studyblr tip
make sure youâre actually getting inspiration or ideas when you reblog or create posts. donât let studyblr turn into another chore. if you find yourself mindlessly scrolling or forcing yourself to make posts/log on, its defeating its purpose. studyblr is supposed to make you motivated in your studies, so if you find that itâs just becoming another one of âthose things you have to doâ, itâs okay to take a break or leave. never think you owe it to anyone to stay in a community that isnât helping you.
This whole thread is cool and wholesome.
My mom always taught me that complimenting someone over something they decided on, like an outfit they put together, is the nicest way to show your appreciation!
Itâs difficult to learn how to accept yourself, sometimes it feels impossible; but trust in yourself that it can be done. We believe in you <3

Feeling overwhelmed affects all of us, but if itâs becoming a constant source of anxiety and taking itâs toll, itâs time to try and make some changes. Remember all you can do is your best, be kind to yourself and try and prioritise your workload so youâre not too frazzled <3

27 Sept â18 // Working in my college library this morn on some reading for my thesis. Cambridge is still yawning from the summer, weirdly quiet and gradually shading into myriad oranges. Michaelmas term officially resumes in a week, and the undergraduates start arriving in full force this weekend.
studying and anxiety
a guide on how to study when the thought of it makes you even more stressed
(disclaimer: iâm not a professional therapist or doctor, simply a student who has been dealing with severe anxiety since i was eleven years old. that being said, i donât have much anxiety around schoolwork or testing, so my advice may not be the most helpful- take what i say with a grain of salt.)
while it has been a long time since iâve felt anxious about studying, and therefore canât provide much help with that, i do regularly have to study in situations where i am already anxious or in the middle of anxiety attack. these are some of the things i do to help myself calm down and focus.
calm down. if iâm near panic or feel too restless to sit still, i need to let my body and mind chill before i can even think about schoolwork. if iâm feeling really jittery, a quick walk outside or dancing it out to some high-energy pop music helps me settle down a bit. then i like to meditate, in order to get my focus and thoughts under control.
next, make the space youâll be studying in comfortable and safe. what this means will depend on what you need during an anxiety attack. some people are comforted by familiar items and coziness, such as blankets, candles, and stuffed animals. when iâm stressed, i usually need a more clean and organized space, with everything put away in its place (or just out of sight) and only the things i need with me. things like tea, fidget toys, and familiar smells can help to ground you as well. if youâre not at home, libraries tend to be a good option, since they are quiet, relaxing, and often familiar spaces. if youâre stuck in school and the library isnât an option, try an empty classroom or stairwell.
break everything down. when iâm stressed, my executive functioning goes haywire. in order to get anything done, i have to plan out my moves in very explicit detail. this is easiest for me to do on a computer document. first, i write down all of the assignments that i have to get done. then, i break each of them down into smaller and smaller tasks, until they are simple enough that each takes less than a minute and could be easily explained to a child.Â
get to work! i usually start with the easiest task, so that i donât get overwhelmed or start to doubt my abilities, since that would make me more stressed. for me, this is usually math, since puzzles with definite rules tend to calm me down when iâm anxious, and iâm more likely to get stuck on less structured work like english readings or art projects.
donât forget to take breaks. especially if your brain is dealing with an excess of nerves, and stress, you will need to let it rest and recharge frequently. i like to set a timer where i work for twelve minutes, take a three minute break, and then repeat. if this feels too long or too short for you, feel free to adjust it to fit your needs.
most importantly, go to sleep. i know itâs tempting to stay up late studying or doing homework, especially if you havenât finished all of your assignments yet, but there is nothing that will make your anxiety worse than sleep deprivation. take care of your body, first and foremost. itâs the only one youâre ever going to have.
I know youâre tired bitch but keep fucking going
Thanks, I actually needed to hear that.
Everything Is Awful and Iâm Not Okay: questions to ask before giving up
Are you hydrated? Â If not, have a glass of water.
Have you eaten in the past three hours? Â If not, get some food â something with protein, not just simple carbs. Â Perhaps some nuts or hummus?
Have you showered in the past day? Â If not, take a shower right now.
If daytime: are you dressed? Â If not, put on clean clothes that arenât pajamas. Â Give yourself permission to wear something special, whether itâs a funny t-shirt or a pretty dress.
If nighttime: are you sleepy and fatigued but resisting going to sleep? Â Put on pajamas, make yourself cozy in bed with a teddy bear and the sound of falling rain, and close your eyes for fifteen minutes â no electronic screens allowed. Â If youâre still awake after that, you can get up again; no pressure.
Have you stretched your legs in the past day? Â If not, do so right now. Â If you donât have the spoons for a run or trip to the gym, just walk around the block, then keep walking as long as you please. Â If the weatherâs crap, drive to a big box store (e.g. Target) and go on a brisk walk through the aisles you normally skip.
Have you said something nice to someone in the past day? Â Do so, whether online or in person. Â Make it genuine; wait until you see something really wonderful about someone, and tell them about it.
Have you moved your body to music in the past day? Â If not, do so â jog for the length of an EDM song at your favorite BPM, or just dance around the room for the length of an upbeat song.
Have you cuddled a living being in the past two days? Â If not, do so. Â Donât be afraid to ask for hugs from friends or friendsâ pets. Â Most of them will enjoy the cuddles too; youâre not imposing on them.
Do you feel ineffective? Â Pause right now and get something small completed, whether itâs responding to an e-mail, loading up the dishwasher, or packing your gym bag for your next trip. Â Good job!
Do you feel unattractive? Â Take a goddamn selfie. Â Your friends will remind you how great you look, and youâll fight societyâs restrictions on what beauty can look like.
Do you feel paralyzed by indecision? Â Give yourself ten minutes to sit back and figure out a game plan for the day. Â If a particular decision or problem is still being a roadblock, simply set it aside for now, and pick something else that seems doable. Â Right now, the important part is to break through that stasis, even if it means doing something trivial.
Have you seen a therapist in the past few days? Â If not, hang on until your next therapy visit and talk through things then.
Have you been over-exerting yourself lately â physically, emotionally, socially, or intellectually? Â That can take a toll that lingers for days. Give yourself a break in that area, whether itâs physical rest, taking time alone, or relaxing with some silly entertainment.
Have you changed any of your medications in the past couple of weeks, including skipped doses or a change in generic prescription brand? Â That may be screwing with your head. Â Give things a few days, then talk to your doctor if it doesnât settle down.
Have you waited a week? Â Sometimes our perception of life is skewed, and we canât even tell that weâre not thinking clearly, and thereâs no obvious external cause. Â It happens. Â Keep yourself going for a full week, whatever it takes, and see if you still feel the same way then.
Youâve made it this far, and you will make it through. Â You are stronger than you think.
thank you so much
concept: letâs go to bed at 9pm instead of 3am. letâs drink more water for our bodily health and less coffee for the aesthetic. letâs not skip breakfast because itâs worth running a little behind even if itâs just some fruit or cereal. letâs go socialize even if weâre kinda nervous. letâs love ourselves when we feel down, because flaws are not the end of the world. letâs work hard but take breaks in between instead of procrastinating and then rushing. letâs ignore what people who donât know us have to say about us behind our backs. letâs be kind to each other because weâre all trying here. letâs hype up being mentally healthy rather than being perfect. letâs live our lives like we want to.
just a thought.
Adult things arent NEARLY as complex as I thought they were growing up I just walked into bank of america and said im here to open a checking account and they said ok and opened me a checking account
If you have anxiety about being an adult, it may help to think of adult things as basically just doing a lot of quests.
Me: [googles âwhere do i get a passportâ] Me: [goes to that building] Me: [asks first person I encounter] Where do I get a passport? Them: Third floor, room twelve. Me: [goes to that room] Me: [asks first person I encounter] Where do I get a passport? Them: That desk over there. Me: [goes to that desk] Me: Where do I get a passport? Them: Fill out this form. Me: [thinking] Silver key opens the garden gate, in the garden is the red key, which opens the red door, thereâs a boy in the red house who tells you his dog is trapped in the old abandoned barn and can I please rescue himâŠ
being an adult is a serious of fetch quests and waiting in lines
Destroy the idea that sacrificing your health and wellbeing is a necessary part of academia.
