Welp...

It appears Yahoo crapped the bed because I can no longer access the mail account tied to my original Tom B-292 blog. It wont even let me try and guess the password to change it, so now it’s stuck there in limbo forever disconnected.

In a fit of anger, I went and deleted all the other blogs I did still have access to that weren’t that one or this one.

But i kept my Fred-104 just in case... I’ll do damage control tomorrow when I have more time. Might have to necro-rez a few things...

@darkmeditation so I answered your ask, albeit 145 days late... and then Tumblr ate it. Glad to see they still haven't fixed all the fun bugs in half a year. :D Hope you and the house are doing well. I've moved back and gotten a new job that pays much better than the previous, and life has improved all around. But weekend watch at work is SUPER BORING. I'm here for 12 mind-numbing hours just making sure nothing explodes or burns down...

She nodded absentmindedly as she walked. “ It comes from the Latin imperialis, which came from imperium” meaning command, authority, or empire. “ Perhaps it seemed odd that she would be so familiar with Latin, but she’d taken a few years of it as supplemental course, so as to have easier comprehension and memory of medical terms. It had worked out for her in the long run, but sometimes…well, she came across a bit nerdy. She wasn’t too happy about that, and found herself wincing at the impression she must have just made.

Glad she was quick up stairs, she pulled out her keys and began to unlock her door. ” Well, this is Park Row and– “

” Clara? Is that you? “

Oh no. Please no. Not now—

” It is! Dearie, I’ve been meaning to ask you, would you mind taking a look at my back again? It’s been so sore lately, and Johnny would, you know, but he’s so busy these days– “

“ Mrs. Spencer, I’m sorry, but– “

The old woman turned, seemingly noticing Gabriel for the first time–and a grin spread across her face. ” Oh, thank heavens, I was beginning to worry you were one of those lesbians, you know. You kids have fun, and use condoms! “

Her door slammed shut, leaving a pinkened Clara staring with wide eyes before turning to her own door, not saying a word, instead hurrying inside.

Gabriel chuckled as he finally made it to the third floor landing and watched ‘Ms Spencer’s’ door close. A smirk adorned his face. 

“Old people are fun.”

Gabriel followed Clara into the apartment, still smiling.

“She seems nice.” He joked as he ducked the doorframe.

One specific phrase in there had caught her attention–the Imperium City? Immediately, she was kicking herself for it, but she couldn’t help the way her curiosity got ahead of her. The medical professional in her, she supposed–she’d always had a particularly morbid sense of curiosity, and it had gotten her into more trouble than she could count over the years.

It had also saved her many times, but that was neither here or there.

“ Imperium City? I’ve never heard New York called that before. It sounds like you’re a long way from home, then. Oh! Here we are. Come on, I’m on the third floor.”

Clara stepped into the building, shouldering her purse a little better as she began the trek up the stairs, the wood beneath her creaking.

They don’t call New York Imperium City? Shit, must be further back than I thought. It’s been Imperium ever since WWVI. 

“It’s a local thing. New York’s seen as the leading city, so some rich asshat started calling it that for some kind of marketing thing. It kinda caught on. I think it’s Latin.”

Gabriel started to follow up the steps behind Clara, the wooden stair straining loudly under his weight. He could feel the small platforms give way slightly under his boot, so he quickly shifted his steps wider toward the edges near the central support and the wall. The sound lessened, but the stairs continued to creak.

Where am I, the middle ages? How is basic construction this flimsy.

He rubbed his forehead, the caked blood cracking and flaking off. “So muggings like that happen often round here?”
