If moving house has taught me anything - it’s that moving is awful and no one should ever subject themselves to it willingly. With that in mind, I’ve been especially lax with my drafts recently because - I AM MOVING BLOGS!! And have been setting that up instead.

Y’all can catch me over here on my brand new multi-muse. It’s got all my muses from here and various other fandoms. I am gonna probably take a break until the weekend and then start following people and looking at which threads will get moved over and what will be dropped. HOPEFULLY, I’ll get the bulk of this sorted before I go on holiday on the 9th so I can spend my holiday writing up replies. If we have a thread and I do not get to you by the end of this month, please come to poke me.

“Leave me alone!” Poppy screamed as she swung her purse, heavy with books and recent purchases, against the bathroom mirror, trying to shatter it. Her heart was pounding as she hit it again and again and again. For days she had felt eyes follow her from behind the mirrors in public bathrooms and it had so terrified her she couldn’t go into them. But her terror had reached a critical point and had made her act out, and she had no plans on stopping until the mirror was in pieces and she could destroy the camera that had been surveilling her.

Eric did not make a habit of entering bathrooms traditionally marked for women. It had happened on occasion, and almost always by accident. And - even after hearing a woman yelling - he still paused a moment longer. His mind jumped immediately to the idea of an attack - but surely - someone already in there might intervene? Or another woman, passing by? It would appear not... Could he walk on, pretend he couldn’t hear what was happening..? What if someone - this woman - died..?  He pushed the door open, slowly, with a glance backwards - what if he got in there and someone thought he was the reason for the commotion? No one was coming, so he pressed forwards, to find Poppy... Trying to murder her reflection. “Uh... Ma’am? Are you..? Okay?”

—- She’d pay him back, perhaps, if the occasion allowed so. Though for the time being her unstained hand would extend ( the hem of her shirt falling down ) & gratefully take the flask. Pain wasn’t so much of a hindrance than an inconvenience; she felt it, surely, every last bit of it. But whether alcohol was necessary to keep her upright was left up for debate. A sip being poured into her mouth without lips touching the flask’s neck before handing it back over again, her arm would remain raised, the clothed wrist used to wipe a drop from the corners of her lips. “ Thanks. “ Her voice remained pressed, unsurprisingly so, but it took her not very much longer to finish her time-consuming work & release an elongated sigh, arms dropping in fatigue. “ So – “ A pause. Eyes for once focused on his facial expression; hers surely not any more amicable than before. “ A doc who’s by chance got a flask hiding away. Stressed much? “

He took his flask back, taking a swift draught from it himself before stowing it back in his pocket. “Welcome.” He responded, off hand, his good deed for the day done, he supposed. He took a step back from her, ready to carry on wending his way home, pausing as she spoke again. “Well, it’s not easy-” He could admit that. “But, I don’t think I’m stressed. Can’t a man have fun off the clock without it being incriminating?”

—- She had paid attention ( at least somewhat & in the beginning ); though decided in the middle of it that his speech was anything but interesting – cue the agitated statement. That he was right ( of course ) easily brushed aside & hands would continue to pick at glass, one hand keeping the hem of her shirt up, even if not enough to reveal much of her skin. “ Do I look unsure? “ The question both rhetorical & brash. The tight jaw would clench even further when one splinter was acknowledged as quite deep upon removal, the pain-wretched expression a sight rarely seen. But had he looked a little closer at the blood-stained skin, he would have noticed that the tiniest of wounds – barely scratches as such – were quick to heal. “ Something to drink then? “ ( She could smell it; doubtful that any ex-addict prone to alcohol wouldn’t. )

He sighed, head listing to the side - she didn’t look unsure, even if he was. But - he was smart enough to pick up the rhetorical nature of the question, and so instead of answering he contented himself with shoving his hands into his pockets and watching her as she continued to pull out shards of glass - looking at her face though, instead of the rapidly healing wounds. At her next request, he paused, fingers stroking over the flask in his pockets. He could refuse, and she might never know - and it would be better for the bleeding. But, a little something to take the edge off the pain? That’d certainly be an act of mercy, right? He pulled the hip flash out, and held it out to her, silently.

It’s quite luck that he hasn’t seen her pushed out the window & get back up after almost an hour of being dead. The last few miles she’s walked were accompanied by the absent-minded ridding of painful fragments. That she may have misinterpreted a perhaps well-meant concern is left an option unrecognised. “ I’m fine. Look; I walk, I talk. It’s nothing to be worried about. So if you’d please just answer the question & tell me if you’ve got a cigarette? “

He has no desperate urge to help her dig shards of glass from the flesh of her hands - given that they are not at a hospital (a fact he has pointed out), and he doesn’t have the proper tools (something else he may have mentioned) nor any way to make it sterile (which he has stated) - and, of course, the fact that he has been drinking (about the only thing he kept to himself). Hence her telling him to quit the lecture, he supposes. However - she really should seek medical attention. But given that there is little he can do to make her, he sighs and shakes his head. “I’m afraid not.” It did awful things to you, smoking. So did drinking - but those were easier to ignore, apparently. “Are you sure-?”

What is your personality like? Are you well liked? I certainly hope so. I’m fun, charming, and fairly easy going. I’m hardy, reliable, strong. I can take care of myself and others - a good quality in a doctor. I’ve got a level head and steady hands. I like to work hard and play harder. I can be serious, when needed. I like to think I consider all my options before acting. I guess I can rub some people up the wrong way, but who can’t?

What do you like outside of work? Any hobbies? I like to party, I like to read, I like to spend time with ladies. I’ve got limited free time, so I’m going to spend it having fun. Yeah, I like a drink, but it’s hardly a problem…

How is your family life? Are you married? Are your parents alive? Do you have a relationship with your family? I have a huge family. It’s a bit ridiculous, like, what? My parents never heard of television? I’ve got six brothers, and my mom and dad are still alive and going strong.  My dad treated my mom good, and was always too busy to step out on her, and my mom was always too busy running after seven little boys to be depressed or bored. We rub along as best we can. I’m not married - not found the right girl. 

Do you like what you do? Do you search for anything outside of your profession? Yeah, I do. Dad was a doctor, which is what got me (and three of my brothers) into it, I suppose. I’m incredibly happy with my life.
