hey! i don’t know if this has been asked before, but i was just wondering if i was okay to use the sunset aroace flag, even if i consider my identities two separate things? i’d just like to use a singular flag so it’s easier for decorations and the like, but i’m really not a fan of any of the other flags that were made, like the green and purple one. i just didn’t want to misuse it, so is it okay for me to use it even if i don’t see my identities as one?

yep! the two blue stripes represent that there are multiple ways to be aroace - it's meant to be broad and inclusive towards anyone who identifies with the aroace label

since i still get questions about it a lot - yes, any aroace-spec person can use my aroace flag! if you identify with the aroace label at all, in any way, it is yours. it has two blue stripes for a reason; they represent the fact that there's more than one way to be aroace. it's meant to include you if you want it to.

hello! we have a question as we’ve seen discourse (which we do not partake in) and many have said you support endogenic systems/headmates. have you stated this before/made flags for them? we are simply confused as we’ve seen things otherwise, but haven’t seen any proof for this. we support endogenics but also wanted to know if you were a singlet or plural, and spoke on the topic of endogenics?

Since this keeps coming up, I'll clarify this once. I am a singlet and I don't really have an opinion in this discourse because I'm not educated enough on the subject, nor is it really my place to be talking about it. I do, however, choose to accept endos at face value because that's just a basic level of respect I would afford anyone. It's not my job to decide if they're legit or not, so I default to believing they're being honest with me. Basically, I treat it like any other identity that I don't fully understand.

our flag looks like the flag of apartheid south africa

my south african friend brought this up to me today. it doesn’t matter how different the flags are–when you spraypaint it, when you see the flag from far away, all you see is the orange, white, and blue

the apartheid south africa flag is a flag that is a threat to their lives, their safety, and their country my friend proposed that we could flip the flag, like an upside down cross, and i would like to suggest shifting the colours like this (similar to what they were like on the original aroace flag):

the colours all have the same meaning, they’re just different shades now. i don’t like to reblog bait but please reblog this, regardless of if you’re aroace or not, so we can spread word and use a flag that doesn’t represent white supremacy and racism.

Hi! I was not aware of this when I made this flag. I do understand how it could remind someone of that flag, but frankly I do think they're still pretty visually distinct. My flag has more stripes, including a yellow and a sky blue that aren't present in the other flag, lacks a symbol, and the two blue stripes have high enough contrast that even from a distance you can see both. I did make a slightly adjusted version that emphasizes those things more, though, if that helps.

Just... idk, there are lots of flags out there, and a lot of them are going to have superficial resemblance to each other. Plus, blue white and orange is a really common color scheme. There are lots of other flags that use it as well.

If it makes people more comfortable to turn the flag upside down or use a different one, that's totally fine. I'm not going to make anyone use a flag that they're uncomfortable with.

it doesn't necessarily make you trans or not a girl, no. pronouns are part of gender presentation, not gender itself. they don't have to indicate anything about your gender. if you like those pronouns, use them!
