Uncle: “Be warned! I was a student of Chi Master Fong!”
Daolon Wong: “And I am Daolon Wong, the dark master who defeated Fong!”

Day 1 - Favorite Protagonist
My favorite protagonist has always been Tohru. I know I don't talk about the protagonists as much, and I know Tohru doesn't turn good until the second season but hear me out!
Tohru has got the ultimate character development! Hes dedicated years of his life to Valmont and The Dark Hand just to be shown how little Valmont cares for his safety by forcing him to fight a demon. Its a wake up call for the big guy! He decides to turn his whole life on its head and do the right thing, and he does! He struggles occasionally with the temptation to turn back to crime, but the family he has found in the Chan Clan means more to him than anything a crime syndicate can ever offer.
Tohru is a nice breath of fresh air as a character. Too often fat characters are made into these jokes that are big dumb lumbering idiots who don't know how to do anything but grunt and hit things. Tohru isn't like that, hes quiet and strong, yes, but hes intelligent too. He has emotional depth, wants and needs, he gets lonely or irritated, he respects Uncle to a great degree and loves and protects Jade. He trains as a chi wizard! So rarely is a fat character allowed to be magical also! I love Tohru's arc and growth as a wizard so much!
Tohru is, in my opinion, one of the most well rounded characters in the show and all around a joy to watch!
JCA MEME Day 23
Best magic scene
Hands down.
Uncle recruiting all of Section 13 to help? Peake Shendu having a war flashback to Lo Pei as he realizes exactly what's happening? Poetry Getting turned back into a statue and releasing the powers as Talismans again? Absolute Cinema Getting the spell from Daolon? -Chefs kiss-
We could never have seen Shendu again after this episode and I would have been completely happy. In fact, this was Shendu's best defeat in the entire series and I will defend Season 3 for that fact alone.
Also this final shot of Shendu being locked up in Section 13 with his Talismans in view, in arm's reach while he is completely helpless to obtain them is objectively the funniest thing they could have done. This could have been the series finale and I would not have complained, actually.
Incredible. Absolutely incredible.
JCA meme day one. Favorite protagonist
For a show with Jackie Chan's cartoonsona as the alleged hero, they sure do fight a lot of funky mythical beasties that Ol' Jackie can't actually Martial Arts his way into defeating. So lucky for him, the real hero of the show knows a thing or two about fighting ancient evils, even if Uncle is getting too old for this. One more thing, he is also the funniest one in the show.
I will give a shout out to Tohru though, the writers didn't have to make him suddenly change sides, but they did and it's great.
JCA MEME Day 12
Least favorite season
I hate season 5. This is probably an universal experience because I'm yet to see one person who doesn't.
Firstly, the general theme of the season is boring as hell. Basically, it's a repetition of S3 but instead of talismans in natural habitat it's powers of demons in natural habitat.
And they don't show anything new. Moon demon can still only control gravity. Sky demon can only fly and mountain demon is still only green and fat.
And after them is Shendu's crotch goblin? How did he even appear? Through some magic shenanigans? Did Shendu woohoo another dragon? And like... Other dragons in JCA are like animals, at least those who served Shendu didn't say a word. Did he woohoo a human woman? I guess looks like it, because he looks like he's either half human or has problems with his pituitary gland.
How did he even appear? Dragon talisman power didn't detect him. Because he's too much of a human? Did Shendu re-appear out of the void to give birth to him after? Did the sword of the eight immortals impregnate a woman with Shendu's magic baby goblin? This isn't explored one bit. I guess he just poofed into existence like out of a spawn egg.

He's so far the weirdest antagonist ever. Wong has badass magic and a pokeball to contain his warriors. Valmont has class and money. Tarakudo is so far the most wise and patient. Demon sorcerers each have their own thing. Drago has daddy issues. I can't really point out anything else. He's like Shendu but with less demon vibes and more yo bruh I smoked so much weed I turned green vibes. His crew are gopnik-y teenagers who are kung fu fighters but were exiled from the monastery for being little shitheads. But they aren't much different from any other henchmen. What's their purpose?
Kill it with fire
Enforcers were swept under the rug because they got their asses beaten. So naturally Drago hired to fucking teens who...
Lemme check my notes
Got their asses beaten in every subsequent episode.
And the start of the season is... did... did they even try? It started because
The stars aligned
Bitch the Mercy is in retrograde, so I guess here we go.
Tohru's development in S5 vs S1-4 can be described with this picture. Where S5 is on the right.
Here's two situations. One, a giant fucking snake, probably venomous going to kill him. Second, a portrait lady showing disapproval. Below, two reactions. In first case he, after the initial fright, starts fighting the snake. In second one, he screams and runs away.
In general, S5 retconned him into a little pussy. Before, he
• fought demons, both Japanese and Chinese
•had mysterious shadow entities helping him
•fought a giant ass snake
•went into the shadow realm, conquering his fear of oni
•fought dark warriors with sideways eyelids
And in season five he's like "uwu powtwait lady is meeeen, mommy pick me up". And for some reason he's afraid to do pushups. Even though he's shown to be pretty physically active. He climbed a mountain. And while Jade was like uuuuhhh can't get up I'm dyyyyying get my will written ooooooh, he's just "maybe we'll take some rest sensei". And now they're jogging in the park and he's about to pass out and pass away.
He had a few cool moments, like when he saved those kids from a trap in a mansion or Jade from Section 13, or hugs Jade and Uncle when they're stranded on a piece of ice to keep them warm. And he's pretty much still acting like her older brother, but he has significantly less parts than before. Became significantly weaker. And is usually a punching bag. His whole thing here is to fall in a funny way. Where is that guy from S2-3 who's pretty much capable of crushing your spine with his fists, but won't, because he chooses to do good things. (Unless you're a bad guy, then he's scary af) Now we have this. *points at his reaction to the portrait*
He has only one episode and it's about weight loss. Season two, he has doubts because others think of him as "less than" because he left the Dark Hand. And he thinks if it would be better to betray his friends to become rich and get mom's approval but ultimately decided against that. Then, we see him being uncomfortable being served as the chosen one and he shows that he just shows love by helping others instead of others sacrificing for him. In S3 his memories of his friends are erased, but he switches sides anyway because Jackie helped him, when Valmont set him up to fail and left to die, showing that they're friends with his actions rather than words. In S4 he didn't have a specific episode, but he played a major part still, working on overcoming his fears.
And in S5 the point of the episode is... don't... Don't be fat, I guess? Eat healthy??? Idk.
And animation in many parts looks unappealing. Look at the ice crew above, for example. Larry, instead of a normal beard grows a fleshy stub on his chin, and I already told what I think about the mirror episode.
31 Day Jackie Chan Adventures Challenge
[[ Jackie Chan Adventures has a 25th anniversary coming up in a few weeks on September 9th. I wanted to share a fun little challenge with the fandom if anyone is interested. The challenge starts the 9th and you do one topic for that day and each day after, which would basically lead up to 31 different show related topics. I did something similar many years ago, but I wanted to revamp it in honor of the upcoming special occasion. Feel free to share and tag so others can follow! ^^ ]]
