09/02/2013 film, shopping and bowling!

On the 9th of February I shot with David for two hours.

Here he is taking a photograph of Emma and Wil just after we had finished the shoot. :)

David was lovely to work with and a very interesting person. He only had a handful of slides with him so the shoot was very laid back. David shot on film- large format. I always love the buzz of shooting using film- even on the glassy end of the camera. It's so different but I'm always terrified I'm going to blink and ruin the shot! Haha.

I don't have the results to share but I hope the shot of Emma and Wil might surface one day perhaps :)

After the shoot Emma needed to go out and get some hair dye before we headed off to Bruge for two days- my first modelling trip abroad!

We had a bit of retail therapy while out (I think Wil though I had abducted Emma we were out for so long!) It was really nice to be out somewhere different and of course with Emma- the shopping was good too ;)

When we got back we decided we would go out bowling. I have not been bowling for years and have terrible childhood memories of it-! But they persuaded me and it was great fun- the lanes were all glowing too and my converse looked great! :D

A few hours later, lots of crazy conversations with American folk and with lots of junk food consumed it was time to head home and pack to get ready for our trip away the next day!! :D

08/02/2013 Two hour shoot with Neil.

On the way up to Emma's I dropped in to work with Neil for two hours. He had applied to my casting over on PurplePort a few weeks ago.

On arrival I was welcomed by some delicious refreshing lemon pop and Neil's cat Neo also said hello to me! I am sure he was trying to distract me all throughout the shoot, such a cute cat and SO soft! :D

Neil was lovely to work with, very kind, courteous and fun. The two hours went very fast!

We worked our way through some portraits and lingerie work. I was the first professional model Neil had booked so I hoped he would enjoy the shoot :)

I was at Emma's about an hour later, we all ordered a pizza (mmmm) each and sat and watched a movie! :)

January/ February tour day six! 31/01/2013.

I had a bit of a lie in this morning as Mike, the photographer I was working with lived just around the corner from the hotel! :)

Mike and I worked together for four hours, but did a lot of chatting! It was a really laid back shoot but we also got some really cool shots for Mike's Book- can't show them here but I do have a couple of images we took which are on his facebook.

I met Mike's cat, Mischief who spent most of the time trying to get into my coat, my bags and get as much attention from me as possible- which of course I was more than happy to do! He was very sweet :)

We had a pizza for lunch (the first one committed suicide on the kitchen floor) but luckily Mike had a magic oven thing that cooked the other pizza super fast! Yum. :D

I had a bit of a long plod to get to my next destination- Kestrel in deep, dark Wales. The Sat Nav decided to take me the most scenic route it possibly could have. I honestly thought I was going the wrong way- I was driving down single lane roads with a cliff one side and forest the other- I didn't see a car for about half an hour (thankfully!) as god knows how we would have passed each other. Bloody Sat Nav!! I swear it does this to freak me out- maybe shortest route but really, farm lanes? Grrr...

Um, where am I...? :O

After about half an hour of this I found myself back on a main road. PHEW. The scenery was just jaw dropping. I wanted to take loads of photos and gawp at it all but I couldn't as I was driving.. :( Some of the scenery was just EPIC. Amazing.

I arrived at Kestrel's (Ade's) right on the dot, Ade came out to meet me and help me with my many bags. There was an open fire lit and the warm was very welcome!

We spent a few hours chatting and ate some dinner (thank you to Ade's wife for cooking me loads of food!) :D then I headed to bed! I was looking forward to working with Ade in the morning to do something a bit different to my usual work! :)

January/ February tour day four! 29/01/2013.

Today I had a full day to shoot with John and Pete! We had planned to spend the morning out, come back and shoot indoors then go out again to do some night time images.

The weather had decided to be pretty miserable on this day which was a real shame but there is always another time to try the ideas out we didn't manage to do this time! :)

It was actually Pete's 21st birthday (hehe) today so we all sat around and ate Johns home made breakfast and scoffed our bacon and sausage rolls before we went out to shoot! Yum!

We headed to get the famous train shot, got there in plenty of time to catch the train going over me- I was UNDER the bridge-! We waited....and waited....the train was delayed by 20 minutes, great! Lol. Anyway, after getting a bit chilly we got the shot and Pete was really pleased :D

After we got the train shot we spent some quality time under the bridge using the ambient light coming in through the gap. Here are Pete's shots:

After that madness I had warmed up. We then trekked up the mountain (!) to shoot by a memorial to the miners at the top of a hill! Pete was like a mini tour guide all day and it was interesting to hear about the history of the area :) Here he is!

We did a few shots up there but daymn it was windy and cold! We did not stay up there for long! ;)

On the way back down I had to get a snap of the famous Newt!

We grabbed some drinks to re-fuel then headed to the next location! Here is Pete's cup holder- cool, I know :)

We then shot some images in the dress John bought especially. :) It was pouring with rain by then so the shots we wanted to do we couldn't :(

We then had a delicious steak cooked for us by John, opened up a bit of red wine to just have a cheers moment as it was Pete's Birthday!

After eating that AND some cheescake I suddenly had a burst of energy! It had stopped raining and I thought it might be fun to try some night-time ballet shots! :D

Back home to John's and that was that! We were all knackered! It was a super day and I look forward to working with John and Pete again!

January/ February tour day three! 28/01/2013. Image heavy!

On Monday the 28th January I was heading back to the fabulous Hallam Mill in Stockport.

I had another sell out studio day and I could wait to get started.

On arrival it was ccooolld- Jim ran around and put all the heaters on for me and I did my best not to go purple!

First two hours went to Gavin. We had a few specific ideas to work on but also used the left over time to go a bit mad and experiment! I think we got a huge variety in the two hours...

Second slot went to Ian (who I actually met at the social the day before and on hearing I had just had a cancelled slot he stood in for me and saved the day!)

We are both a huge fan of the lensbaby so it would have been rude not to shoot with it! I think we got some cracking shots from the two hours and they were right up my street indeed! :D

After a quick break and a chocolate biscuit (or two) ken had the next two hours with me.

Ken was almost 7ft tall, I am sure he won't mind me saying but he was the tallest photographer I have ever worked with, maybe even tallest person I had properly met and I was intrigued! I would have loved to take some portraits of him.

Anyway, on with the few shots I have from the two hours:

I sold another two hour slot but didn't manage to get in contact with the photographer afterwards so can't share any of the images sadly.

January/ February tour day two! 27/01/2013

Today I was up way before the crack of dawn to head to the beach with Barry. Yes, the beach, yes in January. Yes, madness.

It was cold, oh my dear god it was cold. The wind was howling and the sand was biting my legs, face and just about every bit of me- I was finding sand in my hair and clothes for days after ;) Did I say it was cold?

Barry summed up our shoot wonderfully over on his blog so I am going to use his write up here:

"My first Project of the year did not really get off to a good start the first 3 weekends in January all had to be cancelled due to the bad weather and heavy snow, making the location inaccessible and conditions too poor to shoot in. The last weekend in January however conditions looked pretty good, which was really lucky as the Model Artemis Fauna had travelled all the way from Gloucestershire. Picked Artemis up at 7.15am on what was a pretty cold and dismal Sunday morning arrived at the beach around 8am once on the beach we found the lighting was perfect but the working conditions were pretty demanding the temperature was just above freezing, but the wind on the beach was virtually gale force, certainly making the wind chill well below freezing the heavy winds were also causing a major sand storm and we were forced to walk backward to the area on the beach just to stop us being blinded by the sand. The tide was coming in at a rapid rate and some 30 minutes early from the predicted tide change. This all meant we needed to work quickly and considering the project shots were Art Nude we thought it best to rehearse all the poses and angles before actually starting. Checking with Artemis several times that she was OK and still happy to shoot her response was that of a true professional “The Light is amazing the shots will look brilliant we are here now so lets get it done”. To be honest I would of totally understood if she had just wanted to go back to her nice warm hotel room as the conditions were less than ideal for me and I had several layers of clothes on so all credit to Artemis for being such a brave young lady and suffering for her Art.

After about 15 minutes of shooting some nudes it was apparent that conditions were just too poor and Artemis was suffering badly, we decided to retreat to the dunes for shelter from the wind and the tide which was starting to lap around our feet. Once at the dunes and after a warm up and a hot drink, Artemis suggested we do some shots in the dunes and maybe use the seascape as the backdrop, This is not my usual style of work, but since we were there it seemed like a good idea and we did get some nice shots, some of which you can see below the project nudes will not be published until the final project is completed which continues through February and March and depending on the results may also mean some re-shoot at the end of the year.

Further updates on my projects this year will follow as I am aware I very rarely actually write anything on my Blog and have tended to use it more for posting images, something I am planning on changing throughout this year.

Hope you enjoy the result below which are just a taster of what we achieved on the day, but I have to say a very Big THANK YOU to Artemis for her hard work, dedication and professionalism, she was a delight to work with and someone I will be working with again in the future, hopefully under much better working conditions, which will not be that difficult considering what I put her through here."

After the shoot it was time to head back, half frozen to the car to get back to the hotel for a quick change. We were then going to head to the Pathways Social in Chester for a well deserved fry up and a day of socialising! :)

I had a great day and it was lovely to meet so many people! Everyone was really nice and friendly- definitely a great social I hope to go back to again one day! :D

January/ February tour. Day one. 26/01/013

On day one I left Cheltenham on a snowy and Icy morning. Snow had fallen all over the country so I was a little concerned about my tour and driving about in these kind of conditions.

I stopped on the way up to grab a coffee and pulled into the whitest service station ever- it was mayhem as no one knew where to park or which way was what as the ice and snow was covering everything! I was suddenly imagining myself pushing my car out of the slush. Luckily I had plenty of time and it turned out to be fine! Phew. :)

On arrival at the studio MarC's assistant MarK helped me in with my things and we got sorting out ideas. I already knew what we were focusing on so Natalie got on with doing my make-up while MarC and MarK sorted out the studio.

Idea one was a few portraits with the golden leaves and my hair. (Long story about a hair disaster a day before my tour-!!) In short:

Went to get a cut and simple colour boost

The hairdresser dyed my gorgeous copper hair CHERRY RED

Spent the next three hours having my hair scrubbed in bleach and them trying to re-dye it for me....

Ahhhh!! Still, the colour held for most of the tour thankfully but it's now dry, damaged and fading all over again :'(

We then did some nudes with the leaves. I held this pose on the hard floor for quite a long while being the hard working model I am and unfortunately I spent the rest of my week with very sore and bruised knees! Oops, next time I WILL say I need to stand up when shooting pains start to happen! Lol.

Natalie was throwing the leaves about behind me in these, I think it gives a really nice effect.

We then moved onto the 'film noir' idea Marc had with the harsh lighting. We did some funky poses and before we knew it the shoot was over...

Still made time for a great out-take though!

It was then time to pack up really quickly as we had over run a tad and wizz straight over to my hotel. I had about 10 minutes to get ready and rest...well, no rest! Before my next shoot started.

Paul had booked me for three hours and we were using my Travelodge hotel room to work in.

We made the most of the natural light before it disappeared and got some lovely images!

Paul had brought a lamp to experiment with but due to there only being one plug socket in the whole room-! It was very limiting as to what we could do with it. I still think we got some unique shots though!

We then used the ambient light in the room for the rest of the shoot, playing with abstract ideas and some lingerie.

The last set was shot in the bathroom with a kind of voyeuristic feel to them...

Of course the usual silly out-take!

What a good start to a tour thank you to you all!

Last day at Scarlet Door studio with Ian

The morning after my day at the studio I was back again to shoot with Ian for two hours. We were aiming to get some cool mono shots and then use the rest of the time to really experiment with ideas. Ian was super to work with and was more than happy to try out my wacky ideas too!

I think we did great for two hours! Time to pack up and head back to Cheltenham.

Shooting with Shawn Bishop and others at Scarlet Door

In January I headed over to Scarlet Door Studio to work with Shawn for half a day. We had a few specific ideas to work on but the 'main shot' involved an MUA and doing something a little different to my usual stuff!

MUA was Amanda Spong and she brought along some gorgeous sparkly jewellery for me to wear! :D

After a short break I was booked with Gordon for two hours. He also had a very specific idea to work on and we got some really lovely shots. We focused on textures of clothes and almost blank expressions.

After Gordon and I had finished shooting Rob arrived with his list of ideas- it was a great day, everyone was very organised with loads of inspiration! We got shooting something funky with harsh light and used the rest of the time to play with some more ideas:

IainT and Russ. 02/01/2013

On the 2nd of January Russ and myself headed up to visit Iain T for the day to shoot some glamour!!

Glamour isn't a genre I really do, and not one Russ does either!! So we knew it would be a challenge for us.

The day was amazing however and we all had a blast! I am chuffed with the results and I hope we can go back again one day. Here is a 'share a shoot' I put up.

Cheltenham studio day. 05/01/2013. Part one

Early in January I was straight in with getting busy. No time to waste! ;)

I had previously worked with Alex on a tuition day at Cheltenham studios with the Royal Photographic society people so when he contacted me about booking some 1-2-1 time with me I was over the moon I had left a good impression! :)

Alex booked two hours with me and we had lots of ideas to try out. Alex had bought some inspiration images in his sketch book and I think we were instantly on the same page which was super. :)

We started off with some simple mono shots, trying to make it look like natural light coming though a window.

We then gave some 'shooting down on me' ideas a go. Alex was right up a ladder and cooking due to the heater being right above him! Oops!

Then some nudes:

OK I love this one, but I can't decide which edit I like best!!

It looks like a painting to me, I think I am leaning more towards n.o3 but I just don't know!! ;)

We then moved onto some lingerie to finish up.

The two hours flew by and we are both very pleased with the results :) A very good variety to walk away with :)

Shoot with VicPics 19/12/2012

On the 19th December I had a three hour shoot with Martin.

Martin and I had worked together about three years previous to this so we were both a lot more experienced! We were giggling about the images we had taken/ been in and it was nice to catch up and have 1-2-1 time to shoot properly (as the first shoot had been an event.)

We fitted loads into the three hours and tried colour, mono, nudes, natural light and studio light. Very productive shoot in other words!

'Samthedog' and his film camera :)

John contacted me through net-model (yes, really!) back in December to ask about a possible shoot. His work looked very interesting and classic-it was clear to me he used film to shoot on so I was already looking forward to it!

We booked two hours in a studio in Gloucester- it was so cold and the blow heater had to be on all the way through or I would have looked like a Smurf ;)

John brought loads of inspiration shots in a little book and we spent our time focussing on a few shots as the set up time is much longer for large format than digital!

I really enjoyed working with film and waiting for the results is quite exciting so when John sent more some it was great to see how they turned out :D

Thank you John, it was good fun and I hope we can do it again one day!

Shoot with ClickMore. 8/12/012

The morning after the Hotel De Vie event was beautifully sunny but cold and crisp. I packed up and said goodbye to the Scarlett suite, grabbed the strongest coffee there was and headed over to see Pete for the day (scoffing the left over pizza on my way over.)

On arrival we sorted through my bits and bobs and took some clothes to the location we were working at- Pete said there was loads of graffiti so we went for a kind of punky look which was good fun.

It was lovely modelling in the sun, but in the shade my goodness it was cold! We worked our way through some different ideas for an hour or so on location and got some cool shots:

Back to the studio! Pete had the most awesome biscuits which are my absolute favourite- caramel digestives. Mmm with tea, what a treat! :D

Hotel De vie 6th+7th December. Day one.

My name had been down for months to attend this event along with 6 other models and I was really looking forward to it! It was being held at The Hotel De Vie in Farnham.

On Wednesday (I was down for the Friday) Lucy Lu called me up to ask if I would mind filling in for the 10pm-11pm slot on the Thursday as there had been some re-arranging. I had no issues at all with coming earlier and was excited to meet the other models too but I had also been asked to go to a 'fitting' thing for my agency in CARDIFF that day too...So, I agreed to both-! Mad right? ;)

Thursday morning I went off to Cardiff, it took me around 1:40 mins, turned up, was there for about 20 minutes and then I was done...! Now to head the two hours over to Farnham to get the the hotel.

I arrived just as the dinner break had finished. I felt rather sheepish walking in on loads of people, most of who I recognised and a lot I didn't! I was instantly welcomed however and the lovely Jess who I have wanted to meet me for some time took me straight over to the coffee machine! How did she know! :D

I spent most of that evening chatting to the models and photographers there, trying my best to keep out of the way of everyone of course! It was super to chat away to so many familiar faces- the trouble is, you see so many models online it feels like you should know them when you finally meet them in 'real life' :)

10-11 PM I shot with Brian. We focused on art nudes mostly, in the huge and fantastic Scarlett Suite.

After we were done for the hour I stayed up a tad bit too late but there were a few of of sat around chatting away so the time flew by- I really enjoyed having a good laugh, it felt really nice to socialise! I'm so glad Lucy asked me to arrive a day early :)

22/11/2012. 'Hellboy' and Artemis meet again!

I woke up feeling excited about the day ahead. I had slept reasonably well (except for the banging noises all night due to old pipes- so I had to leave the fan on all night to drown it out)

I headed down to the restaurant to get some coffee and a full English...why not? As I strolled into the room I saw a face I recognised- I double took (subtle I know) and sure enough it was Bill Oddie! Either him or a very good look-a-like. he clearly saw my double take and said "good morning" to which I smiled and said good morning back. I did feel rather star struck ;)

Mmm food :)

After I had eaten as much as I could I went back up to the room to finish packing and get changed. I must say although the hotel was super something happened that morning that really caught me out- as I was stripping off to get changed one of the hotel staff opened my hotel room door without knocking just as I was completely starkers-! Now I know I am a nude model but when things happen that just shouldn't it came as a complete shock! She promptly slammed the door and shouted how sorry she was, I just laughed and said no worries but I was quite miffed and it made me feel quite shaken up! On leaving the hotel she was in the reception and I was expecting a rather big apology and perhaps some kind of discount- after all I had paid £100+ for my stay and room! I just got a giggle and a sorry and that was it. Perhaps I should have played the angry customer and demanded something but I couldn't be bothered in the end and was trying to get on the road to head to my shoot.

After all that I was just ready to leave and get on with my day!!

Richard and I had a brilliant shoot last time we met when I was passing Nottingham. This time we were going to try something a little different than the first time. More fashion based than nudes.

We were going to shoot in his good friends amazing house. It was an extremely modern and amazing house- I was in love as soon as I walked through the door!

Richard had stocked up on loads of goodies and had lots of inspiration shots too. We got shooting and took some awesome shots that day, I love so many of them!!

Richard is also lovely and his photography is just getting better and better. I am very much looking forward to shooting with him again in the summer :D

On the way back the wind was worse than it was on the way up. It was literally a white knuckle ride all the way home which made it really quite stressful.

I don't like driving in the dark much but with torrential rain too it was nasty. I also witnessed an accident happen right in front of me on the way home too. It wasn't too bad (no one got hurt) but having it happen literally right in front of me wasn't nice and added more fear to my already scary journey!!
