Everyone in the Mario Princess OC discord that I'm in has designed their own rainbow princess, except for me, and I love an arbitrary challenge so of course I went and designed one.
I really wanted to go for a big ol' hoop skirt with lots of layers, and even now as I'm looking at this design I am already thinking that I could go even bigger. While I was drawing her, I got the vibe that she's a very pompous, stuck up princess, so a bigger skirt would definitely help push that idea methinks.
Just like with Ryl, I used an official render of a canon character as a base -Pauline in this case- and in the future if I draw her again I'll lean away from just copying a canon character's body and features.
I think maybe I should mention that this character has been lightly redesigned. This still isn't the final version of her design, but I haven't finished an actual picture of her yet. This is closer to what she looks like now.
I chickened out of doing a full body pic, but hey, I finally drew it.
I have way too many things that are on my list to draw but hear me out
Valmont redesign but the only thing that's different is that he's wearing a corset vest
Deja Vu isn't a great episode by any means but it does contain some pretty unintentionally funny moments when you sit back and think about it
First of all the premise of the episode is that Daolon Wong is on the loose again after getting out of jail early for good behavior. Good behavior. I don't know how long his original sentence was, and I don't know what he was charged with because all of his crimes are magical in nature and the government at large doesn't believe in magic but really let that sink in. The evil Chi Wizard who rivals Uncle in grouchiness got out of jail on good behavior.
Either he's a really good actor or the much funnier option is that Daolon Wong is secretly a really polite old man in his down time.
And then there is the fact that Daolon recognizes Uncle's shop. To us, the viewers, there is absolutely no reason for him to have ever seen the inside of Uncle's Rare Finds. There is no episode where Daolon was ever there, and Uncle put up wards to keep the forces of evil out of his shop all the way back in season 1.
How does Daolon recognize Uncle's Rare Finds? There are only so many possibilities. You can imagine he just knows where Uncle lives and spends hours lurking menacingly outside the window... Or you can assume that Uncle brought his boyfriend over when nobody was looking and let him in himself.
I don't even wanna talk about how awful this paper was to draw on. Never using this sketchbook for something like this again.
Anyway. Have an owl-faced ghost woman for spooky season.
When I forgot how shitty the paper quality of the sketchbook I grabbed is

JCA meme day 15. Funniest moment
Don't mind me being lazy about the art again. JCA is really good with its humor, picking a single funniest moment is impossible for me. I have a few in particular that I'd love to talk about though.
A Jolly J-Team X-Mas lives in a paradox of being one of my least favorite season 3 episodes, while also containing one of my favorite moments in the whole show. I love this mistletoe fake out with Uncle and Daolon Wong. Nevermind that I ship them and this makes for a fun little ship tease even if that is absolutely not what the writers intended. I just think this is a really funny little moment in general that's a great example of how mischievous Uncle is.
And this one line from the Invisible Mom is soooooo stupid, but it lives in my head rent free. It's so iconic to me that I, someone who loves garlic, will sometimes still quote it when offered something to eat or drink.
Finally, Finn is just full of amazing one liners, puns and jokes, I can't pick a favorite. I still stand by saying that Uncle is the funniest character in the show, but Finn easily earns the second place spot for me in that category.
Some additional funny moments that I decided not to list because they are more of an implication than an actual scene.
The part in Rabbit Run where Uncle calls Daolon ugly in order to get his attention is lowkey hilarious when you know a thing or two about ancient Chinese beauty standards. Obviously the standards do change from dynasty to dynasty but I know I have seen multiple sources claim that pale skin, long hair, and a slender body were staples of male beauty in some eras of Chinese history. Daolon Wong matches that description. So Uncle really did just call his beautiful boyfriend ugly to his face. I bet Daolon went home and cried in front of the mirror for hours after that
And in Little Valmont, Big Jade I am just utterly amused by the fact that Valmont ran into Daolon carrying an armful of grocery bags. Daolon did not steal those spell ingredients, he didn't have Finn, Ratso, or Chow go out and steal them for him. He went out and bought them himself and idk something about Daolon Wong going to the market and buying things like a normal person is hilarious to me. Do you ever wonder if he and Uncle ever ran into each other at the market and just glared daggers at each other the whole time because they dared not risk getting kicked out of the only shop in San Francisco that sells a really hard to find spell ingredient?
Two things I learned from the JCA 31 day prompt challenge
JCA meme day 31. If you were in the world of JCA, what would you want to be? Why?
Being 100% really, truly honest with no bullshit, I'd literally just be an average citizen who doesn't get involved with any of this. But since that's boring... Just consider me the Jigglypuff of JCA. I am a freak of nature with no plot relevance who is more of a gimmick than an actual character that mostly does their own thing that is either a help or hindrance to the cast, and I'll be forgotten as the series goes on the way most of the non-main characters are.
JCA meme Day 30. How would you spend a day with the characters?
I love antique shops. If I'm not trying to get Uncle and Daolon Wong to kiss, then I am spending the day in Uncle's Rare Finds spending money that I definitely stole from Valmont.
JCA meme day 29. Memorable quote
I don't even care if it's stupid and that there are better quotes by the dozen. I remembered this one for years, it lives in my brain.
JCA meme day 28. What is your Chinese Zodiac sign? What would you do if you had that sign's power?
Monkey by birth, tax dodging trash panda by choice.
JCA meme day 27. Favorite artifact.
I think a lot of them are cool, it's just that most of them are one episode gimmicks from season 2.5 that are never seen or talked about again, so it's hard to really care. As far as a favorite actually goes, it's either the Talismans or the Pan'Ku Box, and I'm picking the Pan'Ku Box. It's got a cool design, I like that Ratso was in charge of it for most of the season because Shendu couldn't touch it and no one else could get it to work, and I really like that even though the Pan'Ku Box itself is completely made up, it draws inspiration from actual Chinese myth and philosophy. The Book of Ages was cool too, I just wish it had a little more than two episodes worth of relevance.
But for some bonuses from those one-off artifacts, I like the Emerald of Killarney, because that was one of the fun filler episodes. The eye of Aurora was pretty neat too. And surprisingly, I like Greenbeard's Gloves from Glove Story. The episode was pretty Meh, but the gloves themselves had enough personality to be memorable and fun imo.
JCA meme day 26. Least favorite demon chi
All of them.
With a special bonus fuck you to Po Kong's Chi and the sudden fat shaming of Tohru in that episode. Who's idea was that? I just want to talk with my fists.
JCA meme day 25. Favorite Demon Chi.
None of them. Like, normally I would try to be a little more nuanced and pick one that's not as bad, but the transformations are just way too ugly. I hate all of them.
