Sometimes, the kindness of strangers.

Throughout the course of 2024 I was in the throes of cobbling together a semi functional darkroom in my home studio.

While doing this I was also thinking a lot about my footprint as an artist, (Printmaking and Photography aren’t always the most environmentally friendly processes). I hoped to mitigate my impact and (hopefully) make work that was relevant to my goals.

In a weird way these two things aligned on FB marketplace of all places. A person who was breaking up their photo practice was looking to offload a lot of expired black and white photo paper.

After snagging this paper, the rest was sort of serendipity. During the spring of 2025 I started making pinhole photographs, using simply constructed cameras. I intentionally chose various sites along the Cuyahoga River in Portage and Summit Counties. After accumulating about 20 or more of these photographs I chose a series of 10 that fit nicely together and bound them into a rather long accordion fold book.
