Seconds after handing her book to Sayaka, Touko suddenly realized she had left her precious photo inside the book. She definitely needed to get it back—not just because it was special to her, but because she didn’t want to imagine what Sayaka’s reaction to it would be.
I…I need to see t…that book again… J…Just for a moment… Give it b…back…
She fidgeted with her hands, resisting the urge to snatch the book back out of Sayaka’s hands. The beating of her heart reverberated through her body, the sound of it filling her ears. Her hands were growing sweaty, she needed that book back!
In the back of her head, Touko tried to fight off the anxiety—it was just a book, it was just a picture. But the picture—! If Sayaka found it—!
Ah— huh? W-well, okay…
She hadn’t expected Fukawa to want it back so soon, and so suddenly. Blinking in confusion she drops her left fingers to the side of her skirt and holds out her arm to return the novel to its distraught-faced author.
However, before the transaction could be successful something small and paper-like slips through the pages and wafts to the ground like a freshly-cut autumn leaf. It seems all the jostling Sayaka did to the insides had dislodged the object from its resting place.
Oh, oops—!
Ah, let me get that for you, I’m sorry.
Clutching the book back to her chest Sayaka leans over, fingertips outstretched to pick up the… photo? Is that what it is? She only barely starts to make out the image contained within the paper as her palms softly brush past its edges and hold it within her grasp.
Acting without thinking, Touko dropped to her knees and tried to snatch at the falling photo. Her eyes widened as Sayaka got ahold of the photo first; she lunged forward and snatched the photo from the idol's hands.
G...Give that to me...!
Her hands shook as bony fingers closed around the photograph, sweat gathering at her hairline. Yes, yes, she had it, she had it back in her possession... Yes, everything was fine now...
For a moment, Touko forgot Sayaka was even in front of her. But, gazing up at the prettier girl with narrowed eyes, she hid her embarrassment with anger.
T...Take the stupid book... I don't want to see your s...stupid face anymore...
Rising to her feet again, Touko didn't even bother to brush the dirt from her skirt. She spun around, pleats flying, and begun to stomp away.

((Okay so this is dead week for me, meaning it’s the week before finals. Luckily, I don’t have any actual tests, just… projects and papers…
I also have a convention coming up at the end of spring break, and I’m making 3 new costumes that I’ve barely started haha oops.
So because of this I’m gonna put this rp stuff on hold til the end of this week! I may be able to get a reply or two in, but I need to focus on my projects and other things first.

Her… her novel? Surely it wouldn’t be hard to find, would it? But then, she was holding it right here in her bony hands.
She had drawn her hands up in front of her chest, as if using the book as a shield for her heart. Looking down at the worn paperback, Touko stared blankly at it before handing it forward to Sayaka.
Even if she did hate Touko, even if she thought she was stupid and disgusting, there was no way Sayaka could dislike her writing. That was the one thing the literary girl was proud of—her pure depiction of true love. There was no doubt that she would enjoy her writing.
Plus, who was she to keep a literary escape from someone in this desolate world?

She wanted to sigh with relief when Fukawa didn’t immediately retaliate, but she held it in. Instead, Sayaka simply accepted the novel with a smile, looking it over once it was held within her hands. She carefully peeled the cover open, taking a peek at the dog-eared pages and glancing quickly over a few of the sentences to get a jist of it.
Thanks, Fukawa-san. I never had too much time to read full-length novels when I was touring, but now… Well, I guess have a lot more time now, huh?
She chuckles to herself, closing the book and looking back up to the writer.

Maybe not happy, but… thankful? Even if his skills as a Doujin Author were mocked by the others, he really did have a way with entertaining those whom hadn’t fallen victim to despair. Be it with hentai, or riveting stories!

At that moment, Touko wished for nothing more than to just disappear from the Earth completely. She was absolutely 100% convinced that Sayaka was just keeping this going to make her feel stupid, but how could she point it out? Obviously she wasn’t going to admit to it…
Fighting the urge to just sprint in the opposite direction of the girl in front of her, Touko instead focused on the anger growing quietly inside of her. How dare she play with her emotions like this?
…Y…You’re just a waste of t…time… I don’t w…want to talk to you a…anymore…!

Sayaka closes her mouth immediately after the word leaves her lips. Obviously she’s going to need to think hard on her responses with Fukawa, lest she end up inadvertently offending her once more. For a few moments she stands in silence, lifting her gaze from the tightly-knotted braids to the rubble softly being tousled by the wind next to them.
She truly did want to talk with Fukawa. Believing everyone had a bit of good in them, Sayaka thought the girl might have a nicer side to her personality underneath her tough shell. An idea suddenly struck her, it was a little out there and perhaps Fukawa would believe it to be just another farce to get under her skin and ridicule her, but it was worth a shot.
…Fukawa-san, I’ll leave you alone if you really want, but… I was wondering something.
