“Ahh, point taken, point taken.” Teddy replied with a soft laugh. “I suppose I should start investing a little energy in something so important.” He had to agree with Artemy.
“Honestly that sounds reasonable to me. How do you address the alleged safety concerns? I’m never quite sure when I read safety statistics how true they are, you know? Like are they reliable? So if it is safe, then why do it? Keep the curfews I mean.”
He waited for Artemy to return, a little touched that the other man was buying his meal. This didn’t often happen, especially once people found out about his trust fund. Then it was pretty much expected that he foot the bill nearly every time. It was odd to be treated. “I hope you do. It is a personal favourite. I’d like to see my favourite City Councillor around more often.”
When the topic turned to the safety concerns, Artemy shrugged his shoulders. “The way I think about it, whether the safety statistics are true or not doesn’t actually matter. If an area is unsafe for a submissive, what makes it safer for a dominant? What in our biology makes one situation unsafe for me, but not for you? Believe if or not, I’m not without a way to protect myself. I grew up in less than safe areas of the city and you learn fast. I learned right alongside the dominants in the same neighborhoods.”
Artemy smiled. “Your favorite City Councilor? Then I’ll absolutely have to come back often. For the sake of my favorite librarian. I mean besides that mean one from elementary school, of course,” he teased. When the barista called his name out, Artemy looked over his shoulder to see their order. “They’re fast too.” Getting up, he retrieved their drinks and food, setting everything on their table before sitting back down. “Bon Appetit, my librarian friend.”
