just asks her what the hell she thinks she’s doing. I forgot her response bit I think it was something like “waiting till I’m important to you again” IDK I don’t think it was that sappy but anyways the rest of the time he’s in charge he keeps glancing over at her only to get the cold shoulder. So he just keeps doing cute little gestures for her, like he got a Popsicle but it was the ones you can split so as he passed her he broke it off and gave her the other half and winked without hesitation! Goddammit it was so cute

Harley Quinn Animated Series...

So Harley is going to be getting her own animated series and at first it thought this was the best news ever and then I looked into it. The series will be one where she is no longer with the Joker and before people get pissy at me for wanting her to be with the Joker in the series i want ya’ll to take a moment to think. This characters charm came from her love for the joker no from her complete obsession with the Joker, taking that away makes her someone else entirely! She can’t still be Harley Quinn and be over the Joker at the same time that just doesn’t make any sense, if you’re getting over a past relationship usually you want nothing to do with what the other person gave you and Joker gave her a purpose and a name. So yeah, I’m kinda pissed that they’re tossing away the most interesting part of the character because they want to be politically correct. And even so, not every Joker and Harley relationship has to be determined as only and forever and always abusive, if you think that things only happen one way in all the stories then you don’t know anything about comics. Anyway’s back to the series, her not being with Joker is probably my biggest qualm, another concern of mine is who will be writing in the series. As far as I know there hast been anyone confirmed, we just know that the show is going to happen but the only thing that may ease my mind about this show is if they get Paul Dini to write for it. He knows how to write Harley because he made her. Paul Dini did a majority of the writing for her character in the Batman Animated series and I really believe only his writing will make this show work. Considering that Poison Ivy will be in the show as well I feel them not attaining his help would be a huge loss for them because he even wrote a Harley and Ivy duo comic and hell it was amazing! It was believable, there was no solid “oh I’m never going back to the joker” or anything. She still loved him but at the same time wanted to continue to make a name for herself without him. And sometimes we would get moments with the Joker and he didn’t do anything to hurt her, he was just himself and she was just herself and together they would always steal the show because you could tell that the characters found enjoyment in the others company and played off each other flawlessly. Not everything has to be so clean cut and perfect for the public, this character is a villain, she is already far from perfect but DC has been trying to make her into someone who is perfect for the media to gobble up and it makes the character contradict herself time and time again. I want this series to be good but personally I think DC needs to put some more effort in keeping this character true to her nature rather than just using her as a marketing object in order for it to be successful.
