“Uh – jeez. Maybe…” Dan stopped himself to think about it. “I think… I think we started around the end of 2006, and we got the album finished by the end of Spring in 2007. So it was – …yeah, it was pretty short-lived. And it was a fucking long time ago, too. We stopped because we couldn’t get any gigs. We got a few back in the day, but not too much past that.” He’d been living on and off in his car ever since then, but he wasn’t about to admit that to Arin.
Just the thought of how happy he’d been to make those songs with Peter got him a little bummed out. He missed being able to do that. Dan spaced out for a few moments before Arin’s inquiry caught his attention again. Looking up, he sent the other a surprised look.
“Um. Sure. Yeah! Just a second,” Carefully, he set his keyboard down and got on his knees to crawl a little closer to where his backpack was, pulling it closer. Unzipping one of the bigger pockets, he pulled one of the CDs out and settled himself back down on his bottom to look at Arin. “They’re $5. So, it shouldn’t be too bad,” He smiled a bit nervously. The case wasn’t that of typical CDs, instead having a bit cheaper cardboard case. All the signs of an indie band, Dan guessed.
“The song I was just playing when you came over is the first song, Hands on the Water. They’re all pretty rad, but that and Run With the Hunted are my two favorite songs.”
Arin couldn't imagine doing that. At least right now, he couldn't even dream of dropping everything and focusing on a creative career. He loved art and had dabbled in animating, but trying to do just that? Man, fuck that. He'd be homeless within the month and Arin couldn't deal with that. He'd rather balance his dead-end job and limp around with his hobbies to keep his spirits lifted. Besides, for the past few months working hadn't been so bad. It'd been kind of… nice with some of the new clientele coming in.
"You sound like you really miss doing that kind of stuff," he comment quietly, watching the other rummage through his bag. Arin leaned onto his side to pull his wallet from his pocket, snagging a five dollar bill to offer out in exchange for the CD. Cardboard case or not, it looked cool to him. He'd been offered 'demo' discs and CDs from street vendors in the past, but that was usually some weird form or electronica or rap and honestly? Arin cared a hell of a lot more about this guy's music than some stranger's.
Pocketing his wallet once again, Arin took the CD and looked down at it, flipping the case over and briefly opening it to look at the plain disc. "Sweet," he murmured, more to himself before he was blinking back up at the other with a wide grin. "I'll have to pay extra attention to those two when I listen to it, then."
