“It’s 2018, you gonna start making me playlists on Spotify?”

“You say that, but all I hear is I had a big fat crush on you when I was a teenager.”

“Actually I already did. You should log into the account and see. You’ve been mentioning that you wanted some new work out stuff, so I added a workout playlist 2.0. Badass version, of course.”

“I haven’t even heard the word Napster uttered since, what, 2002?” Dick rolled his eyes and continued his work attempting to organize his desk, which was scattered in files and a couple mugs of coffee– all empty. “Think that CD is still at the manor somewhere.”

Roy hooked his fingers between the handles of the coffee mugs as Dick spread out some papers, getting them out of the way.

“You actually kept that? I think I had Blink 182 and Sum 41 on there.”

Roy leaned in really close to his ear. Slowly. Oh, so slowly, making sure not to make a sound. Then, after a pregnant pause, Roy whispered into Dick's ear: "Hewwo?"

Dick has lived through a lot of pain and torment in his life, but Roy’s knowledge of strange internet humor, and his ability to make Lian pick it up as well, was driving him to a breaking point. Good God.

“I hate you. Why do you have to keep saying that?”

“Because it’s stuck in my head and I want to annoy you. And because memes didn’t exist when we were fifteen.”

“I’m sure they existed. We were just a little too preoccupied to have time on the internet back then. Trying to save the world and, at least for me, still go to school.”

     You’d think that Roy has reached a point in his life where he can be a role model to children and an upstanding gentleman that his husband could be proud of. He had his good days, of course, but on some days, like today, he uncapped one of Lian’s scented markers and swiped a prominent pink line right across Dick’s cheek instead.

 You’d also think that Dick by this point was used to Roy and all of his shenanigans. Roy was a role model, sure, but not when it came to them at home. He was definitely a dad. Dick had sat himself down on the couch, coffee in hand, reading a file for a case he was working… and when he felt Roy coming up behind him he was expecting a hello, or a hug, or… anything other than what Roy did.

“… Did you just mark me with a sharpie?”

“No, I marked you with a scented marker. A pink one.” Don’t be a smartass, Roy.

IT ME. HOLY SHIT.

rIGHT. So. I have no excuse. My attention had been swept away by CLAMP, cosplay, and moving to another country. Somewhere in the middle of all that, Yuri on Ice came out of nowhere and thoroughly ruined my life as well. I only recently caught up with Titans and boy oh boy did I miss seeing Roy with a stubble his closest friends.

[That morning Roy would get a surprise. Dick got up to help Lian cook her daddy breakfast and get the present she made in class ready to give him too. Noah was fast asleep and there was no way in hell he was going to wake Noah up yet. No crying yet. Dick crept in the room and let Lian run and jump onto her daddy to wish him a happy Father's Day while Dick held the tray of food.]

Dick was getting better at sneaking out of bed without waking him up, because the first sign of consciousness that morning was the door opening and a familiar little bouncing on the bed from his little girl. 

“Mmmmwhat?” Oh yeah. Father’s day! Damn it, he was planning on surprising Dick first thing in the morning but his husband beat him to it. Clever.

“There’s a rabbit in t’ bed.”

          Dick didn’t even say anything. Just held up a file for a second.

Continuing the silence, he took the file from Dick’s hand and exchanged it for a fork.
