Have you tried flash cards, Kylie? Make little cards with a picture of the painting on one side and the information on the other and drill yourself for some periods of time each night. I’m willing to bet the others in your class would work with you on it.

Oh- thank you, Dr. Shaffer. Honestly, I don’t think I own index cards. I’ve never, uh, made any flash cards before. I suppose I could walk to a corner store nearby and buy some? There must be something nearby... Honestly, I haven’t left the campus all that much. Is that terrible? I’m in New York and I haven’t even really seen it. I’ve been so crazy focused on just not drowning in schoolwork.

I passed it somehow…..I think I got like a 3 which was like barely there, like 5 was gold star, 4 was not quite, and 3 was like your damn lucky you made it, haha! Easy explanation they’re mean? And you know you’re randomly going to be walking down the street one day and someone is going to come up with you and say WHAT IS THIS PAINTING! Tell me everything you know about it! Cause you know that happens all the time!

A lot of coffee and binge studying for like two weeks before the exam. I remember we had study groups and we’d be sitting around in each other’s living room with flash cards and memorization. I probably couldn’t tell you a single thing now if you showed me those same paintings.

That’s impressive. I avoided AP classes but I guess I should’ve looked a little more into taking them. They are awfully mean. Oh, of course- those cruel art vigilantes who seek out others just to interrogate them on Van Gogh’s Portrait of Dr. Gachet. What year was that painted in? No clue.

Ugh, I’m honestly going to start binge studying now and drowning in caffeine. I don’t think my anxiety will allow me to wait until two weeks before the exam. Maybe I could talk to some of my classmates about creating a study group…

I absolutely feel your pain right now. I took AP Art History in high school and for the AP test we had to memorize the same exact things and something interesting about them to write essays about them. I’ll just wish you the best of luck.

I’m in some desperate need for help in my art history class... I thought it might be fun, but we’re supposed to memorize 90 pieces of artwork, along with their artists, and the time period they were painted in? This is impossible- utterly improbable- inconceivable, even.
