Blind Date
Hoseok x Reader
The sound of the rain coming from outside only seemed to get louder, followed by thunder roaring in the distance. Hoseok let out a sigh. His shift at the convenience store had just ended, and it was time for him to close it up for the night. Normally he would be excited to get off work so that he could go home and do anything he wanted for the rest of the night, but he dreaded getting out into the storm to walk all the way home considering his house was a good twenty minute walk from his work.
The male pulled his keys out of his pockets, spinning them around his index finger for a moment, deciding to just suck it up and hurry home after locking up. Hoseok began to walk towards the back of the store, taking a look down every isle to check that no one was still in there, and that nothing was knocked off any of the shelves.
All of a sudden, the front entrance to the store opened, making the bell go off. Hoseok rolled his eyes in annoyance, moving towards the end of the isle he was currently on to tell the random customer to get out.
âHey buddy, canât you read? Itâs closing time. Come back tomo-â He paused, his eyes widening in shock. Standing In front of him was one of the most stunning girls he had ever laid eyes on. She was dressed fancy, as if she was about to go to a party or something. However, her makeup was smeared, and her hair was wet. It looked like she had been crying before coming into the store.
âIâm so sorry. I know you guys are closed..but I saw the lights on and the door was unlocked, so I figured this was my only hope..I have somewhere I need to be in the next few minutes and I canât go looking like I just crawled out of the garbage dump. I promise Iâll pay extra if you can just let me buy some makeup wipes and use a mirror. Please?â The girl asked, seeming desperate. Hoseok took a deep breath, shyly glancing away from them so it wasnât obvious he was staring.
âUhm..yeah. Go ahead. Donât worry about paying anything, itâs on me this time. The makeup wipes should be at the front.â He finally spoke, clearing his throat before turning around to check the other isles. After a few moments, the girl had helped herself to the makeup wipes and mirror at the front of the store. She hummed softly while fixing her hair, pulling it back into a low ponytail to hide how wet it had gotten from the rain. Hoseok closed his eyes, leaning up against one of the walls once he finally made it to the back of the store. Even her humming was pretty. Was he seriously thinking this way about a total stranger? Heâs never going to see her again in his life, so why would he be acting like sheâs a high-school crush? He felt a bit pathetic, but he knew it wouldnât be long before she left.
The girl turned around to thank him, but noticed that he wasnât anywhere around the front. Her shoulders dropped, frowning as she glanced down at her phone to look at the time. âI donât have much time, so I wonât run around the whole store. Thank you so much for letting me come in here!! Iâll come pay you back sometime, I promise! Youâre a real one!â She called out, before Hoseok could hear the sound of footsteps hurrying out of the store. The bell rang once more, followed by the door slamming shut. He let out a breath that he didnât even realize he was holding.
âWhat the hell is wrong with you?â He muttered to himself, slowly walking back towards the front of the store. He looked outside the window, watching as it rained even harder than before. âThatâs no good. Maybe Iâll stop somewhere nearby to get something for dinner..that way I can wait in there until the rain clears up..â

Y/N POV:
I fixed my dress for what felt like the hundredth time. The rain made it so the fabric was practically sticking to my body. It felt more like a bathing suit than a dress at this point.
A sigh escaped my lips, kicking my feet under the table as I continued to wait for my date to finally arrive. After having a messy breakup a few months ago, my friends thought it was time I moved on. So, of course they figured there was no better way than to set me up on a blind date. The only part that sucks is that It seemed like I was being stood up. Maybe Iâm not ready after all. Maybe this would be a good time to just order some ice cream to go, and go back home to binge watch Netflix until sunrise. Itâs not too late..
I brought my hand up to rest my cheek on, allowing my elbow to rest on the table. I had never felt so embarrassed. Was I seriously ditched? Could they not have said anything to me at all first?
The sound of the front entrance opening made me shoot my head back up, bringing my elbow down so that I could get a closer look at who was coming in. I swore to myself that if it wasnât my date, I was packing up and just going home. Rain or not, I wasnât about to embarrass myself here any further.
My eyes widened in shock, blinking a few times to make sure I wasnât hallucinating. Was that the guy who let me in his store after closing? No way..was he..was he my blind date?
He didnât seem to see me, however. He just kept walking to another table, sitting down and grabbing his phone out of his pocket. I studied him for a moment, a small smile making its way onto my features. Now that Iâm getting a better look at him, he was pretty cute actually.
I wasted no time standing up from my seat, quickly moving over to where the male was seated. There was no doubt in my mind that this had to be him. He was the only guy in the place who was alone.
âHiya!â I started, pulling a chair out in front of him so that I could seat myself. âYou must have missed me when you walked in. Iâm Y/N! Youâre here for the blind date, right?â I asked hopefully, shooting him a large, toothy grin. The man blinked up at me, staring a hole into my face. He opened his mouth to speak, before closing it again. He seemed like a scared puppy or something.
âOh my god..youâre not, are you? God dammit..Iâm so sorry!â I half shouted, careful not to cause a scene. âListen, I swear I didnât mean to seem weird or anything..itâs just that you were all alone so I figured mayb-â
âI am.â He said quickly, cutting me off. âHere for the blind date, I mean. Sorry, I guess I must have spaced out for a second there. Maybe itâs the fact I got lost in your dazzling eyes~â he joked, making me chuckle slightly.
âYouâre a real charmer, I see. So thatâs why you were late!! You were being held back by me. It makes sense now! Sorry, I was a little worried I was stood up or something.â I said, shifting in my seat to get comfortable. I was relieved that out of everyone I could have been paired up with, I was paired with someone I already sort of broke the ice with. How did my friends even know this guy, though? Iâve never seen him around..not even in pictures.
âAh, Yeah. My bad I guess, I didnât realize you would be my date, or I would have walked you here. I will say though, you did make quite the impression on me already.â He smiled, crossing his arms as he leaned back into his seat. He seemed a bit nervous, but he definitely seemed to be trying to play it cool.
âMm, is that so? Haha, youâre a true gentleman then. But, I told you my name already..can I know yours?â I asked, putting both my elbows on the table, and placing my head in my hands as I looked up at the man. He swallowed, before making an attempt to clear his throat once more.
âOh..my name? Itâs Hoseok. Did your friends not tell you my name before hand?â He questioned, tilting his head to the side.
âTechnically yes, but I honestly didnât pay much attention to any of the details about you. No offense, but I wanted to hear it all from you instead of hearing it through them.â I stated, before continuing. âSo, with that being said, tell me more about yourself, cutie~â
âCalling me cutie on the first date? I see youâre the bold type. Iâll have to think of a nick name that suits you. What was that you said to me back in the store..about looking like you crawled out of the garbage dump? Maybe I should call you-â
âHey! My nickname to you was cute!â I protested, earning a laugh from Hoseok. âIt was, it was. Mine will be even better though. Gotta dig out all of my inner creativity~â
~~~~
The date went on for a couple of hours, and it was safe to say we had both lost track of time. Hoseok, once he got comfortable around me, was super hilarious. I swear I got a six-pack from laughing so hard at all of his weird jokes. I never wanted this night to end.
The sound of a waiter clearing their throat brought me out of my thoughts, as Hoseok and I cautiously turned to look up at them.
âExcuse me..Iâm sorry to bother such a lovely couple but you have been here for a very long time and we would like to close now.â The waiter said, seeming annoyed that we kept them here this long.
âAh- I am so sorry!â I exclaimed, grabbing my purse and quickly standing up from my seat. Hoseok stood up as well, giving the waiter a small smile. âIâm sorry as well. I guess time really does fly when youâre having fun.â He said, earning a blush from me. The waiter scoffed at his comment, and looked like they were struggling to contain the urge to just throw us out already.
âAnd weâre off!â Hoseok finally said, noting the waiters patience running thin. He moved to be by my side, and linked our arms together so that he could lead me out the door.
As soon as we were outside, the smell of the air after the rain stopped hit me, making me feel even more calm than I was before. I let out a small yawn, before leaning on Hoseok while we made our way down the street. Hoseok looked down at me, letting out a soft chuckle. He unlinked his arm with mine, and made it so he could wrap it around my waist, pulling me closer.
âHey, sleepyhead. Itâs time to go home. If you tell me where you live Iâll walk you there, that way I can make sure you get there safely.â He said softly, rubbing circles on my side. I groaned, feeling upset the night had to end so soon. âOkay..but donât forget to text me when you get home so I can save your number too..I definitely want to see you again.â I mumbled, finding it hard to keep my eyes open. Before I knew it, Hoseok lifted me off of my feet, deciding he would carry me bridal style back to my house. I let out a speak, wrapping my arms around his next as he walked.
âYour wish is my command. From now on, get used to the princess treatment. Now!! Tell me the way to your house, and I promise to call you first thing in the morning so we can schedule our second date~â
âI get to wake up to the sound of your voice? Sounds like a hell of a deal to me.â I chuckled, before pointing to the direction he needed to go. âOnward, my steed.â
~~~
I didnât even realize that after telling Hoseok the directions to my house, I had fell asleep in his arms. It wasnât until we had already reached my house that he decided to wake me up.
âY/N..hey. Wakey wakey.â Hoseok whispered, poking my face. My eyes slowly fluttered open, looking Hoseok in the eyes. He smiled down at me, before carefully setting me back down on my feet. I sighed, pulling my dress down before looking back up at him.
âLooks like this is the end of our first date. I have to admit, I didnât see it ending as well as it did.â I said shyly, making him nod and chuckle.
âUh, yeah..I guess I could definitely say the same. But, Iâm glad things worked out how they did. You should go in now and get some rest. Iâll call you in the morning as soon as I wake up, okay?â Hoseok said, pulling me into one last hug before he left. I leaned into him, taking in his scent one last time for the night. I had never felt so lucky on a first date in my life. I could already tell this man would become something special to me.
âMm..okay. You better not be lying. Iâm watching you, Hoseok. Iâll go in now I guess. Have a Goodnight, ok?â I said, slowly pulling away from the hug. He nodded, giving me a closed eye smile.
âGoodnight, Y/N.â He said, watching as I unlocked my front door and made my way into my house. I turned around to look at him one last time for the night, waving goodbye to him before gently shutting the door.
âWow..â I breathed, letting out a tiny squeal and bouncing around the room. I had never been so excited to get the night over with and wake up..I needed to hear his voice again soon.
Suddenly, my phone light came on, making me rush to look at it Incase he decided to text me already.
To my disappointment, it was just one of my friends. I clicked on the message, but what I saw made me narrow my eyes, moving my phone closer to my face to make sure I was reading it correctly.
âIâm so sorry, Y/N. Derrik just texted me and said he had a family emergency and couldnât make it to your date..I hope you made it home okay. Iâll make it up to you, I swear. Sleep well, babe. Again, Iâm so sorry..â
Derrik? That was the name of who I was supposed to meet..?
My mind flashed back to when I had first walked up to Hoseok in the restaurant, and instantly I facepalmed. No wonder he was so confused.
âBut..why did he play along with it after that..?â I said aloud to myself, before deciding to text my friend back.
âDonât worry about it. I think it ended up working for the best, anyways. :)â
