Here's some progress shots of the two clock props I painted for our shortfilm "Dead Man's Hand"!
What an awesome journey, you always go through the stages of:
"Omw, what did I agree to?", "Oh this is quite fun!", "Can I even paint?" -drops paintbrush on floor- "I don't think I can do this...", "Hey that doesn't look too bad.", "I've got this!", "Oh no, I did that part wrong. Have to repaint." -drops paintbrush on clothes- "Wow, it's done. I can't believe I did that." :)
An A2 surreal acrylic painting I completed during COVID
Tonal for theme: Alterego. size: A2 --- Gr 12, 2014
This one is open for interpretation, for me, personally, though; Sometimes we think things are good for us, they seem to bring us joy and "color", but they are killing who we are really, we allow these dark things to change us.
Medium & Technique for theme: Alterego. Size: A3 --- Gr 12, 2014
I wanted to show the moral fight we have within ourselves. We have our innocence, and then our experience, these two are constantly fighting for top place in our lives. We often do things to handle pain, but they are killing our innocence.
Detailed Sketches for theme: Alterego. Size: A5 --- Gr 12, 2014
First photo: The little child represent the way we see ourselves: young, fragile, incapable. But then the tiger represents our actual abilities. We can achieve more than we know.
Second photo: The conflicting ages again depict how we see ourselves. With this one I want to leave it up to the viewer, "Which reality is the real one?" Are we grown up, but when we look at ourselves we realize we're nothing more than kids? Or are we kids trying hard to be all grown up?
Detailed sketch for theme: Searching for An African Identity" size: A5 --- Gr 12, 2014
Final for theme: Township Art. This is a life-size human head I made, the reason why the child is crying is because within the theme I wanted to show both the dark and light side of townships. Most of my other drawing were of happy children finding water, being silly kids, etc. And unfortunately, not all children's lives are filled with joy.. I wanted to show this. --- Gr 12, 2014
My sculpture did not dry nicely, so I painted it*
Sculpture: "At Peace" this was my second sculpture ever. It is approximately 15cm high. --- gr 11, 2013
"Treasuring Your Victories" Theme: Treasure. Size: A3 ---- Gr 12, 2014
Tonal for theme: Township Art . Size A2 --- Gr 12, 2014
The emotion and message behind this drawing is one of anger, they drawing is depicting two brothers. The older brother is carrying the little boy on his back, and you can see that anger and resentment that goes hand-in-hand with his little brother's tears. God sees this pain.
Personal Art. Size : A3 --- 2014
"Eyes of The Eagle" Final for theme: Mind, Body, and Soul. Size: A2 ---- Gr 12, 2014
I really loved doing this artwork, for me it also has a spiritual meaning - one that depicts our journey with Jesus. Also I drew it for a mentor of mine, to show our journey.
