Head 2 Head 3/?
episode 6 aka the "things are bubbling under the surface for EVERYBODY" episode
has unexplained visions of his future and/or parallel universes which feature his boyfriend dying over and over again and sometimes cause him excessive bleeding and near fatal sleepwalking. but god forbid his horny spirit die down.
New Siwaj your portrayal of friendship has once again gotten my ass
Phew this episode
Let's start with how Farm invented the look of love. Van must have some sort of super power because if Farm looked at me like this I'd be a puddle. Secondly the obvious MVP of this episode is Mai. He was a good friend to Farm by standing up for him and a good friend to Van by being honest with him.
Now about Van 😭it's literally impossible to hate him. This was him after realising he might actually lose Farm. He was like I can't eat, I can't work, I can't sleep and alcohol tastes like piss. Is this what it means to lose a friend? I don't love him but I don't want to lose him to anyone else. There's nothing to smile about now that my sunshine is gone but nah I'm not in love with him. I was so happy the entire time he was miserable. And Farm smoking directly in his face? Absolute Cinema lol. Also I think this was the most I've liked Jerome in an episode. I get why he's the one closest to Farm in the friend group now
I love that they made Farm at the yearner factory for me. Ofc he was willing to step away from the friend group so that Van would have someone. He was so mad and heartbroken but he never stopped caring 🥺🥺I already said on twt but I was really hoping they'd talk through the door so I could have my crying on both sides of the door moment but this was cute too. Van is gonna wake up with the stiffest neck in the world lmao. The friend group calling Van out but not casting him out was really nice. I was worried about the dynamics after everything. Angry Farm is so hot. Actually Surf is just so distractingly hot it's a problem.
Anyway. What can I say? I love these two. They were made for each other. When Van finally untangles his feelings he really needs to make it up to Farm. When he said "Farm must really hate me." I was so sad. For someone with no family and very few people who understand him like Farm does I felt the weight of his loneliness. He was just a scared kid to me in that moment 😭I know Farm could never really hate Van. He literally couldn't even delete their pictures or let go if his socks. Unfortunately Van made him lose faith in love when he gave himself to it so wholeheartedly. So as much as I turn into a squealing mess every time these two so much as maintain eye contact I need Van to lock in and make that boy believe in love again. Lately I've been enjoying the loving someone who is bad for you currently but sticking it through until they stop being stupid and realise they love you trope because you just can't bring yourself to leave them alone (in fiction) so I really don't hate their storyline.
I can't believe I'm back to a whole week without them. I'm gonna die of yearning.
The last time I was this obsessed with the fuckedupness of a relationship was SandRay. I keep thinking wow Van could have left Farm alone. But then I'm like I cannot look away from this train wreck of a relationship. Why did Van ask Farm to date him if he knew he wasn't ready? Easy. So Farm wouldn't belong to anyone else. But he knew Farm had feelings for him, it's not like he was going anywhere... Well at least now I know why he made that face when Farm hugged him after he asked him out 😂 Van is so fascinating to me. I just want to live in his brain for a week. Every time Farm is hurting I feel like I'm also hurting. When Van denied their relationship in front of Mai I almost lost my mind. I was so relieved he actually held his ground this week and didn't accept Van's empty apologies. I don't even know what to anticipate going forward but I'm so curious to see. Actually no I'm scared of seeing Farm get hurt by the person he cares for the most in the entire world. When I saw the moment he fell in love with Van from last week's preview I almost started weeping. It's such a sweet and pure moment like he literally never even stood a chance 😭Van's arm pulled him in and he was gone forever my poor baby Farm 😭😭😭
These two are a nightmare relationship and yet I am absolutely fascinated by them and driven to see how the show thinks this should work.
I know it can be interpreted as Farm telling Van he may not be welcomed in his family because he is gay, but I also think there could be another possibility.
Maybe things are not going so great between his parents too and he saw the consequences of a bad relationship where people get hurt and stay together.
He probably doesn't want to repeat the same mistake... Yet, he fell in love with Van who isn't exactly the man who had healthy relationships before.
The problem is that they are both having insecurities, bad coping mechanisms and they lack real open conversations about what they want in a relationship, especially in their relationship. For now, they only have feelings and they need to build the trust between them, but also themselves.
I know it's not starting well for them and I truly love that the series is showing this imperfect relationship. I only for the rest of the story to give them enough time to grow and make the right choices for themselves so they can have a healthy relationship.
Head 2 Head 9/?
BESTIEISM.
The one thing that bothered me enough to complain about with h2h last week is how repetitive the script is. From episode 6 we could tell that Farm knew that Van knew he liked him. So why waste their 3 seconds of screentime by having Farm asked "wait you knew I liked you this whole time?" like what was that about. Then what even was the point of "But you don't tell me everything" with all that prolonged eye contact in the previous episode? Also there is literally no one else J could be dreaming of from the way he's been acting with Jinn so again, why waste precious minutes having it be some big reveal. I know Farm and he's not stupid. He would have figured that out.
Hwang Da Seul and the fragility of relationships
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about why Hwang Daseul's work manages to hit the right spot for me, and the best I could come up with is that her stance on maintaining relationships really resonates with me—there is nothing that tethers you to another person; be it family (filial piety can be found lying in a ditch somewhere), friends, or romantic partners. It's all about the choices you make—love is a verb and not a noun. I always come back to this quote from To My Star 2:
In this world, there is no perfect man nor the perfect form of love. It's just a matter of understanding, and adapting to each other through love. It's about learning to speak one's mind rather than put one's pride ahead.
JiWoo was referring to romantic love here, but I think it applies to all the relationships she decides to portray in her stories.
It's also because of how she allows her characters to be human, and forgiveness is always on the table for people who are willing to change. It's never too late to change course in life and reach out to other people. You don't have to be anything extraordinary to be deserving of love. How radical!!
My geniune feelings towards her body of work:
I'm truly grateful to have come across her work and look forward to whatever new ways she'll concoct to break my heart into a million pieces only to put it back together lovingly with care.
Farm forgave Van too easily😭 this episode felt like getting everything I've ever dreamed of but the nightmare version. They kissed(the hands during that first scene 🥺💓💓💓)but then Van made that face and I was like oh no. I can't get over the fact that their first time was Van's apology for almost cheating someone hold me
After viewing dozens of GMMTV 2026 bingo boards, I’ve come to the conclusion that the two things we can all agree on are (1) that Aou and Boom absolutely deserve their own show and it had better be a spicy one, and (2) if they separate Papang and Podd without giving us a full series from them we will riot.
It’s good to see us all united on what matters 🤣🥰
